The snow fell in a soft and pleasant flurry for a few hours before becoming a heavy snowstorm. Many cats and prey have gone into hiding, so it'll be difficult to find either at this time of Leafbare.

↪ FloodClan is no more! FloodClan is now HurricaneClan.
↪ Fire rages through the old camp, destroying it. HollyStar and BramblingClaw are dead! Their clanmates grieve before leaving for their new territory.
↪ HemlockClaw is named at the first leader of HurricaneClan! She receives her new name and her 9 lives! (Lives - Faithfulness, the importance of training the young, Fairness, Courage, Honor, Loyalty, Acceptance, Compassion, + Hope)
↪ A strange rouge comes up to the newly arrived HurricaneClan cats (with his mate ThymeTail). He claims he and his heavily pregnant mate are travelers from far away, he requests the clan at least take in his mate. But HemlockStar decides to take both in, ThymeTail decides to help around but his mate only bosses cats around. Look below for more background! (TalonStorm doesn't count as a cat, he is only here for plot reasons. He wouldn't help hunt or gather herbs or do anything. I will only add him to my ranks for save keeping.)
↪ It is decided that there will be two deputies instead of one, if the leader passes they will fight (no claws) until the other gives up or they can claim they aren't ready to be leader too. HemlockStar picks a older cat and a younger cat (ValerianRoot and VanillaStrike) as her deputies. (Also, when a cat is made leader their mate will become the leader's mate!)
↪ New ranks are formed! Watcher and Watcher apprentices, for the most observant cats. These cats watch out for dangers like wolves and lynxes on the ledge, they also advise the leader on where to send hunting patrols. No cats have been made them, only in time will cats prove themselves proper Watchers.
↪ The HurricaneClan cats found a older kitten by the border! He says his name is EaglePaw and he got lost from his old clan; HonestClan. HemlockStar and WrenCry asks him a few questions before they decide he will spend one more moon in the nursery before he will become a apprenitce and his new name is EagleKit. FrostBite decides to take him into her litter, HeatherKit is excited to have a "littermate". Proof for EaglePaw(-kit)'s adoption.

"your mate will find a good home in the nursery; she and the other dames have the best den in graveclan." he was currently patching up wiltedstar's shoulder (who scowled darkly at the attention, unwilling to be treated but forced into it nonetheless).
indent"he, actually," clovertail, the orange-tabby tomcat pointed out, curling his tail over harepuddle, his mate's, shoulders delicately. "he is a tom." he spoke as if it were a challenge, with his chin jutting out and his fur bristling slightly.
indentbut spidernose understood; just as he liked cats of the same gender, just as valerianthroat was them, this dame could be a tom. "he," the gypsy corrected himself. "my apologies, harepuddle."
indentwiltedstar butted in, then. "and you," he addressed the third of the cats who wished to join graveclan. "what can you provide for my clan? you are not pregnant, and so you will not provide new life, and you are old, with weary bones and a weak stature. why should i allow you to join graveclan?"
indentthe third of the group, another tom, dirtstripe, a skinny, frail old feline with visible hips and ribs, eyed wiltedstar warily. "i am not weak," he croaked, his voice raspy and rattling as if he had swallowed a pawful of pebbles. "your apprentices; they replace bedding, no? i can do the same, to allow them to focus on their studies. and spidernose, his name is, yes? i can help him to sort herbs. and, if required, i can watch kits; harepuddle's kits will be born soon, and i imagine that you have many more pregnant cats within graveclan. they surely would like a break from watching their offspring, and what better way to allow them that deserved break than to watch their kits for them? do you have kits, wiltedstar? you seem like a formidable father, one who takes no nonsense from their kits; i can herd unruly kits back into the nursery, for a kits curiousity is not easily contained."
indentwiltedstar stared; heavypad blinked at this much older tomcat, a newfound respect sparking in his gaze as wiltedstar once more addressed dirtstripe.
indent"fine," he spoke simply, clearly, leaving no room for argument. "but if i see even an inkling of failure from you, even a hint of weakness, you will be exiled without question. i do hope we understand one another."
indentdirtstripe dipped his head. "we understand clearly."

indentavocadokit and her accomplice, oleander, slipped through the tall, spindly grass that sprouted around the headstones, crouched low to avoid being sighted, though the feat was impressive, given the clan's impressive number of forty warriors. (though the apprentices were just as likely to rat them out, if the chance arose.)
indentavocadokit was in charge of the adventure, and oleander simply followed, for he had nothing better to do and the other kits all had their own friends that they tended to stick with. (ospreykit and webkit, of course, mallardkit and the newly born duckkit, reedkit and wobblekit, rosekit and rowankit, ripplekit and radishkit. it seemed as if every kit had an other half, someone to play wrestle with.)
indentavocadokit suddenly ducked her head, oleander's head following instinctively. there were voices, among those of which the most noticable were littlefang's, pineflower's, and a strangers.
indent"wiltedstar will surely allow you to stay," littlefang was saying from where she stood, though avocadokit and oleander could not see her.
indentavocadokit heard the stranger's voice; a deep and yet soft tone, laced with skepticism, tinged with hope. the cat smelled of tom, and he seemed to be travel-weary, as most who joined graveclan were.
indentavocadokit shot a glance towards oleander, who blinked back; the glance was full of mischief.

indentwith a twitch of her tail, avocadokit signaled their attack; she and oleander launched themselves through the grass towards the new tom, avocadokit's paws scrabbling against his flank before she managed to heave herself onto his back. (she didn't want to use her claws, of course; she could hurt him!)
indentthe new tom squawked with a massive amount of surprise, startled. avocadokit heard littlefang say her name, heard pineflower attempting to pry oleander from the silver-grey tomcat's fur, as she dug her tiny, needle-sharp teeth into the tom's scruff and attempted to tug him to the ground. (he was easily twice her size, though she did not let that bother her.)
indentthe tom suddenly rolled, his fur a flash of silver as he tumbled through the grass, landing solidly on his back, squashing avocadokit with his weight, his forelegs bunched up near his belly to protect the vulnerable squashiness of his stomach.
indentavocadokit's breath escaped her, and she released him, squirming from beneath him, tail tucked and retreat the only thing on her mind.
indent"avocadokit!" littlefang spoke sharply, padding closer, peering down at the molly who was nearly her size already (though that wasn't saying much, considering that littlefang was the smallest cat in graveclan). "you can't attack the new cats," she chastised, flicking her tail; from behind her, avocadokit could see oleander squirming in pineflower's grasp, who held him high off the ground to prevent escape.
indent"he's a stranger!" avocadokit protested loudly, scowling at the grey tomcat who groomed his fur, smoothing himself down from the attack. "he could have stolen our prey! our kits! our herbs!"
indentwhiskers twitching with repressed amusement, littlefang sighed lightly. "he's not a stranger; his name's graypaw, for now, and he's an apprentice. he'll be joining graveclan, and in a moon or so you'll be sharing a den with him, so you'd better be nice," littlefang warned, eyes flashing with mischief.
indentavocadokit squinted up at the other molly. "alright, fine," she grumbled, watching as pineflower released oleander and he scampered over to her. "why is his name for now? why isn't it just his name? are you changing it?" avocadokit peppered littlefang with questions, peering up brightly at the warrior.
indentlittlefang nodded. "he wishes to change his name; wiltedstar usually prefers name changes, anyways." she shrugged.
indentavocadokit brightened, bounding over to the tom whose eyes went wide as he leaned away from this potentially-vicious kit.
indent"what abouttttttt..." avocadokit hummed brightly, skipping a circle around the tomcat. "minnowpaw? he's slippery, did'ja see the way he rolled on me?" her eyes were bright and cheery, now, any trace of distrust vanished by littlefang's reassurance (everyone seemed to trust littlefang).
indentthe apprentice squinted at the kit. "minnowpaw?" he repeated, again with his deep, soft tone that dipped low on the vowels and was drawn out at the end of the word.
indentlittlefang hummed her agreement. "a lovely name," she commented lightly, sitting back on her haunches and curling her tail over her paws. "it is ultimately up to graypaw, though."
indentwith another slightly wary glance towards avocadokit, graypaw slowly nodded, his ears flicking. "i like minnowpaw."

Gorsebird curled her tail protectively around her kits and her three foster kits, who she had named Pantherkit, Riverkit and Nickelkit. The twolegs crouched down, ignoring Gorsebird's feral hiss as they plucked Pinekit and Fleetkit out of the soft nest that they had been sleeping in. Sunnyflower hurried over to the nest, snarling up at the twoleg. The twoleg ignored them and took Pinekit and Fleetkit over to where another and their kit were standing. The twoleg kit let out an excited squeak and yanked Fleetkit out of the twoleg's paws, earning a tiny cry from the tom.

The Echoclan deputy shot out of her nest, circling around the twoleg and growling loudly. The twoleg kit looked down at Gorsebird and blinked before leaning down, allowing Gorsebird to take Fleetkit from her and retreat to the nest. After a few moments, the twoleg kit brought Pinekit over to the nest and settled him next to Fleetkit. Sunnyflower returned to Gorsebird's side. "That's the third time strangers have come to look at the kits," Sunnyflower mewed to Gorsebird, eyeing the twolegs from the side of her eye. "I think the twolegs are going to take the kits away."

Gorsebird's eyes widened in surprise. "T-That can't happen! Sunnyflower, we need to find a way out of here." The she-cat mewed urgently. Sunnyflower nodded in agreement, turning her head as she tried to look for openings that they could sneak out of. "The male twoleg usually leaves the entrance open a lot and the female always shrieks at him, we could escape then." She suggested.

"We'll have to be quick." Sunnyflower mewed, turning her back on Gorsebird so she could keep an eye on the entrance. Even though it felt like hours, Sunnyflower never took her eye off of the entrance, waiting for the male twoleg to mess up and leave the door open. Gorsebird was ready as well, her sons and the foster kits already out of the nest and nearby so the two warriors could snatch them up and flee when the time was right.

Finally, Sunnyflower saw their opening. The male twoleg, like usual, left the entrance to the twoleg den open as he went outside to do something. Sunnyflower whirled around, snatching Pantherkit, Riverkit and Nickelkit by their scruffs while Gorsebird grabbed her sons. The Echoclan she-cats fled the twoleg den, their fur bushed up in fear as they heard the female twoleg's shrieks behind them. They didn't stop running until the house was no longer in view. The she-cats set the kits down, giving themselves some time to rest before they continued on their journey back home.

Brindlecloud made her way carefully through the snow, looking over her shoulder to check if Mousepaw was doing fine. Luckily, Crowcloud was walking behind the blind apprentice, reaching a paw out every once in a while to steer the white tom in the right direction. "Watch where he's stepping, Crowcloud. We don't want an accident." The dilute calico mewed. Crowcloud gave her a curt nod before returning his attention to the younger apprentice.

The medicine cat stopped to watch them for a few moments before turning her back on them and continuing her climb up the snowy rocks. She let out an annoyed grunt when her paw went deeper into the snow than she anticipated. "Ugh, how has nobody gotten hurt yet. This snow is ridiculous." She grumbled to herself as she took another step. As Brindlecloud brought her paw down, she felt the rock give away beneath her paws. The dilute calico let out a cry as the ground beneath her crumbled away, taking her with it. Brindlecloud felt her hind paw slam against a rock, causing pain to shoot up her leg, shortly before her back slammed into the jagged rocks below.

"Brindlecloud!" Crowcloud cried. "Mousepaw, stay here. Do not move!" The black tom ordered before clambering his way down a safer path. Brindlecloud blinked slowly as her apprentice's face came into view. "Brindlecloud, are you okay?" He gasped, sniffing at the broken and bleeding paw she had hit. "Does this hurt?"

"I... I can't feel it."

"What? Like, it hurts too much to feel it?" Crowcloud questioned.

"No... I can't feel anything."

''You're rounding up the kits for what?'' Oryxthroat inquired, glaring at Jackalflower. ''They're kits, they play and have fun.'' The grey and white queen had just gotten them to sleep when Jackalflower's orders and stomping had woken them up, causing Lotuskit to nip her ear and Shrikekit to call Larkkit a lunk-head, which led to Larkkit having a temper trantrum and ugh, chaos. ''Are you expecting them to patrol too?''

Ratclaw sidled up with a snigger, shaking her head. ''I've seen cats like this before, they are what you might call annoying.''

''And a pain in the arse.'' Muttered Cannastar, nodding sagely at Ratclaw. ''The kits aren't doing anything, Jackalflower.'' He sighed, frowning softly. ''And you needn't order everyone around, you're not the only leader here.'' The ginger tom rose, in all his chubby glory. ''I can lead too.''

xxxxxxShiningClan's base camp was founded in a small abandoned building. The cats of ShiningClan have figured out a way to separate areas of the cabin into 'dens' - using natural debris found in the forest. Sticks, smalls rocks, moss, and mud hold together as barriers to separate dens. These still need some work, but that will come in time with more cats. For now, all dens except the leader's den are in the bottom portion of the house. The leader sleeps up the stairs (and this is also where the herbs are kept, because they are less likely to get trampled, blown away by wind, etc.).

xxxxxx The surrounding area is mostly forest. On the far northeast edge of the territory there is a river that flows into a pond. During periods with little to no rain, the river is cross-able and some cats have been known to venture out of the territory to see what there is. A little ways away, beyond the river, there is a known path for Twolegs; they come hiking through the forest, sometimes alone, sometimes in pairs or groups. An occasional ATV can be heard or seen as well. From the cats' side of the pond, a Twoleg home can be seen.

xxxxxxOn the opposite side of the territory, there is an open field. The cats of ShiningClan tend to stay away from the field, and marked their territory right on the edge. No cat has yet to explore what lies beyond this field, but many speculate there is a farm with big animals, since a few cats have thought they've seen a Twoleg riding on top of a very large animal.


xxxxxxShiningClan is known to be home to cats who prefer hiding and being under cover rather than being in the open. They are constantly surrounded by trees and other sorts of cover, so being out in an open space feels very wrong to them. They aren't necessarily secretive, and are quite receptive to strangers, but they can be a bit on the cautious side since they are so isolated from other groups. If a lone cat ventured into the territory, they would be less likely to question them than a group of two or more cats. Because of their foliage and pond, ShiningClan cats are known to be strong swimmers and strong climbers.


xxxxxx Since the cats are hidden in the shade and rarely venture to where the sun really shines, they are used to colder temperatures. That being said, the winters are still harsh and effect them greatly - but they owe a lot to the building they live in, since snow does not usually get inside. Rain storms are their biggest problem, with minor flooding occuring during long periods of rain. When this happens, the cats all end up squeezing into the upper part of the cabin, where the leader usually stays by themself.


Predators: xxxxxx Occasionally Bears and coyotes. Weasels, wolverines. Occasional lost dog. Birds of prey, if a smaller cat is caught out in the open field.
Prey: xxxxxx Mice, birds, rabbits, squirrels, shrews, frogs, fish. Nothing really out of the ordinary.

Cindertail curled around his mate. His bushy tail entwined with Rabbitspark's. The new mother was proudly looking down at her daughter and sons, mouth spread in a cheek to cheek smile and tears of joy pooling in her eyes. Cindertail licked her cheek, whispering his love into her ear. "They're so perfect, Rabbitspark." He purred to her "You did amazing." Rabbitspark huffed with laughter and nuzzled her mate. She licked her kits individually. "They need names." Minkblossom pointed out sweetly. Cindertail had never seen the grumpy medicine cat smile. But now, she beamed at the couple and their litter. Cindertail was bursting with pride, examining his one and only litter he would ever have. They definitely would be great warriors when they grew up. The thin, tiny ginger kitten let out a loud mew. Rabbitspark let out a giggle. "Fiery. Just like his pelt." She whispered. "Flickerkit." Cindertail smiled "A fiery personality needs a blazing name." Rabbitspark purred, showing her approval of her son's name. "This one looks just like his father." She noticed, prushing the sooty tom with her tail. "Handsome? Amazing? The best warrior? I think so too." Cindertail teased, earning an annoyed glance from his mate. Rabbitspark shook her head. "I think it's only fitting that he shares your name." She explained "Ashkit, not too similar, not too different." Cindertail licked his mate's forehead. "Perfect." He murmured. Then, the two parents looked down on their only daughter. A dainty tortoiseshell, with splotches of tan scattering through her fur. "Her fur pattern looks like the color of lily pollen scattered on a river." Adderbreeze observed. "Lilykit." Rabbitspark breathed "A beautiful name for a beautiful she-kit." Adderbreeze's eyes widened. "Oh, no, Rabbitspark, you don't have to name her that! I was just-" She said quickly. But the mother cut her off. "No, Adderbreeze, I love it! I could never have thought of it!" She purred, blinking thankfully at the queen. Adderbreeze murmured, embarrassed at the older queen's praise.

Suddenly, Flickerkit let out a high-pitched squeak. The young tom was yowling in pain. Rabbitspark's eyes widened. She frantically pulled her son closer, nestling him to her belly. "Come on little one," she urged "eat." But Flickerkit pushed her away. Cindertail realized that his son hadn't been nursing like his other kits. In fact, he had been laying quite still in the middle of the nest since he was born a few hours earlier. Cindertail licked his lips nervously, shooting a glance at Minkblossom. The medicine cat hurried over and sniffed the kit. She nudged him with her nose, trying to get him to move. But he didn't budge. Flickerkit just emited a weak mewl. Minkblossom picked him up and pushed him into his mother's belly, swaddling him in her warmth. Rabbitspark rapidly licked his fur, spreading warmth within him. The mother was filled with panic. Why wasn't he moving? Flickerkit hadn't even touched his mother for a few heartbeats before using some of his mininmal energy to push himself away. "W-why won't he feed? Or even stay with me?" She cried, heartbreak sharp in her voice. Cindertail pressed himself against her. "T-this happens sometimes. Very rarely, but it happens." Minkblossom whispered "He isn't strong enough to feed." Rabbitspark lashed her tail. "What do you mean? His siblings are doing it just fine! If he doesn't feed, he'll...he'll" She protested, tears pricking her eyes. The mother couldn't bring herself to say what everyone in the den was thinking. "I'm sorry, Rabbitspark, but he's not going to make it." Minkblossom choked out. Almost as soon as she said this, Flickerkit let out a feeble wail and laid still, his chest flat. Rabbitspark let out a ear-peircing wail. Cindertail buried his nose in her neck fur, letting his tears mix with her pelt. Flickerkit's life, like his name, had been blown out.

Astercry slipped out of the den. Her black pelt blended well with the shadows of the night-covered camp. Her paws made a soft thumping sound as she walked quickly over the hardened ground. The nights had gotten chillier and the ground around them practically frozen, along with a few of the smaller rivers in their territory. Thankfully, though, the lake that surrounded them still was flowing and a good source of refreshing water. The warrior scrambled through the hole she had previously dug in the far corner of camp, in the tiny wedge between the cliff-face and the camp wall. She pulled herself under the bramble bush and continued out into the forest, not leaving any scraps of fluff behind. She was meeting her mate, Duststorm of FloodClan- or HurricaneClan now. She had heard of their neighbors' changes. She had hoped that he was still coming, she had important news to tell him. She wanted to start a family. They had been meeting for quite a few moons and had become mates around three moons ago. She had told him that she wasn't quite ready to have kits yet, but now she was. She knew the nursery would be crowded, but that was fine with her. She was small. She would fit. Besides, she shouldn't let other cats determine her family choices. Astercry ran through the forest, leaping over a frozen stream and scurrying to the bank of the lake. She crossed at the tree that had fallen down during one of the big storms over green-leaf that the BearClan cats had discovered just last moon, and sprinted over the moors, anxiously awaiting the sight of her beloved mate.
