run. just run! the molly's paws flew across the ground, her outstretched claws ripping the grass from its roots and throwing it behind her. the air was filled with pressure, pushing in on her from all sides. she shoved forward in an attempt to quicken her pace, needing to get through the pressure, needing air, needing to breathe. her tail whipped behind her and the wind threw it from side to side. if the pressure hadn't been closing in on all sides of her mind she might have been afraid it would be ripped off entirely.
the sky was dark and the smell of rain threatened her as she raced on. it wasn't long before the clouds burst, and sharp raindrops pelted her, causing her to squint her orange eyes against the assault. she let out a low wail as thunder crashed above her, opening the sky to rain down harder onto her fur. exhaustion plagued her feet but she couldn't stop. pangs shot through her heart with every step she took, but she couldn't look back. not now.
the thunder was becoming louder with every stride. the molly could feel it creeping up at her tail, waiting to take her over. suddenly there was a BOOM, and a bolt of lightning shot to the earth, much too close for comfort. it lit up the path in front of her, so that just for a moment she could make out the muddied dirt and drenched grass that she sprinted through. the wind picked up, battering her face with droplets and flattening her ears back. she shrieked as another bolt of lightning struck just behind her, as though it were tracking her, its yellow claws hissing with electricity. she whimpered and tried to speed up yet again, but her lungs were burning from pressure and her heart ached and she couldn't think anymore, only run... run... and fall.
she stumbled. no time to lose. the lightning and the thunder were chasing her and there was a forest ahead. she would be safe there, instead of the treacherous open field, where the night's storms could play its games with her.
closer. closer. she was so close. she had to get away, and she had to get to the forest. she had to. there was simply no other choice.
her breathing came in ragged gasps now. every bone in her body ached and ironically enough her throat yearned for water. she was almost there. just a few more bounds and-
a black wisp swirled into view, right in her path. it was too fast to be sure but she swore that for a split second it took the form of a cat, with glowing narrowed eyes, staring her down, blocking her from her escape. she heard hissing, not from the wisp but from all around her, hissing that was growing louder and louder. it sounded like a cat, or maybe many cats, closing in on her, preventing her flight, pushing, pushing in with that pressure that squeezed her heart and her lungs in one. she gasped and tried to skid to a halt just before she touched the wisp, but the pressure was too great, and when the flash of lightning struck right at her tail, she was already falling. the breath was knocked out of her and she felt herself slide across the ground, darkness creeping into her vision.
with the last of her strength the molly peered upwards through narrowed eyes. her mother had always thought the rain was calming. to her it had meant renewal and growth. if she'd had energy, the molly would have scoffed at the thought now. the gray clouds above had brought her nothing but torment tonight.
the last thing the molly saw was the too-catlike wisp leaning over her. its ears pointed forward but its eyes were narrowed, as if disappointed in her. she wanted to say something to it, but words wouldn't come.
then the darkness consumed her.

when she awoke, the biting chill of the wind and the rain had gone, and her fur ruffled as a soft breeze passed over it. the molly's eyes blinked open and she looked around, panic beginning to set in when she realized she didn't recognize this place. this was not the stretch of meadow that she had just been hurtling through, nor was it the forest she had been aiming for. she slowly rose to her paws, shaking off the sleep, and took in her surroundings. the sky above her was cloudy, but these clouds were the fluffy and the color of dry pebbles. she stood on top of a tall grassy hill and couldn't see trees anywhere around her.
how did i...?
a sudden hiss from behind her frightened her out of her thoughts. she whipped around and came face to face with a cat, baring its teeth at her, almost close enough to touch noses. she could feel its hot breath on her face, and she gasped and backed away. the cat's appearance changed with each heartbeat, its face shifting shape and its pelt moving from tabby to black to tortoiseshell. it moved in time with her retreat, taking steps forward to close the distance between them.
"who are you?" the molly asked, trying her best not to let her voice shake. the cat snarled at her, and when it answered, it sounded like several different voices at once.
"you have forsaken me!" it roared, and lunged at her. she barely dodged to the side in time and grief wrenched her heart at its words. she spun around as it prowled toward her again.
"i don't know what you mean! who-"
"SILENCE!" the cat growled and leapt again, this time predicting her swerve and barreling into her, pinning her to the ground. she writhed beneath it but it pressed a paw onto her chest, and she could feel claws against her skin.
"get off me!" she hissed, pummeling its belly with her hind paws, but it wasn't fazed. in fact, it seemed like her paws just went through it altogether.
they stayed like that for a while, the molly desperately trying to shove the cat off, and the cat standing over her unmoving. eventually, though, exhaustion crept into her limbs, and she stopped. her gut twisted at the thought of giving up, but there was nothing she could do.
"fine. you win." she spat angrily with the last of her fading energy. "do whatever you're going to do. i... i give up." her voice cracked and her body went limp. clearly, this cat meant to kill her, whatever or whoever it was.
but still, the cat didn't move. it stood there, considering her, eyes flashing orange and blue and green. its front paw was still pressed to her chest, and the molly could feel the vibrations of her heart against the pressure. she closed her eyes.
and then, the unexpected. she felt a nose touch her forehead, and she blinked up to see the cat leaning over her.
"you will have another chance," it murmured, and the molly felt chills run through her body.
"you are the new. you are the new." the cat repeated these words, over and over, and suddenly the molly felt incredibly tired, as though she could feel the energy trickling out of her. after a moment she realized it wasn't her energy but rather her memories- the images, names, and places were being stolen right from her mind, and she tried to shake the cat off, get it to stop, but her body would not move.
stop! she tried to scream, but her mouth wouldn't open.
"you are the new. you are the new."
weariness seeped into all of the molly's limbs and she fought to keep her eyes open. panic settled in as she realized she couldn't recall her name, but still, she couldn't move. finally, the cat stepped off of her, but even if she had wanted to, she was too drained to even turn her head towards it. its eyes bored into her, a rainbow of color against its ever-changing pelt. just before the molly's eyes closed, it spoke one last time.
"teller of the shivering shadows."

shadowteller woke in the middle of an unfamiliar forest full of mangrove trees. strangely she felt very energized, despite not knowing how she'd gotten here. the last thing she remembered was the strange cat standing over her, repeating those weird words, and stealing her memories from her. a lonely pang hit her in the chest. what was she supposed to do now? she sat down and blinked at the ground, feeling miserable. she was alone, confused, and felt that she was supposed to be mourning for something, but she didn't know what, and that frustrated her even more.
"okay... i'll just... have to keep going." she whispered to herself, voice shaking. if nothing else, surely someone else would come by soon, and maybe she could start to get some answers. for now, she had to try to live as normally as possible.

The past few moons had been calm for the Tribe of Falling Blossoms, although it had grown quite difficult for Blossomteller to keep her kits a secret from the tribe much longer. She knew deep down she would soon have to explain to her tribe that their healer broke one of the sacred rules of the tribe. To make matters worse, well more stressful than anything Acorn informed the molly that Thunder, one of the tribe's guards brought back a stranger to the heart of the tribe's territory. Their camp. With a frustrated hiss Blossomteller turned and cursed the stars under her breath. They hadn't spoken to her since the day she had the kits, of course Acorn would be well aware of the presence before any other cat. Forcing a smile Blossomteller gave her kits a small nod. "Stay put please my darlings. In just a few more moons you can meet the rest of the tribe. I promise." She spoke before quickly whisking out of her cave and out into the tribe's main gathering.

With the news of a new and strange cat among their ranks it didn't take long for all of the tribe's cats to gather. At the heart of the group stood Thunder next to a long haired brown and white tabby she-cat with striking mismatched eyes. The large silver tabby tom made the she-cat look like a newly appointed to-be, in all honestly it was quite and amusing sight at first. With a small shake of her head Blossomteller jumped on top of a cliff ledge that overlooked the cave. Acorn followed suit, sitting next to the white and orange molly. The duo exchanged a few whispers before Blossomteller finally cleared her throat quickly gaining the attention of every cat, event he new arrival. "It seems the stars have graced us with this surprise appearance of a new face. Thunder, do us a favor and introduce us to this stranger." She spoke, motioning towards the brown and white tabby molly with her tail. With a small nod Thunder stepped forward, gently guiding the molly forward as well. "As you can tell, by her scent this she-cat isn't just a stranger, but actually a clan cat. She's traveled a great distance was even graced with the experience of coming only a few tail-lengths away from a peacock." the large tom began. At the mention of the peacock many gasps erupted from the crowed around them, causing Thunder to chuckle slightly. The molly stood confused by the tom, but quickly gave a small shake of her head and stepped forward, smiling. "I am Streamebare. A fighter of ScarabClan. I didn't mean to intrude on your land." the molly spoke. More gasps erupted again, causing Thunder once again to chuckle. Streambare nudged the tom playfully before returning her attention to the tribe's leader. "As I was just about to leave, Thunder insured me that having the peacock trust me must have been a good omen." Streambare spoke once more.

The tribe stayed group around Thunder and Streambare as the duo explained the events that had unfolded and why Thunder had brought the outsider to their home. After a while of speaking Blossomteller gave a small nod, allowing the mysterious molly to stay for a few moons. Even promising to allow her return home with a few prized peacock feathers and to be escorted back to the dessert by Thunder. Seeming fairly happy with other the results turned out, Thunder happily whisked the brown and white tabby molly away to show her even more places not only around camp, but the tribe's territory. A few cats looked on with worry, but if their healer trusted Thunder to guide the stranger then they wouldn't doubt her abilities now. Thunder couldn't help but feel giddy like a kit when around this mysterious clan molly, and was very curious on how such a stranger could have such an affect on him. Streambare clearly peaked his curiosity and not to mention she was a fairly good looking molly. "Come. you only saw our territory briefly. Let me show you a whole new world."

Cyclone looked up defiantly at the brown tabby molly. the gray loner had been brought to this encampment, and, despite her size and broad shoulders, shrunk under her piercing green gaze. the black tom, ginger tom, and black molly who accompanied the tabby, blocked her in on all sides.
"greetings. i am singer of the creek song, healer of the tribe of babbling creeks. what makes you think you can just wander around on our territory?" cyclone felt a spark of indignation rise in her gut.
"for one, what gives you the right to keep me a prisoner? and two, why should i tell you? just because you told me your name, doesn't mean i am entitled to tell you whatever you want to know!" the large black tom chuckled, a deep, rumbling mrrow.
"she's got spirit!" he chuckled and she bristled. the tabby spoke once more.
"very well, if you're determined to be testy, let us answer your questions. we are not keeping you prisoner, merely controlled, for now. oh, and for the second question, because i assume you'd like to keep your pelt." the black molly beside her raised her voice.
"Creeksinger, surely there's no need to kill her. she's merely a loner. besides, we could let her stay." creeksinger considered it for a moment, before addressing cyclone.
"what's your name?"
"cyclone."
"well, if you desire, you could join our tribe." cyclone thought it over. it was true, the idea did seem appealing, food, safety, shelter, company.
"if, you'd have me, then i'd join." she said. the others grinned, as if relieved it wouldn't get messy, and creeksinger nodded approvingly.
"then, we welcome you as a full member of the tribe of babbling creeks. your tribe name will be-" cyclone cut her off.
"may i choose? i'd like to keep the cyclone part. my mother named me that, and i wouldn't bear to part with it."
"very well. your tribe name will be cyclone that stirs up clouds."

sheer and cyclone set out on patrol later that day, the large black tom leading the way through the familiar territory, showing cyclone what she must do. creeksinger had decided, that judging from her broad shoulders and strong build, she would be best suited as a valley-guard, hence it was sheer's job to show her everything she needed to know.
