It's technically a mashup and I think it counts, but
No Diggity/Thrift Shop mashup by Ed Sheeran and Passenger.
It's... amazing.

It depends on if it's just a gratuitous remix (let's add more bass because DUBSTEP ALL THE SONGS),
or if it explores another facet of a song's potentional, or shows another side by altered instrumentals/vocals.
I don't necessarily think classic songs shouldn't be remixed, but it's best when done by the right person with the right intentions.
