Murderers in Thunderclan V.5 [News on page 897]

Dawnpaw ranted silently in her head. Why couldn't she go and
collect herbs by herself? All the other apprentices were allowed
to split up from their mentors for a short amount of time during
their hunting missions, but Primrosegaze insisted on constantly
being with her to ensure she had the right herbs. Did her mentor
not think she'd learned anything in the three moons she'd been a
Medicine Cat Apprentice? Her grumpiness lead to recklessness, as
it often did, and she decided to show Primrosegaze she was
perfectly capable of doing anything by herself, just like her
denmates. Mind made up, she padded out in the forest, adopting
an assured and confidence look on her face so that any onlookers
would not think her suspicious. Just as she approached her first
clump of marigold, she heard a twig snap behind her.
"Collecting herbs by yourself, Dawnpaw? Surely that's dangerous
without your mentor? Who knows what might be hiding in among
the medicine.." drawled a familiar voice.
"What, a mouse?" Dawnpaw snapped back, cross she had been
so quickly discovered.
The other cat smiled.
"Not quite.. I was thinking more along the lines of.."
Dawnpaw gagged as she felt something being shoved into her
jaws.
"Yew berries," the cat continued.
Dawnpaw tried to spit them out, but it was too late. Her limp body
lay in the marigold, her usually so animated face in a blank look of
fear and betrayal.
Watch out Thunderclan, there's a murderer in your midst!

Owlkit opened her eyes in the Nursery. The sun already shone through the branches from the den. With a big yawn the young kit stand up and blinked the sleep outta her eyes. "Mommy...? Are you already awake...?"

Ashfur stretched, pulling a mouse of the fresh kill pile and breathing in the smell of food. She stretched, playfully flicking her tail in the air, and sat down on one side of the clearing to eat. She looked around for somebody to eat with, but found nobody and resigned herself to eating alone.

Silverbreeze woke up in the nursery, yawning softly, waking up to the sound of a small little voice. She shifted a little, until she could find the small little Owlkit. (Dunno who is Owlkit's mum.. so *shrug*) Silverbreeze licked the top of Owlkit's head softly. "It's still sort of early in the day, so she might still be asleep." She cooed gently.

Ashfur heard voices from the nursery. The clearing felt big and empty, and she really wanted to eat with someone. Even though it was usually the apprentice's job, she grabbed a shrew off the fresh kill pile and carried it over to the nursery, peeking inside. Her ears flicked upwards at the sight of Silverbreeze and she carried the vole in, dropping it at the queen's feet.
"Hey Silverbreeze. Would you mind if I join you for a while?"
She had known Silverbreeze for a long time, as the two were close to the same age and had been apprentices at the same time. Ashfur hoped to someday be able to mentor Silverbreeze's kit, Whitekit.

Whitekit suddenly woke up.
"Mummmmy! My stomach hurts..." the she-cat wailed.

Suddenly, a wail erupted the room, instantly recognizing the little voice. She turned behind her, shushing the small little white creature. "It's alright, darling, if it gets too bad I'll get you to see Primrosegaze." Silverbreeze nuzzled Whitekit softly, hearing footsteps coming inside the nursery. The queen smiled as Ashfur dropped from prey at her feet, gratefully accepting it into her mouth, nodding. "Why not? I need some time with other cats.. Who aren't kits." Silverbreeze replied with a smile, taking a bite out of the vole, and offered some to Whitekit. Maybe she was just hungry?

Ashfur sat down next to Silverbreeze, her fluffy tail flicking back and forth. "How's life in the nursery?"

Whitekit nodded. She took a bite of the vole in front of her.
"It's still hurts a bit..." she muttered.
