xxthey're a rag tag group of people from all walks of life

xxthey act on impulse and stare into the face of death

xxcrazy and they accepted it. their group has no real
xxstructure to it but they do have a leader and roles
xxto take care of. although their name and the stories
xxtold about them make them out to be ruthless lunatics,
xxwhen they're really just a close family of strangers.

xxthey act mostly on impulse and carry a very 'my way or
xxthe highway' attitude with them. this sometimes can get
xxthem into trouble. they rarely fight and try to avoid
xxproblems as much as they can. they clearly rely more on
xxscavenging than hunting. other than that they carry a very
xxcalm and happy aura which can be seen as unsettling to
xxmost.
xxtheir calling card is a smiley face (very fitting) and they
xxleave it at the places they clear out. some of them wear
xxclown makeup to scare unwanted strangers away. its
xxalmost like battle makeup to them.

Welcome to Montieren Volans! The ultimate tourist location in the mountains, Montieren Volans is a quaint village known for it's beautiful mountain views, gorgeous nature, and a famous luxury boarding school and university for the elite. It has a main street where many gift shops and other tourist spots are located, and past that are a few cabins and farms. The boarding school is a little bit farther from the main street, although it is merely a short walk past some farmland. The boarding school is rather luxurious, with rooms for each student and spacious classrooms. It has a fence around the entrance and behind it lays forest, though the mountains are still visible above the treelines. The school holds a massive library filled with literature of all types, and it has large windows that let light pour inside. The town itself is beautiful, and is popular among those wanting to tour around.

Or at least, it was. Before the apocalypse.

Now, the small population has dwindled, only one known survivor; Antoinette Orscheli. She had travelled to the famous boarding school, living in the school and becoming one of the teachers. Antoinette had actually came to the school as a member of a secret agency that intended to gain more recruits for their program, though she lost communication after the apocalypse. Now, she has survived alone in the school, alongside the young male bison.

Nick latched the door behind him. His face fell into his hands and his back slid down the door slowly. Once he was sitting on the concrete floor, his elbows resting on pulled up knees, he ran his fingers through his short, soft blonde hair. They were gone. All of them. His legs screamed and his chest was still tight from sprinting halfway downtown. He could still hear the screams of his friends-no his family being attacked by those beasts. Burning tears involuntarily rolled down his cheek. He clenched his jaw as he sobbed silently alone in the dimly lit passage way. The grief soon turned into searing rage. Nick’s face retracted into an expression of fury as he glared over his forearms. He would make them pay. Every. Single. One of them. He wiped his cheeks and pulled himself up, huffing and sniffling. He took a deep breath to recompose himself and continued down the maze of hallways to where the network of safe houses were located.

Since he was the creator of said network, it didn’t take long for the man to reach his destination. A hand slid up the dark wall and his fingers flipped the switch, illuminating the large common area with a flicker. His eyes scanned the area, mentally checking the room for any changes. As far as he knew, each door to each apartment was in the same place he had left it, not a single hinge opened or patch of dust disturbed. Nick’s shoes tapped lightly against the hard ground as he made his way to the center, sliding his hands into his pockets. He stopped in the very middle, spinning slowly to canvas the area another time. He nodded his head as ideas and future plans swirled in his mind. There’d be enough room to fit a good group, especially if a few family groups doubled up. One hand absentmindedly flew to his face, thumb and pointer finger rubbing across his jaw rhythmically. His brows knit together slightly and his nose scrunched up, his tell-tale sign of deep thought. However, he was unable to spiral too far before a clattering sound shattered the pensive silence that thickened the bunker’s air. Nick’s head instantly whipped to the right to discover the source of the sound. It was coming from the main cabin, the one he would reside in. Some people might’ve grabbed a plank or piece of pipe before confronting an unknown sound during the apocalypse. But not Nick. There had been so many occasions where he was lacking a weapon, that the thought of retrieving one hadn’t even crossed his mind. Besides, what did he have to lose? His knees bent and he stalked closer to the door, which was slightly opened. Nick tensed his muscles, getting ready for a fight. He paused at the door and took a deep breath before kicking it in. His eyes darted around the room and landed on a creature hunched over on top of his desk. The creature leaped into the air, hissing and yowling. It took a few moments, but Nick eventually realized what it was. “Dallas?” He whispered in shock. The cat’s short fur was still spiked up and his teeth were bared, but it recognized Nick’s voice and became calm again. Nick moved closer and held out a hand. Dallas sniffed it and nuzzled it, giving the hand a small lick and purring. “What are you doing here?” Nick asked, scooping the cat into his arms. Dallas was Nick’s unit’s ‘communal cat’. The gang had all pitched in with the adoption fee and the vet bills. He was like their shared son. Nick thought he had been stuck inside the building with the rest of his friends, but apparently the lithe animal had escaped. “Did you follow me all the way from the outpost?” He asked, scratching behind one of Dallas’ oversized ears. The tomcat meowed, seeming to confirm his question. Nick sighed and carried the cat out to the common area. He sat on one of the tables and leaned back. Dallas curled up in his lap and flicked Nick’s chin with his tail. Nick reached down and pet the cat’s back lovingly. “Don’t you worry, Dallas. We won’t be alone for long.” He promised “You and me? We’re going to make this place a city.”

atreyum (uh-TRAY-um), a monarchy that fell under the rule of the original founder, is now solely lead by the one and only jericho freeman. the young australian took his late father's position as the crowned head whilst the elderly gentleman fought illness. atreyum, under the rule of jericho, is planned to be a warm and welcoming space. the people of atreyum are split into social categories based on their positions within the monarchy's four tiered hierarchy pyramid- the royals, sweetwater, willowwood, and cedarsmoke. / as this is a seaside space, atreyum typically lives of seafood- fish, shellfish, et cetera. this group of survivors is particularly unexposed to a lack of drinking water, as bi-nightly, the people gather in the center and boil any water their household may need for the next day. + will edit in more about atreyum later

although there is no specific religion required in atreyum, jericho and his priors were/are followers of the kuatina(koo-UH-teen-UH), a quartet of three gods and one goddess. merida, the sole goddess and front of the quartet, represents fire. the gods, markus(earth), mitch(air), and michael(water), are the lesser gods. this religion is considered universalism.
