Leafbare
The trees have become bare, and the days have grown short. The air is cold and crisp, and the sky is cloudy. It won't be long 'till the snow begins to fall now and prey has become scarce as they are tucked inside a nice warm den of their own. Predators and stray cats are also less likely as well as they try to brace the season themselves.

via discord i recieved permission from dinolil1 to use their flaps from the advent calendar. x3 raspberry leaves, x3 squirrels, x3 willow bark, x3 chervil, and x4 squirrels have been received.

one moon ago;
houndstar paced the length of the kit-mother's den, ears pinned as he waited. pipitcloud was inside, in labor. wickerfur was helping her. speaking of the shaman, he emerged, eyes hard. houndstar paced forward, meeting the smaller tom with an iron gaze. "what's wrong?" the dark tabby rumbled, and wickerfur shrugged. "come inside, and you'll see." the shaman trotted into his den, to get herbs for pipitcloud, houndstar assumed. the leader headed into the kit-mother's den, somewhat nervous to see the next possible heirs to his clan. when he walked in, pipitcloud was curled around three bodies, not moving. one of the kits was squirming, calling out, while his siblings were still, along with their mother. "pipitcloud?" houndstar called, pressing his paw into her side. she flopped lifelessly. the grey kit mewed louder. from outside of the nursery he could hear his older litter playing, scuffling around with the younger kits. houndstar sighed deeply, turning away. he would have his clanmates deal with the bodies. the leader was about to leave when he heard the smokey grey kit mewling again. houndstar turned around, eyeing the helpless kit. "you will be named shadekit, after my old name, as hopefully you will grow up to be where i am now." the kit settled down, seeming satisfied with the name that his father selected.

alpinenose headed into the nursery, looking for his mate. sootwillow glanced up, and the creme tom beckoned to her. "come with me, to the forest," he murmured. sootwillow nodded, glancing back at their kits. "montjackit, asphodelkit, go play with swiftkit for a bit. momma will be right back." the kits nodded and went off to play. the two mates headed out of the camp, and eventually reached a clearing where they both sat down. alpinenose didn't look at sootwillow, but the younger molly decided not to question it. alpinenose took a deep breath before speaking. "sootwillow, you're one of the only cats that i trust in this clan," he said, glancing at his mate. sootwillow nodded happily. "so i think i can tell you this. sootwillow... i'm in love with emberface." sootwillow's demeanor quickly changed from light to heavy, and she glared at alpinenose. the dark grey queen stood, eyes glinting with anger. "you're in love with someone else? after all i've done for you? i birthed your kits, alpinenose! they're your kits! and you decide to court another molly, and throw me out like crow food! i cannot believe you! you are no longer the father of these kits, alpinenose." the queen turned and stalked off, leaving alpinenose sitting by himself, already imagining the consequences of his actions.

Leaf-Bare

Weather:

There is now a nice blanket of snow covering the ground. It is cold, yet there is sun. It is a clear day, however prey is still hard to find and so are herbs. Kittings will be much harder now in leaf-bare and the chance of running into cats on a patrol are lower.

Timberstar emerged from his den, his eyes tired and worried as he looked at the clan blanketed in such snow he never would have imagined could reach them. It was so much, all because the relentless clouds did not stop their barrage of snow and cold. The trees that protected the ground from sunlight were useless in protecting from all the snow that never stopped falling. Just collecting until it was impossible to see anything. The leader looked to the nursery, glad to know that it was closed and the nests weren't placed close to the entrance. Then, the leader began trudging through the snow to make his way out of his den. Warriors began emerging from their dens, Birchfur and Fernheart venturing to the apprentice's den to let them know they will stay in camp today and will be cleaning nests and dens. Then, they all went their ways to do their warrior duties.

Shardsmoke and Hickorywhisker were resting upon a tree. It was calm where they were. No one in sight. Bare but great. Shardsmoke started to groom the she cat's fur up and meowed, "Have you ever found it weird that so many she cats are pregnant right now?" Hickorywhisker looked up and nodded with a yes. "It's funny. Even my mom." She admitted. The black tom laughed as well but meowed back, "Maybe want to join them?" The ragdoll was still laughing but it died down when hearing that. "Kits? I'd... I'd love some actually. They are just so cute you know?" She purred with a smile. Shardstorm also smiled before he nuzzled his mate. "Yeah, they are."

It wasn't long for Mapleblossom to finish kitting. She looked down at her four kits but, one wasn't moving. Oh dear. "He's dead isn't he?" She meowed. Reedberry nodded with a sigh and nuzzled the stillborn. "I think Acornkit is a cute name for him. I can name the brown tabby Bearkit, the orange tabby Brecklekit and... the black tabby Batkit. Badger and Bat both start with B's. I'd think Badgerleap would have loved these little guys." Mapleblossom meowed and nuzzled her newborns. Poppykit and Hazekit watched the newborns suckle. "Can we play with them?" Hazekit asked. "Not yet. In a moon you can." Reedberry meowed. "That's boring." Poppykit meowed before she padded off and found Tinypaw organizing herbs. Medicine cats were so smart. How could he do it. She scampered over to the tom and laid down beside him watching him. "Good day Poppykit. Like the herbs?" Tinypaw meowed once seeing her. Poppykit nodded and grabbed some cobwebs before squeaking when they wouldn't come off. "An cobwebs. Yeah they are like that. They help with bleeding." He explained to her. Poppykit nodded and scraped the cobwebs off before looking at a yellow liquid in an odd waxy shape. "Honey! It helps to sooth throats and helps medicine go down easier." He explained. Poppykit licked it and started to laugh seeing it tasted pretty good. Tinypaw smiled at the little she kit. She would be a great medicine cat one day. Too bad that he was already an apprentice.

Thundercry padded over to his mate who was chatting to Pumapaw in the nursery. Though when she saw him, the she cat tensed up and tried to ignore him. "Weaselhop I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. I never meant to hurt you I don't know what happened to me." He cried out to the she cat. Weaselhop turned to face the tom before standing up and padded over to him. Thundercry was a bit hopeful until she slapped him and padded back to her nest. She didn't want to talk huh? Thundercry sighed softly before he padded out of the nursery and out into the clan's territory. Though he wasn't alone as a few more of his clanmates padded over and tagged along for a hunting party.

Rabbitpaw had enough of this. What was Wolfpaw doing? He's been out of camp often. He even got his own sister pregnant. Rabbitpaw adored Pumapaw. He loved his sister but Wolfpaw took it too far getting her pregnant. He saw the tom talking to Icepaw and stormed on over. "Wolfpaw! Why did you get my sister pregnant! She can't finish training now thanks to you! You barely even see her! You say you're a good father but then how come you aren't there with Pumapaw checking in on her huh?" The tom snapped. Wolfpaw didn't even more. Instead the tom chuckled softly and stood up with a grim smirk. "Oh Rabbitpaw, why so angry? Beside I already have a she cat and you don't?" Wolfpaw laughed before he padded away into the nursery to prove that he was going to be a good father. Rabbitpaw was about to race after him until a loud wail was heard from the nursery. It wasn't long before Wolfpaw came rushing out and into Reedberry's den where he seemed more scared then the young tom. Why was that? He's delivered kits many times. Reedberry ran over to Pumapaw and laid down beside her. The apprentices watched the medic tom. He seemed to be more of a... father? He acted like one. Was? No.

Icepaw got too nervous of the kitting and padded away outside of camp to walk around a bit. It wasn't long before she heard a noise in a tree. Icepaw slowly padded over and yelped when seeing a tom looking down at her. "Who are you? What do you want?" She yelled nervously. "My apologies for giving you a fright!" The tom meowed and hopped down. "Names Eaglefeather girl how you doing?" He purred. Icepaw was stunned by the times friendliness but went with the conversation anyways. So Eaglefeather was a loner huh? Where did he come from? Now he wants to join the clan? Okay okay.

Among a patch of snow, Timberstar takes note of its lively movement, as if something
resided underneath. With a light slash of his paw, the mighty leader dug through the
snow, only to find a white molly, hidden perfectly against the pasty undergrowth.

"Who are you?" Timberstar snapped, his gaze cold and unwelcoming. The white molly only
rose from the ground, shaking her thick pelt to rid herself of the snow that clung to her fur.
"I'm Dovebreeze. I came in search of a place to live. The weather is at its harshest during
leaf-bare, and it will only get worse. If you allow me to join you, I will be able to help you.
And I promise you that you won't regret finding me here."

With one last peculiar glance, Timberstar sighed, a smile showing through his features.
"Welcome, Dovebreeze."
