ghost watched the bushes rustle, his ears perked and claws unsheathed, valiant and mage behind him. "come out from the shadows." he called out calmly, projecting peace to the siblings trembling behind him. "we will not hurt you."

"well i should hope not, ya punk." a voice responded, and ghosts heart sped in his chest, hope rising despite the odds.

"...haunt?" he asked tentatively, and the black tom finally revealed himself.

"been a long time, ghost."

ghost leapt onto him, purring madly, sure that even the cats at camp could hear it. "haunt!" he cried out, nuzzling him, breathing in his scent. "oh, i missed you!"

haunt let out a startled huff that quickly became a laugh, his eyes lighting up. "way to make a cat feel welcomed! hope you don't greet everyone joinin' your clan like this!" he leered, and ghost sat on his haunches in shock and disbelief.

"you - you mean..." he breathed out, afraid to even say the words out loud less they not be true. haunts face softened and he purred, linking their tails together.

"yeah, punk. i'm here to join your clan."

haunt watched the new clan with wary eyes, making sure to keep ghost in his eyesight. he had just gotten him back, after all, and it wouldn't do to lose him again.

he turned to mask, who watched him with narrow eyes. "you and the captain are close." she commented, and haunt snorted. "close? close is an understatement." and it honestly was. their hearts were one, haunt was carved from ghosts ribs. they were an extension of one another, nothing could part them. which is why haunt had came back, he had heard the whispers and knew that ghost would be at the root of them.

"are you mates?" mask asked calmly, and haunt side-eyed her. "you're fishing." he stated calmly, wrapping his tail around his paws primly. "and i don't like cats who fish. he tells me you've been real good here. watched out for him. i respect that, but i don't trust a cat whose name is a charade." they weren't mates, at least not yet. but haunt knew that ghosts heart only beats for him, and the reverse. he would ask soon, but not yet.

mask puffed up angrily, opening her mouth to reply, but then ghost bounded over, drawn to haunts side like a magnet. "oh, i'm real happy you both are talking!" he said excitedly, his smile wide. mask gave haunt another look, then turned to ghost and smiled back. "of course. i was just checking with haunt to see what patrol i should take."

haunt flicked an ear and replied, "take valiant, pinpoint and mage hunting. we're going with dread on a border patrol." he didn't miss the sharp look mask threw at him. haunt wasn't stupid, he knew as soon as he came into camp that there was something off about the other cat. vicious and bloodthirsty, dread was. and haunt couldn't let any harm fall to his captain. mask nodded sharply and turned, calling out for the soldiers before leaving camp.

Weather:
Leaf-fall- The air has a slight nip to it, easily finding its way inside dens, so make sure to repair your dens and patch any cracks. The twolegs and their dogs won't come into the Clan territories as often as they do in greenleaf, but you will still see them from time to time. Foxes and badgers are now more commonly found, so be careful. Kitting will start to become harder during this time.

honestclan cats, per to the name, are very true.
they forgive easily. they trust openly but their distrust is something to be feared.
do not underestimate their small sizes, for they easily deliver strong
blows in battle. despite their frequent honesty, honestclan cats are very good liars
when they need to be - only breaking their code of honesty when absolutely necessary.
they are built sturdy and small, as they live up in the rocky mountains.

their territory consists of many plateaux and stony ledges. their camp is a cave,
stalactites at the mouth - so it was lovingly named 'the lion's bite'. the rest of the
territory is plateaux, and a pine forest all the way at the edge of territory. there
they take weekly travels to bring back prey to stock the clan for at least a month.
their only source of water is from the underground river right under camp. follow
the river far enough and you will find 'lion's fall' - a waterfall and where the medicine
cat goes to speak with the great ones - or starclan. going to this place without a medicine
cat is considered trespassing on holy grounds.

up north, the clan faces a lake, eastwards, open fields, south, deep forests which is
where the territory ends, and westwards, is more mountain - they have yet to explore
west, east, and north. the prey in their territory is usually small rodents, squirrels, voles,
mice, hares. they never fish, or swim, despite the river running below camp.

their warrior code is very strict - and if anyone breaks it they are called upon by
the council of ari'el - which means lion of god. if it wasn't too obvious, this clan
worships lions and often are visited by mountain lions that bare gifts. these lions
come every month, and make up some of the cats in council. most of the council
though, are clan cats, being the leader, the deputy, medicine cat, and one elder.
the other two are mountain lions.

the rocky mountains are home to a generally reclusive group of cats known as hailclan. due to high moisture content and freezing temperatures, hailstorms are common year round, but are most dangerous through the months of may to september. despite this, hailclan has managed to survive several generations by taking shelter underground during such storms. however, most of the year they nest above the ground in bristlecone pines or blue spruce trees.

while hailclan cats are not particularly faster nor stronger than other clan cats, they take pride in their adaptability and ingenuity. their diets consist mostly of rainbow trout and western toads, along with the occasional otter or ground squirrel. coyotes and black bears are their most dangerous enemies, along with wolves and lynxes.

Brightstream chuckled, "They were having fun with Bellkit and Carrotkit when I came out." Her ears drooping slightly, the deputy added softly, "They are always being so careful around Dapplekit, I'm so grateful to them." Tundra assured the she-cat, meowing, "Ah, don't worry about li'l Dapplekit, she'll grow up fine, I'm sure." Brightstream mewed gratefully, "Thanks, Tundra."

Leafstar walked back inside, Louis behind him. The young tom dipped his head politely to the two cats and introduced himself, "My name is Louis. Pleased to meet you both." Leafstar mewed, "This is the cat I wanted both of you to see. He is a former kittypet, who wishes to join us." Turning to Tundra, the sandy brown tabby tom continued, "I'd love you to mentor him, Tundra." The former rogue blinked, "Me? Are you sure, Leafstar?" The SeaClan leader nodded as he turned back to Louis and mewed, "This is Tundra, a warrior of SeaClan. He will be your mentor." The brown tabby tom turned to Tundra and mewed, bowing his head a bit, "I 'ope to learn many things from you, monsieur." Tundra replied, blinking at the younger tom's accent, "And I hope I can pass down all I know of the ways of SeaClan to you as well." Nodding back to Brightstream and Leafstar, the former rogue mewed, "I think you two have things to discuss more, so I'll leave you two now. Louis, I'll show you the training grounds right now." The younger brown tabby nodded excitedly and followed Tundra out. Leafstar meowed, "I was thinking Brownpaw, but it sounds a bit bland for Louis." Brightstream thought for a moment before she suggested, "Hawkpaw? He seems determined and keen-eyed for a kittypet." Leafstar nodded slowly, "Makes sense. He'll be Hawkpaw then." Nodding, Brightstream mewed, "That settles it. I'll let the queens know." Leafstar nodded and dismissed her.

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet here, under the Meeting Ledge, for a Clan meeting!" Leafstar called from his lofty perch. The cats of SeaClan slowly filled the main camp as they noticed the presence of a new young cat among them. Ripplepaw, Ivypaw, and Daisypaw, the older apprentices, nodded excitedly as Sagepaw looked relieved to see an apprentice around her age. Leafstar meowed, sweeping his leaf-green gaze across the clan, "Today, a young cat, free from the grasp of the Twoleg he once lived with, has requested to join SeaClan as an apprentice. Does anyone have any objections?" All the cats shook their heads, though Stormfang had an unreadable expression on his face. Nodding toward his Clanmates, the SeaClan leader continued, "With no objections, we will welcome young Louis to our ranks. Come forward please." The brown tabby tom did so as Leafstar intoned solemnly, "I, Leafstar, leader of SeaClan, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down on this cat. He has requested to join our Clan and learn of your ways." Looking directly at Louis, the sandy brown tabby tom meowed, "Louis, from this day forth, until you have earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Hawkpaw." Turning to Tundra, standing nearby, Leafstar concluded, "Tundra, ever since you came to us as leaf-bare gave way to newleaf, you have proved yourself to be a valued member of our Clan. You will be mentor to young Hawkpaw. I hope that you will teach him the ways of SeaClan." The Siberian tom nodded slowly and meowed solemnly, "I won't disappoint you, Leafstar." The former rogue came to meet the newly-named Hawkpaw and the two touched noses with each other, ending the ceremony. The cavernous chamber rang with the shouts of SeaClan cats, "Hawkpaw! Hawkpaw! Hawkpaw!"

(Now)
Leafstar meowed loudly, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey meet here, beneath the Meeting Ledge, for a Clan meeting!" All SeaClan activity ceased as medicine cat, warriors, apprentices, queens, and one certain kit came out of their dens for the meeting. Bellkit, the pale gray-and-white she-kit, was heard protesting to Silverstorm, her mother, "Mama, I think I'm groomed enough!" The gray queen scolded her, "Shhhh!" and continued to groom her daughter's fur. Leafstar spoke, as Brightstream, the SeaClan deputy, took her place right under the ledge, "Cats of SeaClan! Today I only bring good news! Mintnose has healed fully, and may return to her duties!" The gray Maine coon she-cat's ears perked up as her Clanmates shouted words of "Congratulations!" All attention turned back to Leafstar as the sandy brown tabby tom declared, "Ripplepaw and Ivypaw are ready for their final assessments- Emberwhisker and I will take them to the river for their assessments today!" The Clan erupted into shouts of "Congratulations!" and "Good luck!" as Ripplepaw and Ivypaw puffed their chests out in pride. When that settled down, Leafstar spoke again, his leaf-green eyes focusing on Bellkit, "Silverstorm will now turn to warrior duties that Bellkit, her daughter, has reached six moons of age." He mewed after a pause, "Come here please." The young gray-and-white she-cat shakily made her way to the front and faced her leader, her eyes wide with nervousness. Leafstar declared, "Bellkit, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Bellpaw." Turning to Nightwing, who was sitting next to Oakshadow, the SeaClan leader continued, "Nightwing, you have proved to be an excellent warrior. You will be mentor to young Bellpaw. I hope that you pass down your knowledge of our Clan to her." The former AdderClan warrior looked up at Leafstar with shock in her pale green eyes. After a moment, the black she-cat stood and carefully made her way to the newly-named apprentice. The two she-cats touched noses with each other as the Clan roared out, "Bellpaw! Bellpaw! Bellpaw!"

Nightwing meowed, "Bellpaw, we'll start by learning how to stalk. Stalking prey efficiently is key to successful hunting. I was due to go on a hunting patrol with Shorefall, Stormfang, Sagepaw, and Daisypaw soon, so how about you go on it as well? We might go see the borders by the Pine Grove area while we are at it." The gray-and-white she-cat nearly jumped up and down with joy as she mewed, "Yes please!" The black she-cat nodded and turned away to speak to Stormfang, who had been waiting form them, "Mind if I take Bellpaw with me on hunting patrol?" The solid gray tom nodded, "That's a great idea." Sagepaw, Stormfang's apprentice, mewed excitedly, "You'll be fine! I love hunting!" Daisypaw mewed, smiling, "Bellpaw, just do as Nightwing says, and you'll be hunting birds out of the air like her!" The three apprentices excitedly began speaking to each other as their mentors led them into the Pine Grove.

Tundra meowed, "Hawkpaw, come on! I'll teach you the importance of fishing, and how to do it properly today!" The brown tabby apprentice came running up to his mentor and mewed, "I'm ready, monsieur!" Chuckling softly at the young tom's enthusiasm, the Siberian cat meowed, "Let's get going; Oakshadow's already at the river, waiting for us." Hawkpaw nodded, "All right!" The two toms picked their way down the narrow Walkway carefully and headed toward the river on their western border.

Leafstar meowed, glancing at Emberwhisker, who nodded, "Ripplepaw, Ivypaw, today will be your final assessments. If you pass this you will become warriors. Are you ready?" Ripplepaw purred, her gray pelt rippling, "Yes Leafstar!" Ivypaw mewed, eyes shining with determination, his shyness taking a backseat in his focused state of mind, "Of course.". Emberwhisker took over, meowing, "You two will first have to use all your hunting and fishing skills to catch five pieces of prey each. Report to Leafstar when you are finished." The two apprentices nodded solemnly as Leafstar meowed, "We will be watching you from the shadows, noting anything special as they come up. Good luck." Ripplepaw and Ivypaw looked at each other, then set off into the thick foliage of the forest surrounding the river.

Dustflower meowed, "Now that you are going to take up warrior duties, Silverstorm, we'll show you the borders, one at a time. How does that sound?" The former queen nodded, anticipation clearly in her eyes, "Of course, Dustflower." Patchcloud beside them mewed excitedly, "Hey, I'm not the rookie of the Clan now!" Silverstorm retorted playfully, amusement in her eyes, "Oi, I'm older than you!" Chuckling, Dustflower pointed out, "I'm the oldest of us three on border patrol. Come on, you two." The chocolate tabby she-cat led the black-and-white tom and silver tabby she-cat out toward the Pine Grove.

Mintnose yawned. She complained, "Honeytuft told Leafstar I'm ready to return to my full duties, but I'm on camp guard?" Vinescratch meowed patiently, "Mintnose, he said, 'Take it easy for a few days,' right? Besides," the gray-and-white tom soothed, "Guarding queens and kits from potential threats is important!" Rolling her eyes, Mintnose mewed, "You volunteered though." Vinescratch sighed, his paper-thin patience reaching its breaking point, "Mintnose, that doesn't mean anything. I just want to keep them safe, is all." Mintnose sighed, "I know, I know, I just wanted to take a whiff of fresh air for once." Vinescratch meowed, somewhat irritated by the Maine coon's whining, "You can ask Leafstar when he comes back."

it was raining.
he would need to move quickly if he wanted to outrun the storm.
with the agility of a mule deer, the young cat skillfully made his way down the mountainside, careful not to slip on the slick stones. the sun had just begun to set when dark first reached the cave, but the clouds had blocked out the light hours earlier. he stood there for a moment, allowing the cool waters to lap over his paws, watching the pool ripple in the darkness. paws tingling with unexpressed excitement, dark allowed his head to dip, succumbing to darkness once his nose touched the water's surface.

it was all a blur.
the dazzling lights and ethereal beauty of another world blinded him. possible futures corrupted hopeful dreams and poison-laced warnings came with agony and new beginnings. in a matter of seconds, he was back at the beginning, when in reality, hours had passed during his visions of ancestral beings.
