eyes narrowing in suspicion, the sleek black she-cat reluctantly and warily sat down, her ears flattened against her head. the cat across from her was long-bodied and agile, her regal muzzle tilted up in determination. ”who are you, and what are you doing here? I haven’t seen you on our lands before.”

”my name is batfang. the god of gods, olektan, has sent me from valhalla to aid you as your cleric, your medic and your healer.” the cat spoke easily and clearly in their native tongue of norse so she was forced to accept that the gods had sent her here, and she would trust she knew the ways of healing with herbs.

”very well. welcome to styrkrclan, batfang. I am the queen, noctulestar, of the clan. come now, and meet your clanmates.”

xxxxit was a bit surprising at first, the return of this long-forgotten clan.
for a long time many had thought that the clan had disappeared into the
abyss, consumed by the fire of abandoned memories and sorrowful song.
but from the ashes they rise, once forgotten yet they will let their name
ring out clearly for those who may or may not wish to hear it. laurelclan
is back, and they are ready to climb to the top.

xxxxany other author describing the birth of a new faction would most li
kely start out their stories with a description of the day surrounding the
event, whether the moon is dark and full, or the concrete is warm with th
e rays of the summer sun. normally the story taking place today would st
art with such an introduction, however, nobody quite knew about the day
where laurelclan finally made a comeback. it wasn't sudden at all, more
like a slow-burn romance in the strange young adult novel that you would
pick up from the bookstore. and just like a novel, there was certainly rom
ance involved.

xxxxhe walked a bit funny, savoring one paw. if you looked closer you wo
uld discover a torn claw, blood leaking from the wound. the tom seems
familiar, perhaps you've seen him around? he's come out of hiding, you kn
ow, and he's ready to assemble an army. but he can't quite take over with
out help. but he knows exactly where he is going to go.
xxxx"coyotestar. aren't you looking stunning today? long time, no see. but
my, am i excited to see you." his eyebrow cocked playfully, and the molly,
who goes by the name of coyotestar, offered a small smirk in exchange.
xxxx"charming as always, alpine- i mean, bearstar. you certainly are going
to confuse a lot of cats with the change, aren't you?" the two cats were
relatively close, offset-white coloured coats occasionally brushing against
each-other. there was an unidentifiable spark in their eyes. bearstar's tail
flicked meticulously. "your cats are faring well in my clan. i worry
about the apprentices, however. they would not stop talking about laurel
clan, even when redirected. they will be estatic when they hear that the
option to return to laurelclan is available. rebellious young ones, i assu
me. they take after you." a slight chuckle was shared in between the two
leaders, as it was well known that bearstar most likely fathered half of
the clan, along with many kits from other clans. "but i know you are here
to discuss the future of the city, so let us begin such a conversation."
xxxxand so the two talked, though they often strayed off the path of conv
ersation, instead opting to discuss bearstar's... paternal instincts. bearstar
found that coyotestar would often tease him about the subject, but he
slowly noticed that he didn't mind. when she spoke he wouldn't notice the
topic of conversation, but how she spoke and how passionate she seemed.
bearstar sat up a bit, straightening his posture as they continued the eerie
mix between friendly banter and forthcoming discourse.
xxxxcoyotestar got to her paws, blinking sleep away from her eyes. they
had talked all through the day, and the sunlight was getting weaker by the
minute. bearstar glanced up, the moon was peaking over the towering sky
scrapers of the city. the concrete felt cold on his paws, yet it had once
been a source of warmth for him. "it seems our time is over. i will return
to my clan and announce your return. expect your cats to come back
tomorrow, i am sure they must be tired at this time of the day. good luck,
bearstar. but remember i will be with you every step of the way."
coyotestar turned and walked off towards the wildclan camp. bearstar
watched her walk off, an ache in his chest which he had never felt before.
bearstar stood, tail dragging against the ground as he pivoted and headed
back to the corner of the park that he had found earlier that day. it was
time to prepare for the uprising.

xxxxhe had been walking the city for days, his black pelt blistering under
the sun. he was larger than average cats, which had always been a point
of judgement for others. there were whispers from the other rouges and
loners that there was a strange tom within their midst, one who wanted
to gather other cats and form an army stronger than any other. he picked
up a paw, turning it and extending his long, glistering claws. he certainly
wasn't out of practice. knowing how to fight was essential in the city, as
everywhere you turned, another cat jumped out, wanting to steal your
food or your sleeping space. the tom had operated alone, and he wasn't
yet sure if a group setting was suitable for him. but why not try?

xxxxit wasn't hard to find the cats. a strong, alien stench leaked from the corner of a small park, and if you got close enough, you could hear voices. of course it was a feat if you did get close enough, as guards were stationed everywhere, even where you would least expect it. the tom chose his steps carefully, circling the outside of the camp before deciding to head in closer. yet before he could, he was intercepted by a small bundle of fur. because the attack was unexpected it knocked him over, but there was no damage done. the tom stood up and looked down to see a panting cat, too young to be full grown but too old to be considered a kitten. the tom tilted his head, watching as the small cat straightened themself. "my name is montjacpaw of laurelclan. you are an intruder, and we must attack! come on, onyxstone! he's here to steal prey!"
xxxxstartled at the mention of another name, the tom looked around. behind little montjacpaw stood a cat slightly smaller than him, which was certainly a surprise. she shook her head delicately, then glanced up at the tom and purred, voice laced with amusement. "i'm sorry about montjacpaw. he's been training with me for two moons now, i would assume that he had learned the warning signs of an intruder, and how you didn't fit any of them." she glared at montjacpaw, and he seemed to shrink into his own coat. the she-cat looked back up at the tom. "i'm sorry for the surprise. my name is onyxstone, and as montjacpaw said, we are from laurelclan. we live right back there." she pointed with her tail and the tom's eyes followed the end of it, which pointed to a cluster of bushes. a cough from the molly brough his attention back, his golden eyes meeting her steady green. "what is your name, traveller?"
xxxxthe tom contemplating revealing his identity to the molly, but her enchanting eyes forced the truth to flow from his mouth. "my name is cormorant, and it's nice to meet you, onyxstone. and you, montjacpaw." the tom, cormorant, glanced at the younger cat once more. "what do you do, in, what was it? poppyclan?"
xxxxmontjacpaw shook his head. "laurelclan! we're a clan of cats who hunt and fight together. we are together for survival, i guess, or just the comfort of a unit. everyone is pretty independant, though. it's a pretty hard lifestyle to swallow if you aren't clanborn, but we accept loners and rouges. if they can pass our test, of course."
xxxxcormorant took a few steps back. "test?" he asked, a bit wary.
xxxx"yes, we test any rouges and loners that want to join our clan. just to see if they can fend for themselves, fight, hunt, and provide for others. it's a bit of a process, but i think you'll be able to pass." onyxstone offered a kind smile to cormorant, and he dipped his head in response.
xxxx"thank you for letting me know. if you don't mind, could you lead me back to your camp? i would like to speak with whoever is leading you, so i can see how clan life is like and see if i want to take this... test that you mentioned. just to see if it's worth it, you know?" cormorant liked the idea of a test. it seemed like this clan is well organized, and they knew what they are doing.
xxxxonyxfeather dipped her head, flicking her tail to montjacpaw. the apprentice dashed off. "he's just letting the camp know ahead of time that you are coming. you'll do fine, and everyone in laurelclan is pretty warm. well, not everyone, but i think you know what i mean." cormorant didn't but he nodded his head anyways. "sounds good, cormorant. follow me, and you'll see what laurelclan has to offer."

Hunting Patrol; Meeting a Rogue Group

Fadedsong was hunting in the plains section of LambClan territory. She was stalking a rabbit, who was chewing and a long blade of grass. Its eyes darted around as if it sensed that the she-cat was stalking him, but it still remained sitting comfortably and chewing on its dinner. The medicine cat stalked her prey carefully, making sure she didn't alert him and making sure she was ready to chase after him if it ran off. Closer and closer she crept until she was leaping distance from him. She made the jump, but the rabbit heard her and took off. Fadedsong landed on the ground with a paw-full of grass in her claws. "Mouse-dung." She breathed, turning away from her to-be prey. She was going to give up entirely on hunting, but then she felt something large bump into her. Turning around, she noticed that it was a hare.
"Kill it, Fadedsong! Kill it!" Flurrytuft called with the rabbit she was stalking in his jaws. The hard looked too shocked to move so she had ample opportunity to kill it, but still, she whipped around and lunged her head down to bite the creature's neck. It went limp and she raised up, feeling rather proud of herself.
"I did it! Wait until Lambstar sees what I caught!" Fadedsong hailed over to Flurrytuft, bounding over to him. The gray tom purred at her, dropping his prey at her paws.
"She should be here in a moment. For now, why don't we eat some rabbit? I'm starving!" The gray tom exclaimed, sitting down and tearing away at the brown buck. Fadedsong bent over and began eating too. She hadn't all day and hunting had worn her out. The two felines consumed the rabbit until Lambstar approached them with a rabbit and a bird in her mouth. Spitting her prey out, she greeted her Clanmates. "Eating without me, I see." The white she-cat said, looking down at the rabbit.
"Oh, yeah, heh. You can eat the rest. I also think I'm done hunting for today, so I can carry the prey back."

Once Lambstar finished eating, Fadedsong kept her promise and dragged the rest of the prey back to camp. The white leader and the gray tabby deputy headed off to look for more cats. The two went South, towards the rocky territory, to see if they could find a cat or two. Lambstar looked towards the rocks to see if there were any good climbers chasing some prey and Flurrytuft looked near the water to see if any swimmers or thirsty cats were helping themselves to some fish. At once, the two said:"Lambstar-" "Look!" They saw a group of cats. Some swimming, some hunting, some basking in the sun, and some playing with each other. It was like a Clan, but smaller and only with enough cats to fill the high ranks and one warrior. Flurrytuft and Lambstar looked at each other, unsure of how to approach. Those cats were quite clearly rogues, but what if they tried to attack them? Neither cat truly knew how to fight. Luckily for them, they didn't have to answer that question.
"Well well well, what do we have here?" Flurrytuft heard a tom say to the rest of his group. "Two more cats without a home? Who are you and what do you want?" The cat speaking was a plain dark-brown tom. His pelt was neat and his eyes had an intimidating glint in them. His paws were rather big and LambClan's deputy could see that the tom was flexing his claws, but despite all this, it didn't look like the tom ever fought a day in his life. He looked rather young but at the same time, like the oldest of his group
"U-um.. Greetings, I'm Lambstar. Leader of LambClan. This over here is my trusty deputy, Flurrytuft. He helps me lead LambClan." She said, dipping her head to the brown tom. Flurrytuft stared at Lambstar, surprised that she went from the scrawny, unconfident, pitiful kit she was back in the day to a more certain, brave, and prideful she-cat she is now. He dipped his head as well, following her lead. "We actually have a home. An entire camp, in fact. Perhaps you'd like to join rather than live on these sharp, uncomfortable rocks?" Lambstar continued, looking around at all the cats, hoping that'd be enough to get one to consider the words she was saying.
"Go on." The dark brown tom said, sounding unimpressed by what Lambstar had to say so far.
"Well, in LambClan we work together to help each other survive. We hunt, train, patrol, and basically work together. I, the leader of LambClan, make sure I do my best to figure out how to protect my Clan from any and all possible threats or dangers of my Clan. My deputy helps me to do this, and gives out patrols. My medicine cat heals all my wounded or sick warriors-" Lambstar said, until she was interrupted by the brown tom.
"Heals sick warriors?" He asked, ears perked. Lambstar thought that was what was going to get him to join, but a sarcastic laugh from him proved her wrong. "Yeah right! No cat I know can heal sick cats. You have to be strong in order to fight against illness. Everyone knows that."
"No, she's being serious," Flurrytuft jumped in. "Fadedsong was sent to her. The girl really knows how to heal. Winter or not. In fact, I'm sure she's the reason Lambstar's here today! But if you don't believe us or don't want to join, tell us now so we can stop wasting our time. It'll only be your loss, afterall." The deputy said, staying in his place, pressuring the once intimidating dark brown tom to state his answer on whether he'd like to join or not.

The sun was setting as Mousestar stretched, woken from her slumber by the chill as night set in. She had moved camp earlier the previous morning, as the sheep had started to be brought down into the lambing shed. It had been easy with only her, but she was optimistic that it would still be simple with a full clan.
The sky was clear and the early members of starclan had no clouds to stop them from seeing Mousestar as she made her way across the territory. She stepped lightly as she made her way to share tounges with StarClan and ask them to help her fledgling clan. She had heard stories of Starclan bestowing worthy clans with cats, and she hoped she would be able to welcome a friend - maybe even one who could be the medicine cat!
As Mousestar walked, she kept her senses alert for prey, hoping to catch something to welcome her new Starclan-appointed Clanmate.

Rabbitnose's worries had subsided and she was proud of herself. Through the snow and all, she still managed to find raspberry leaves. Now she was in the nursery and was finally treating Appleblaze. She was already starting to look better. The nursery was also starting to look a bit full as another queen had now joined them. Her name was Rainpuddle and she already made quite the introduction by tripping over right in front of Birdstar.

"Well, looks like everything is alright in here. Appleblaze, you're all fine and your kits look healthy too," Rabbitnose said. Appleblaze gave a smile.
"Birdstar did a good job caring for them as well."
Rabbitnose gave a nod in response. "And Rainpuddle, if you ever need anything you know where to find me," she told her.
"Ah, thank you," she grinned.
"Well, I'll be leaving now. Oh, and watch out as apparently the melting snow has caused flooding. But we should be fine," she smiled. Then she padded out of the den and went to do other stuff. Appleblaze turned towards Rainpuddle.
"It's so nice of you to join me. It gets a little lonely in here so I'm glad to have some company," she said.
"Ah, no worries! I hope we can get to know each other. Oh, and may I add that you have some adorable kits," Rainpuddle replied.
"Thanks! I'm quite proud of them and I'm looking forward to watch them become warriors." She paused to lick their heads. "Although that is still pretty new to me."
"Mmhm, yes same here. Though I think it will be easy to adjust too. Everyone is so kind!" she squeaked. Appleblaze laughed.
"That is true. Good luck with your kits as well!"
"Thank you! I hope they are just as cute as yours," she replied and they both laughed. For the rest of the day, the two queens talked and talked, telling stories about one another.

"Congrats, Blossompaw! From now on, you will be known as Blossomberry. And er, Dustpaw... Better luck next time," Birdstar's words from the ceremony echoed in Dustpaw's head. He couldn't believe it. After all this time, he failed his warriors assessment! Whitecoal told him to not get too worked up about it as the weather was out of his control. But still, he couldn't help but blame himself. Greypatch, his rival of sorts, had already made him aware of how he felt about it. He laughed in his face and was now spending his time with Blossomberry. Blossomberry on the other hand had told Dustpaw good luck for his next try.

Dustpaw stood with Whitecoal as they waited for Birdstar.
"I talked with her this morning so I'm sure it will all work out," he had told him. Dustpaw nodded in response then stared at his paws. Birdstar then padded up to them and said her good mornings. Her and Whitecoal chatted for a bit before she turned her attention to Dustpaw.
"Anyway, so you failed your warriors assessment but that's okay! We have a trial system which is something I just introduced right now," she smiled.
"Ideally, you wouldn't need that..." he grumbled.
"Don't be like that! It wasn't your fault. The weather was all crazy and everything. But you can try again, right now. Just be wary of the mud and flooding and all..." she said.
"I believe in Dustpaw. I'm sure he will be okay this time. Second time's the charm, eh?" Whitecoal said, giving him a nudge with his paw. Dustpaw rose to his paws.
"Okay then. I'll try again. Be right back!" he shouted and ran off. This time he will pass it no matter what!

When he was out of sight, Birdstar turned to Whitecoal. "Er, maybe you should keep on eye on him this time..." she whispered.
"Uh, right of course," he said and stood up.
"Think of it as a secret mission. A secret between you and me..."

Bramblestep crawled out his den and stretched in the sunlight. All sorts of things happened lately and now it was finally new leaf. He no longer had to train Blossomberry and he was catching up on his sleep. He stared out at camp as cats were already out and about. He just noticed Dustpaw running off, probably to redo his warriors assessment. Bramblestep made his way down to the camp floor and started to say good morning to everyone. Then he sunned himself in the sun.

To his right, he heard the shuffling of paws. He looked up to see Dapplecloud.
"Morning, Dapplecloud. Did you sleep well?" he asked her.
"Uh, yes I did. Very well actually," she replied.
"That's good to hear then!" he smiled. Suddenly, she looked at her paws.
"Um, I just wanted to congratulate you on Blossomberry's successful assessment," she quietly said.
"Thanks! Though I would have to say it was all her doing."
"Well, yes but you said the same to me about Greypatch..." she said and shuffled her paws.
"Did I? Well, maybe I did. Anyway, would you like to join me?" he offered. For a moment she looked conflicted as to what to say. But then she smiled and nodded.
"That would be great." She sat down beside him and the two sat in silence, appreciating all the sunshine. Bramblestep then truly felt they had gone back the way they used to be. Friends.

On the other side of camp, Emberstorm was also sunning herself. She had made a friend in Bumblestream so she also joined her. She was eyeing everyone in camp, looking at them from the tips of the ears to their tails. Then she turned to Bumblestream.
"Hey, what do you think is important for a clan?" she asked. Bumblestream jumped and blinked herself awake.
"Er, um... Being kind to each other I guess... Oh, and putting others first before you," she said then yawned.
"Then what makes a clan strong?"
"Um..." she stopped to think. "I'm not really sure. Training hard I guess. But as I said before, a bond between us all is good too."
"Hmm... That's true," Emberstorm replied and looked to the sky.
"Why do you ask?" Bumblestream questioned.
"Oh, no reason. I was just wondering," she said with a mischievous smile. Bumblestream nodded then went back to her nap. In reality, Emberstorm was thinking about where this clan was headed. As Willowstar made her way toward the Moonpool, she reflected once more on how pleasant it was to have food in her belly. She sank down next to the sacred water and made her request of her ancestors. "StarClan, I appreciate all that you have done for me in founding JadeClan; you have sent a worthy deputy and medicine cat already, and now I humbly request you send a warrior to bolster our ranks.".

While Willowstar was away, Hawkeye and Dovetail met in the center of the camp. "I know it's not part of your duties as medicine cat," Hawkeye began, "but I would appreciate having someone to back me up while I go hunting today." Dovetail considered this for a few moments in silence. Hopefully this is the only time you have to join; StarClan willing, Willowstar should return with a new warrior." Dovetail nodded in agreement shortly after this statement. "I don't mind to come along with you, Hawkeye. I hope you won't mind if I'm not the best, I did choose to specialize in herbs for a reason." She winked at the deputy, and the two of them chuckled together as they set out.

“Let’s make our own clan!” Yowled Emberkit. His bright blue eyes shining vivaciously.

“Sounds like a good idea,” Said Whisperkit, “But who’s going to be leader?”

“Me, of course!” Said Piranhakit, daring anyone who disagreed to try and challenge her. She always had her claws ready to prick the cat who decided to say she was wrong.

Emberkit bared his teeth, not liking the vicious female, “NO! I AM!”

“Shut up!” Whisperkit said! “I’ll be leader because you two won’t agree!”

Piranhakit shook her head but let Whisperkit take the lead. That was one female that she respected and wouldn’t go against. Whisperkit trudged on, “I’ll take Quartzkit as my deputy.”

Quartzkit looked up from his spot on the ground, “Ok. Fine with me, I guess.”

Whisperkit looked around, “Who wants to be the medicine cat?

Orchidkit stepped up, even though she never wanted to be a medicine cat apprentice, she always got stuck with this role. She wanted to be a warrior, be strong like her mother, and fight with her clan against everything bad in the world. “I’ll be… again.”
