Weaselstar smiled proudly from the meeting stone. “Swankit, you have reached 6 moons of age, and you are ready to become an apprentice.” The white she-cat fidgeted excitedly. “Eelshriek, though you are a new warrior, you have proven yourself to be strong and trustworthy. I hope you can pass on these traits to your new apprentice, Swanpaw.” The gathered cats cheered out the new apprentice’s name, and she touched noses with her new mentor. Weaselstar hopped down and curled around his daughter. “I’m so proud of you!” He purred, squeezing her tightly. “Dad!” She giggled “I can’t breathe.” The leader gently let her go, but nuzzled her affectionately. “I can’t believe how big you’ve gotten. It seems like just yesterday we were coming back from TwistedClan!” Swanpaw’s eyes widened. “Can we go see mama and Minkkit?” Weaselstar tilted his head. “Maybe sometime soon,” He chuckled “but first, you should go on a tour of the territory with Eelshriek.”

Smallsika swayed her hips as her tail waved in the air. She eyes Riversnap, who was grooming her belly, swelling with kits. The queen looked up and narrowed her eyes at the she-cat. “What do you want.” She spat. Smallsika’s mouth twisted into a cruel smile. Sitting down, she puffed out her chest and fluffed her fur. “Droserathorn asked me to visit him in his den.” She said, voice filled with poison “Guess your faithful mate is wavering, hm?” Riversnap’s nose wrinkled, but the warrior kept talking. “Oh, darling, don’t take it too harshly. Every man needs to move on eventually, especially when their mate is a paranoid rat.” Riversnap huffed and got to her paws, stepping close to the cat she hated most. “I’m not paranoid if you’re actually doing the things I think you are. And if you haven’t noticed, I’m the one carrying his kits.” She hissed quietly “I may be pregnant, but that doesn’t mean i can’t tear you to shreds.” She said the words with such venom that Smallsika blinked and swallowed, but the insulting smirk returned quickly. “Whatever you say, darling. I’ve got a date.” She got to her paws, swishing her white tail around Riversnap’s chest and happily prancing towards the shaman’s den.

The white she-cat paused before entering the room. She shook out her pelt to make it look fluffier and cleaner, and stretched to look elegant. She gracefully stepped into the room, spotting Droserathorn sitting facing the side wall, eyes trained on the now blossoming flower resting gently in the strip of soil. “You called?” Smallsika called softly into the den. Droserathorn flicked an ear to acknowledge her presence, and the warrior entered. “Is Oleanderpaw here?” She asked. The shaman shook his head. “No, I sent her to gather moss for the nursery.” Droserathorn told her. Smallsika lowered her tail, suddenly hesitant and unsure of the situation. Nevertheless, she took a deep breath and sat next to him, running her cheek along his. “What did you want to talk about?” She purred, nuzzling him. He growled and pushed her away. Smallsika laughed. “I like the rough side of you, Droserathorn, but I genuinely want to talk.” When the tom shifted his gaze to her, his pupils were slits. “I don’t want you here anymore.” He growled, accent thickening and fur raising “You’ve caused too much damage already and I need you out of my life.” Smallsika rolled her eyes. “You’re only doing this because Riversnap told you to.” She huffed, pressing herself against him again. Droserathorn hooked his paw around her neck and threw her against the wall. He pinned her to the surface, claws to her throat. “I mean it. Riversnap isn’t making me do any of this.” He snarled “You think you ever had a chance with me? You’re even more of an idiotic mess than I thought.” Smallsika tried to fidget, but Droserathorn only applied more pressure to her airway. His eyes were ablaze, and his fangs were bared. “Stay away from my family. If I ever see you even TALK to anyone I love, I will slit your throat and feed you to the vultures, do you understand me?” The two were muzzle to muzzle, and Smallsika could feel the furious tom’s hot breath on her face. “I always hated you. I just wanted to be nice, but obviously I couldn’t even do that without you taking it for granted. You’re a piece of crow dung. Leave me alone, you bee brained rabbit. Go ruin someone else’s life.” He gave a final press before flinging her away from him. She gasped and tumbled to the ground. Her eyes were wide, and filled with fury. Not hurt, not pity, not even remorse, just frustrated anger. “Fine.” She croaked “It’s your loss, you ratface.” Droserathorn’s claws strained against the stone flooring. “Get out of my den before I skin you.” He barked, and Smallsika spun and marched out of the den.

Smallsika stormed right back to Riversnap, who was innocently sitting beneath the willow tree. “You are nothing but a heartless fox.” The warrior spat “I was only being nice. I wasn’t doing anything wrong and you almost had me killed! You ruined the fun. You’re nothing but a bully.” Riversnap’s eyes narrowed. “Messing with other cats’ lives is not harmless.” She grumbled evenly. “Whatever, you’re just jealous because Droserathorn knew you were getting boring.” Smallsika huffed. Riversnap erupted. Leaping to her paws, she slashed her claws over Smallsika’s face, digging in and splashing blood over the ground. The she-cat wailed, but Riversnap pinned her down and slapped her in the muzzle. “Oh shut up, you cow.” She hissed viciously “Don’t you dare insult me. Maybe this will teach you not to go around breaking things just so you can fit in.” She leaned in, breath rustling Smallsika’s ear fur. “Newsflash,” Riversnap whispered eerily “there’s a reason you need to be a parasite on other people’s love instead of finding your own.” She shoved the white warrior away, and she spat in Riversnap’s face before spewing some half-baked insult and sulking away. Droserathorn slunk up to his mate. They had a shared look in their eye. “I’m sorry.” The shaman said to her. Even though they were both heated, and filled with disgust and rage, she knew he genuinely meant it. Riversnap sighed, the deep breath alleviating some of the burning hatred she felt for Smallsika. “It’s not your fault.” She said gently “That crow-heart is the type of cat that feeds off others’ pain. She deserved to get a taste of her own medicine.” The shaman nodded and licked his mate’s ear. He knew it would take a few days for the two to return to normal, but one thing was for sure: Smallsika was never going to bother them again.

It was so wrong. It was so right.

"I couldn't figure out how I felt about you for the longest time," Applestar whispered. They were standing by the banks of the River where the rushing water masked their conversation. "But then I think I figured it out."

Boulderpelt inched closer to him. By Starclan, they shouldn't do this. It might bias them, and in a bad way. But they were both grown adults and had been so for many seasons. "I...know," Boulderpelt said softly. "I've just never felt that it was right, you know?"

Applestar nodded slightly, ears and whiskers flicking. "It's so hard," he agreed. "And we're in a very difficult position."

"We could keep it quiet?" suggested Boulderpelt with a glance over her shoulder. Even as Applestar shook his head, she knew that he wouldn't have agreed.

"It's not right," Applestar insisted. "We have to tell them. That...I love you."

"And I, you."

"Will you be my mate?"

Boulderpelt smiled sadly. This would be the end of an era, one way or another. "Yes. Yes. Absolutely. I will."

"How did Dustleaf become a medicine cat, mamma?" asked Goosekit as he pawed at a small ball made of twigs.

Neritestream was... Surprised wasn't exactly the word for it. Resigned, perhaps? Her son had been wandering into the medicine cats' den for a couple of moons now, making himself both a nuisance and a help to the three cats that resided within it. Larknose had told her quietly that Goosekit already knew the names and uses of some of the basic herbs--poppy seeds, cobweb, oak leaves, and catmint, to name a few--and although Honeystar had instituted the rule that cats could not choose to become medicine cat apprentices until they had trained as warriors for at least three moons, it seemed clear that Goosekit already knew his path. Dustleaf had been much the same, Neritestream had been told, and had constantly chafed against Honeystar's edict. Goosekit was likely to do the same. But it was best for him. Best to give him the option of a normal life.

"Well," said Neritestream carefully, "she first trained as a warrior apprentice because it's very important for all cats to be able to hunt and defend themselves." Goosekit looked up eagerly.

"Fight?" he asked. "That sounds fun!"

Neritestream smiled despite herself. "We don't fight," she chided gently. "We defend." Although he was growing up quickly, he was still nothing more than a kit. And her kit at that. Which meant that he needed to learn many many things. She wished again that there were some elders in the clan, who could teach her kit these things. It was one thing to hear it from one's parents (hint: the kit never listened) but it was another to receive the same lesson from an adult or elder (hint: they always listened).

"And then," Neritestream continued, "Dustleaf asked Crowcloud--"

"Who?"

"The first medicine cat of Forestclan."

"Oh." Goosekit went back to his ball, now moving it around in a pale imitation of the games he played with the other kits.

"She asked Crowcloud if she could become the medicine cat apprentice, and he said yes."

"Just like that?"

"Mmm...yeah. Just like that."

Foxes were tenacious creatures. They kept trying to make their dens in Forestclan territory, no matter how many times they and their kits were driven out. So it was up to Cherryclaw's patrol to drive this one away. And as usual, cats got hurt. The fox bit so hard on Beechwhisker's front leg that she swore it had touched bone. Reedfur's leg was broken outright. Fallowstripe got away with bad scratches, but only scratches nonetheless. The others managed to escape with nothing more than scrapes and bruises. Cherryclaw honestly felt that it wasn't a bad mission, all told. Of course, Reedfur would need immediate attention but no one died. She shut down that line of thought before it could lead anywhere. If only they'd had a patrol that day. Maybe that could have changed things. They should have started going out in groups of two or more. But maybe he would have struck anyways. But they'd have known sooner, right?

"Cherryclaw."

The red molly flicked her ears in mild surprise as Commastorm's voice broke into her thoughts. "Mmm?"

"Reedfur can't keep up."

Cherryclaw suddenly realized how far away Commastorm seemed and turned to look. She was supporting Reedfur, who had gone quietly stiff with pain. "Whimbrelheart," she barked, "run to camp and get a healer. Tell them that Reedfur has a broken leg." The tricolor molly nodded, eyes wide but intense with purpose. "Fallowstripe, Beechwhisker, I'll walk with you. Commastorm," Cherryclaw said, turning back to the tortoiseshell, "stay here with Reedfur."

"Okay."

"C'mon. The quicker we get home, the quicker you get help." Cherryclaw flicked her tail, and her two charges began walking.

It’s that time again, where the leaves change their color and fall off with the wind. Prey seem to be in a frantic scurry as they finish their preparation for the coming leafbare, it seems like the clan cats will be too. Predators will be out more as they too prepare for the cold season.

As you all have may noticed CaC has its very own lineart! The lines were created by the very talented Grey_Hoodie and are being colored in by various other mods, mini mods and the CaC artists. Allowing us to use the lineart for your cats lets us give more unique patterns as we are limited to free to use pictures. If you want your cats to be transferred onto the lineart all you have to do is get in contact with a mod and the team will take care of it.

I have also noticed that a lot of you have not been adding pebbles correctly. Remember, every post you make you get five pebbles automatically. Patrols will sometimes bring back extra pebbles they find as well! Pebbles can be used here at the cac store anytime!

is where the clan resides. founded by eveningstar, the descendant of one of the
leaders of the great clans, newcomers to the clan must prove to be trustworthy
and loyal before they are considered a full member of the clan, but nevertheless,
they are welcomed into the woods. predators include moose, bighorn sheep,
bald eagles, bobcats, and grizzly bears, any of which can easily claim a cat's life,
and so from an early age, kits and apprentices are taught to be wary of them.

only the brave, and perhaps foolish of cats would wander into it's depths, but it
is where the clan resides. founded by eveningstar, the descendant of one of the
leaders of the great clans, newcomers to the clan must prove to be trustworthy
and loyal before they are considered a full member of the clan, but nevertheless,
they are welcomed into the woods. predators include moose, bighorn sheep,
bald eagles, bobcats, and grizzly bears, any of which can easily claim a cat's life,
and so from an early age, kits and apprentices are taught to be wary of them.
