WEATHER REPORT - LEAF-BARE
Thick, gray clouds cover the sky, threatening to send down more snow and potentially hail to rain down upon the Clans' territories. Warriors work harder to bring in prey, and predators are slowly coming out and are willing to fight for a meal.

» The honey badger was a fierce opponent and the patrol feared the worse when it grabbed onto Dunlinspeckle's hind leg and
refused to let go, with a blaze of adrenaline shooting through him, Lupu leaps into action and bites into the creature's neck
with all the force he can muster, praying to the spirits that it is enough. He is aware of his Clanmates joining in, and together
they all deal enough damage to the badger to the point it runs off before it can be killed. Dunlinspeckle is limp on the ground,
though he is still breathing. Lupu feels sick as he stares at the sorry state of the tom's leg: dislocated and covered in blood.
He will need +5 moons of rest, +2 cobwebs, +1 comfrey, and possibly other types of herbs in the future.

Tipwhisker weaved her way through the close bushes on the territory. It was odd -- she had received
a dream from a group of translucent, starry cats, asking for her to seek out a brown tabby molly
among dense undergrowth. They had bestowed a name upon her, too. The quiet tortoiseshell had
never gone by anything before, used to her mother simply crooning pet names at her, so she had
accepted the christening without question.

The ethereal cats had explained what her role would be in detail, and Tipwhisker had nodded along,
finding it to be fascinating. Learning about herbs and sharing with ancestors, being a part of a greater
group. She threaded through the low branches and her pelt caught briefly on a couple of brambles.
She tore away, and paused suddenly, able to scent someone there aside from herself, and bristled
briefly, before forcing her fur to lie flat.

A lithe, pretty molly padded out from the bushes opposite her, and paused, before approaching the
other cat. "Have you been sent here?" she asked, excitement poorly hidden in her tone.

Tipwhisker brightened, and stood up straight. "I have. My name is Tipwhisker, and I am your
medicine cat. It will be a pleasure to serve you."

Number of Cats: 24

The four cats quietly ventured along with their patrol. It was cold and they were doing their best to stay warm. They hadn't seen anything yet so they were ready to go back to camp. Suddenly, Bumblestream's head poked up.
"Hey, uh... Is that a cat over there?" she said, pointing her tail in the direction. A lone body of a cat lay on the cold ground.
"Looks like it. Let's check it out and see if we can help," Bramblestep suggested. The other three nodded and followed close behind. The quietly approached.
"Hey there. Are you alright?" he asked the strange cat. The cat said nothing.
"Looks like a queen," Emberstorm whispered. Bramblestep came closer, Dapplecloud following close behind. He stood back in shock.
"Oh my Starclan," he managed to say.
"I'm no medicine cat but I don't quite think she's alive and well," Dapplecloud said. Bumblestream let out a shriek followed by a slap from Emberstorm.
"Not so loud now," she said with a cheeky smile.
"R-right..." she stuttered, the cold finally catching up to her. Meanwhile, Bramblestep and Dapplecloud investigated. He raised his head. "I can smell a faint smell of milk. She may have kits. We have to look for them," he said. He turned to the two she-cats behind him. "Bumblestream, Emberstorm go back to camp and tell Birdstar what happened. If we don't come back by sundown, gather more cats."
"Uh, sure," Bumblestream shivered.
"Good luck~" Emberstorm sung. The two turned around and ran back to camp. Dapplecloud looked at the deputy. "Any ideas as to where to start?"
"Let's look around here first," he said. She silently nodded and the two set to work.

Back at camp, Tigerpaw was showing new apprentice, Flakepaw, the ropes. Technically speaking they were giving the queens clean nests but it's also a good time for fun too!
"It's been such a long time since I had a den-mate!" Tigerpaw mewed, gathering up some moss.
"Oh, really?" Flakepaw replied.
"Yes, I've been all alone. Though Cinderflight said I can try my assessment soon. She says we should wait for better weather," she grinned.
"Oh, I see... Though I think the weather will be like this for some time now..." she sighed.
"That's true. So, that's why we are giving the queens new nests! It's to keep them and the kits warm! Here, Rabbitnose showed me a while ago what to do with the moss," she said. Tigerpaw showed her what to do and once they were finished, they brought it over to the nursery. Earlier they had also gathered some feathers that were stored away when it was warmer.

Tigerpaw and Flakepaw peeked their heads in. Rainpuddle was cuddling her kits and Appleblaze watched hers play. Bloomkit was rolled over and landed in front of the apprentice's paws. "Hello!" she squeaked.
"Yay! More playmates!" Foxkit yelled and ran over to the entrance. Tigerpaw giggled as the two tiny kits came for them. She brought them up and playfully wrestled.
"Hello, Tigerpaw and oh? Who's this?" Appleblaze asked, looking at the white she-cat.
"Oh, I'm Flakepaw. I'm new here. I guess..." she said.
"Well, it's lovely to meet you. What brings you two here?"
"We are giving you- OW! new nests!" Tigerpaw shouted, trying to fight off tiny kit claws and teeth.
"About time, I think," Rainpuddle yawned.
"Bloomkit, Foxkit! Came here and let them do their work!" Appleblaze yelled.
"Aw! Fiiiine!" Foxkit wailed. The two kits skipped back to their mother. Tigerpaw looked at Flakepaw and smiled. With the kits out the way, they were able to remove the old nests and given new ones. They worked together which meant it didn't take much time at all.

Rainpuddle purred on her new nest as her kits lay close to her belly. Appleblaze let hers go and they exploded in an exciting frenzy. They went out and played with Tigerpaw. Flakepaw sat with the queens and watched. Appleblaze let out a sigh.
"They will be ready to become apprentices next moon. Time surely flies," she said.
"That sounds exciting. You've raised them this far and it's now their new chapter of life," Flakepaw smiled.
"That's true. I just wish the weather was better," she looked up as small raindrops started to fall.
"They will be alright. I'll look after them anyway," she said.
"You know, for a cat so young you have some good brains," Appleblaze smiled.
"Haha, I wouldn't say that," she laughed. The rain fell harder and Foxkit, Bloomkit and Tigerpaw ran back to safety. Then they watched the rain and kept each other warm.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet here, under the Meeting Ledge, for a Clan meeting!" The ginger-and-white son of Leafstar and Whiterose, Carrotpaw, stood by his mentor, Oakshadow, as his father called the Clan into meeting. He saw that Leafstar's leaf-green gaze was clear, as if he had returned to his old self. Sighing softly with relief, he glanced at his two best friends, Thistlepaw and Hollypaw, as they, too, stood by their mentors. Carrotpaw smiled at the two cats, and they both returned the smile, though their smiles did not seem to reach their eyes. The ginger-and-white tom's face fell a little as he realized they were thinking about their dead brother, Fogkit, who could have become a warrior today if he hadn't been killed by crows. Carrotpaw forced himself to look away from the two cats as he looked at Stormfang, the deputy, as he came into the main chamber from standing guard at the entrance to the Pine Grove tunnel. The solid gray tom's green eyes were narrowed in thought, and Carrotpaw wanted to know why. 'I was tasked by Leafstar to go undercover and join Stormfang's crew. I better start acting it now,' he told himself silently. Shuffling his paws slightly, the ginger-and-white tom caught Stormfang's attention. The gray tom looked questioningly at the apprentice as he mouthed, "I need to see you after vigil." The SeaClan deputy blinked. He had understood. Turning away, the apprentice waited for Leafstar to say his opening words.

Leafstar spoke, his voice sounding strong and clear, "Cats of SeaClan, we are gathered here today to celebrate the makings of three new warriors!" The crowd went wild with the information, cheering loudly. It had been a rough few moons, even after the battle with the crows. Leafstar hadn't been himself, always cooped up in his den, with cats not knowing if he was all right or not. But here he was, his eyes clear and voice strong as ever. When the sounds died, the sandy brown tabby tom meowed, turning to Oakshadow, Carrotpaw's mentor, "Oakshadow, is Carrotpaw ready to become a warrior?" The brown tabby tom nodded solemnly, "Yes, Leafstar. He passed his assessment in the fastest amount of time of the three who took it yesterday, even in this adverse weather." Carrotpaw flattened his ears at the praise. He wasn't that great, not better than any of his friends, but he still appreciated his mentor for being so supportive of him. Leafstar's leaf-green gaze met the ginger-and-white tom's for a moment, father and son sharing a short moment of warmth and joy together. Then the SeaClan leader's gaze turned away, resting on Thistlepaw and Shorefall. Leafstar's gaze seemed to soften as he met Thistlepaw's; the sandy brown tabby tom asked, "Shorefall, is Thistlepaw ready to become a warrior?" The longhaired ginger warrior dipped his head, "Aye, Leafstar. He's very mature for his age, and he strives to always do the best." Thistlepaw stood stoically at his mentor's side, though his eyes were a little watery, perhaps from thinking of Fogkit, his brother. Carrotpaw forced himself to stay still as he vowed firmly, glancing over at where Stormfang sat proudly at the base of the ledge, 'One day, Stormfang, I'll find out the truth about you, and we will get rid of you for good!' Tearing his gaze away from the solid gray tom, the ginger-and-white tom only caught the last bits of his mother, Whiterose, answering for her apprentice, Hollypaw, "...and she has boundless energy that she will use to serve the Clan for many moons to come." Nodding in satisfaction, Leafstar meowed loudly, "You have heard it from the mentors! Carrotpaw, Thistlepaw, and Hollypaw are ready to become warriors!" Again, loud cheers broke out from the crowd; when the shouting quieted down, the SeaClan leader cleared his throat.

"I," Leafstar began, looking up solemnly into the cave ceiling above him, "Leafstar, leader of SeaClan, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down upon these three cats. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you in their turn." Turning to Carrotpaw first, Leafstar asked, "Carrotpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to defend and protect the Clan, even at the cost of your life?" A shiver of excitement went through the ginger-and-white apprentice's body as he heard the words. As a kit, and then as an apprentice, he had heard those exact words being spoken to someone else. He had always wanted to know what it felt to be standing in front of his leader, his father, to be asked the same question. He now knew the answer to that question. Carrotpaw meowed firmly, meaning every word of it, "I do." Leafstar's leaf-green eyes glowed with pride as he announced, "Then, by the power of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Carrotpaw, from this day forth, you shall be known as Carrotfur. StarClan honors your bravery and determination, and we welcome you as a full member of SeaClan." Carrotfur felt all eyes on him as Leafstar leapt down from the ledge to lay his muzzle on his head. In response, the ginger-and-white tom respectfully licked his shoulder. Though no one shouted his name yet, as there were two more ceremonies to do, Carrotfur already felt overwhelmed. 'My task starts tomorrow,' he thought grimly, stealing a quick glance at the SeaClan deputy again.

Carrotfur stood by Oakshadow's side as Leafstar continued the ceremony. Turning to Thistlepaw, the SeaClan leader meowed, "Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to defend and protect the Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Thistlepaw's reply was more relaxed, calm even, "I do." "Then," Leafstar declared, "by the power of StarClan, I give you your warrior. Thistlepaw, from this day forth, you shall be known as Thistletuft. StarClan honors your calmness and perseverance, and we welcome you as a full member of SeaClan." Thistletuft had a sad smile on his face as he licked Leafstar's shoulder; it ached Carrotfur to see his friend in such a state, but he didn't know how to comfort him, he'd never lost anyone in his family before. Sighing, he forced himself to turn back to Leafstar as Hollypaw was called. "Hollypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code," Leafstar intoned, "and to defend and protect the Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Hollypaw replied, her meow steadfast, "I do." Leafstar continued, "Then, by the power of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Hollypaw, from this day forth you shall be known as Hollyspots. StarClan honors your courage and willingness to learn, and we welcome you as a full member of SeaClan." Once Hollyspots licked Leafstar's shoulder and stepped back, the entire Clan whooped in delight as they chanted, "Carrotfur! Thistletuft! Hollyspots!"

{The next day, after vigil}
Carrotfur could feel his eyelids droop with exhaustion, but he knew he had to talk to Stormfang. He steeled himself and made his way to the warriors' chamber, where Stormfang was stretching his limbs. The gray tom's green eyes narrowed slightly as he spotted the ginger-and-white tom; the deputy asked softly, "Outside?" Carrotfur nodded and padded out of the chamber again, sensing Stormfang's gaze upon his back as he made his way to the main chamber. Once here, Stormfang asked quietly, herding the younger warrior away from the other two new warriors, who shuffled past them hurriedly, "What is it?" Carrotfur took a deep breath and meowed bluntly, "I want to join your group." My... what?" Stormfang asked, blinking in surprise, "group?" The ginger-and-white tom nodded, "I've been secretly rooting for you ever since the battle against crows started, Stormfang. I love my father dearly, don't get me wrong, but he did the wrong thing by sending warriors into battle against them. We wouldn't have lost Brightstream, we wouldn't have lost Smallwing, Mottledsmoke... and Owlfrost," he added softly. Stormfang's eyes narrowed in suspicion, "Did he order you to keep an eye on me?" Carrotfur flinched inwardly but held the solid gray tom's gaze evenly with his own as he mewed, shaking his head, "If he had, I wouldn't have approached you like this and told you about my feelings this openly." Stormfang nodded thoughtfully, "True..." He asked, "So do you believe that he should step down from his leadership?" Swallowing hard, the ginger-and-white warrior nodded, "Yes, Stormfang, I do. Let me know what to do to help you." Stormfang nodded, "All right. It will take a while for the others to trust you. I don't trust you fully," he admitted bluntly, "but we'll see." He then pinned the younger warrior down with his paws as he hissed, "If you play me false, you will be begging me to finish you off by the time you realize what's going on. Understood?" Carrotfur gasped his answer, the weight on his chest making it hard to breath, "Y...yes!" The weight lifted from his body as Stormfang meowed, "All right then. Get some rest, and later, we will discuss more things." The younger warrior nodded, still panting from the ordeal, "Of course, Stormfang." He trotted off into the warriors' chamber, not meeting the questioning gazes of his friends as he picked out an empty nest for himself. As he drifted off to sleep, Carrotfur vowed once more, 'Stormfang, you will pay.'

Honeytuft finished checking the growing number of patients in his chamber and meowed, looking straight at Leafstar, "At this rate, we can't hold them all in my chamber." Leafstar nodded, "and if we leave them alone, the entire Clan will be sick." He coughed as he murmured, "I've had Shorefall and Stormbreeze scout out a place, there is a cave system on the cliff just to the right of us." The honey-colored tabby tom's eyes seemed to glow with happiness at the news; he asked, "How do you get to there?" Leafstar meowed, "Stormbreeze says that there is a tunnel from above, just like our back entrance, that leads to the clifftop, which can be accessed by traveling to the western exit of the Pine Grove and looking about." Honeytuft nodded and ducked back into his chamber. He announced first to his apprentice, "Go, pack up all the cough-related herbs as much as you can from the stores. You will be accompanying the sick cats to their temporary camp." Dapplepaw asked, worried, "But what if I can't cure them?" Honeytuft meowed firmly, "I believe in you. And besides," he added, "sometimes StarClan means to take cats back home, to them in the stars. We must accept it." He then lowered his voice even further, causing the calico she-cat to have to come closer to listen, "And I don't trust Stormfang. I'm sending you there for your own safety." His apprentice's tail drooped a bit at the prospect, but she nodded bravely. Smiling proudly, as if he were her father, the SeaClan medicine cat then addressed the sick cats gathered in his chamber, "Leafstar will take you all to a temporary camp outside. You will come back when you are considered free of greencough." Rosefern rasped, her breaths coming out in a slow, ragged manner, "And the medicine cat?" Honeytuft meowed firmly, "Dapplepaw is as capable a medicine cat as I am now. I've taught her all I know. She will treat you all." The calico apprentice promised, "I will try my absolute hardest!" All cats nodded in understanding, save for Fernstrike. The gray tom muttered, "You're sending an apprentice to do a grown cat's work..." Before either medicine cat could counter the remark, Boompaw, the only apprentice diagnosed with greencough so far, growled, "Hey, that wasn't so nice, Fernstrike!" His sister, Jadepaw, shushed him from further remarks, as Fernstrike turned to face the ginger apprentice. The gray tom growled, "What did you say-" "That's enough!" Dustflower snapped; the former queen looked at the two toms severely before meowing to Leafstar, "Will you announce this to the Clan?" "Of course," the sandy brown tabby tom promised.

Leafstar
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet here, under the Meeting Ledge, for a Clan meeting!" SeaClan cats gathered to listen to their leader speak, though it seemed obvious that no one wanted to go near the sick cats who stuck to the edge of the crowd, near Honeytuft's chamber. Leafstar meowed, "It has come to my attention that many of our cats have fallen ill. This is due to greencough, a highly infectious disease." Nodding toward the direction of Stormbreeze and Shorefall, who were sitting next to each other, the SeaClan leader continued, "Therefore, to prevent any more cats from becoming sick, I myself will lead these cats to a nearby cave system, where we can be of no harm." He coughed slightly before concluding, "Stormbreeze and Shorefall kindly scouted for us in advance." Dipping their heads solemnly, the two toms stepped up; Stormbreeze asked, "Should we accompany you?" Leafstar shook his head, "This is a journey we must make alone; none of you must become sick after us." As Shorefall began to protest, Leafstar fixed him a hard stare and shook his head. The ginger tom sighed and stepped back, though he meowed defiantly, "At least allow us to say goodbye to those close to us." The sandy brown tabby tom nodded in agreement and stepped aside, though he warned, "Don't get too close to any of us."

Shorefall
The ginger tom padded up to his mate, Dustflower, and his adopted daughter, Daisysong, as his other adopted son, Ivynose, and biological son, Cliffpaw, did so as well. Shorefall murmured, "Dustflower..." The chocolate tabby she-cat shook her head, "No, Shorefall. Don't follow us. The Clan needs strong hunters. Warriors," she corrected herself, "and you are one of our finest." Shorefall opened his mouth to protest, but Daisysong added, "We'll be fine. I promise." Ivynose's whiskers were drooping with sadness as he meowed, "First Lily, then Snakekit, then Daisysong and you, mum? StarClan must be..." "...planning something," his mother finished for him, "they won't punish us for something we didn't do. We haven't done anything to anger them." A look of pain flashed in the former queen's eyes as she remembered her lost kits, but she mewed bravely, "I promise, I'll get right back here in a moon or two and be my old self again." Ivynose meowed softly, tears flowing down his face, "You promised, mum." The chocolate tabby she-cat murmured, "Yes I did. I'm not going anywhere but another camp, close by." She purred softly, only to cough slightly. She blinked, "Sorry." Cliffpaw sniffed, “Mama, please tell me you are going to be all right?” Dustflower mewed, “Of course I will, dear, I promise.” The brown tabby apprentice moved toward his mother, as if he were going to press his nose against his mother's belly; however, he remembered that Dustflower was sick, and pulled back at the last moment, though he seemed reluctant.

Jadepaw
The lynx point she-cat huffed, chiding her brother, "I told you! Don't go outside and catch awful coughs!" Her ginger brother sniffed, "Stop acting like mum! She's always-" Softdawn's mew sounded from behind him, "I'm always doing what, Boompaw?" The blind tortoiseshell permaqueen was padding toward them, aided by Goosewing, her friend, "Jadepaw is right, though, my little warrior. You shouldn't have gone outside so many times in this weather." Boompaw complained, "But it's so stuffy in here!" Jadepaw sighed, "But you just got confined to a place where none of your family are with you!" Boompaw scoffed, "But I still got Daisysong, my mentor, with me!" Softdawn sighed, fretting over her son, "Oh my little warrior, you have much to go before you are wise." She murmured, shuffling closer, "I'll always be with you, Boompaw, no matter what." The ginger tom murmured, "Thank you," but respectfully stepped back. Jadepaw mewed, tears forming in her brilliant blue eyes, "I'm going to miss you, brother." Boompaw's eyes were also moist as he mewed, "Me too, sister."

Carrotfur
It was important for him to act, especially now that he was so close to earning Stormfang's full trust. He stepped up to Whiterose and Leafstar. He meowed formally, dipping his head at the two, "I hope to see you both well soon." He wanted to get closer to them, to his mother, at least, to assure her that he didn't actually mean to be this distant but... He sighed inwardly and added, still in the same cordial tone, "I will continue to do my duty to serve SeaClan." Leafstar's expression hardened, though he could tell that there was still some warmth inside his father's green eyes. The sandy brown tabby tom nodded curtly, "Thank you, Carrotfur. I know I can count on you." Herding a very confused and hurt-looking Whiterose away from him, Leafstar flicked his tail as a sign. Carrotfur's half-wilted whiskers straightened up with relief. He'd understood. Turning back to Stormfang, the ginger-and-white tom hid his joy and signaled to him with a flick of his own tail. 'Did I do all right?' The gray-furred tom nodded once. 'Yes." This is it. He was in the group properly. Even Ravenwish, the most unconvinced of the group, now looked at him with newfound respect. The ginger-and-white tom trotted over to Stormfang, who had been standing with Ravenwish and Antfoot, and nodded coolly at the three toms. Stormfang's smile grew colder. Carrotfur knew that smile. It was the same smile he had on his face the time he came to join the patrol he was supposed to lead, the day Fogkit was found missing.

(Later at the sickness camp)
Leafstar
Leafstar asked, looking about the dim recesses of the camp, "Are you all settled?" Daisysong meowed, protectively curling her tail around her apprentice, Boompaw, "Fine over here!" From another corner, Rosefern mewed, Sleetsky having fallen asleep from exhaustion, "We are fine!" The sandy brown tabby tom wrapped his tail around his white-furred mate's body and murmured into her ear, "Carrotfur didn't mean it, love. He's undercover, to help us rat out Stormfang and his group of rebels." Whiterose's gray eyes widened in shock as she whispered, "What?" The SeaClan leader put his tail over Whiterose's mouth as he mewed, "Shhh, nothing should be mentioned of this, at least one of his followers is here, with us." Whiterose nodded and leaned closer to her mate, murmuring, "I'll protect you any day, my sweet Leafstar." The tabby tom murmured, "And I will protect you any day as well, my dear Whiterose."

Number of Cats: 1

The fog started to get more and more thick as Duskstar relaxed. But this wasnt right. He cannot relaxed now. There is so much work to do.

The borders need to be checked. The food pile should be filled as well as the herb stock. But he needed a medicine cat as well for the herbs.

Duskstar needs more members for his clan. But because he does not believe in StarClan, he cannot go to the moonpool requesting a new cat. So the only option left is going on patrol and looking for a cat willing to join his clan.

cait stood up, her paws cold from being in the water. she closed her eyes, remembering everything she saw while speaking with starclan as she waited for the deputy she had asked for.

a cat's meow brought her back to reality. she opened her eyes seeing a rather scared looking fluffy tom standing in the water. she poured, signalling the tom to walk out of the cold water. he padded up to her not sure whether she was friendly or not.

"hello there. are you the deputy?" cait meowed, her tone had a hint of nervousness. the whole trip made her think about the struggles that being a leader might bring. the tom didn't answer for a few moments before letting out a small purr and nodding.

"you must be cait then. i look forward to being your deputy." he meowed, lowering his head to cait. "we should get going, there is a lot to do." he added. they both left and got to know each other before going on their own patrols.
