The cats were hunting, talking, and grooming each other. It was sunny, and mild, perfect weather for sun-bathing. Beachwalk, who was lost in dreams, was sleeping in the den. Suddenly, she was slashed in the throat and she now lie limply in her nest. All the evidence was bloody pawprints leading out from the den.

Wolfsong took the squirrel to the queens and padded up to Foxblaze '"hey" he purred to the cats.

Foxblaze smiled, then frowned. She sniffed the air, and her fur bristled. "B-b-blood!" She yowled. "Beachwalk!"
