Carolina Shepherds Pound
Welcome to the Carolina Shepherds Pound!
You can take a look at our available dogs or drop off a dog that hasn't been fitting in with your kennel.
We want you to have as much information as possible about these dogs to make sure they’re a good fit for your home or kennel, so we make sure to health test each dog prior to putting them up for adoption. Each dog is well-cared for in a foster home or on our large property adjacent to the Smoky Mountains National Park.
Adopting a dog:
Dogs are free to adopt. You do not need to have a Carolina Shepherd to adopt from the pound - this is a great way to get your first one!
You may enter for up to three dogs from the pound a week, however you may only take home one dog a week.
Please prioritize your entries with 1st choice, 2nd choice, and/or 3rd choice so if you win multiple dogs from the pound, we can make sure you can take home the one you want the most.
You may edit your forms to add art and/or writing to your entry to improve your chances at adopting a popular dog with multiple entries. Commissioned art and colored in lines someone else has made count as an art entry.
You may not adopt a dog you have dropped off at the pound.
Do not shame someone for dropping off dogs - it's easy to get a lot of Carolina Shepherds and this way they can be given to other members of the community!
Pound dogs will head to their new homes every Saturday.
Please wait until after the Saturday post has been posted before you submit your entries for the next week.
Dogs with multiple entries will be adopted to a random applicant unless someone has submitted art or writing of the dog - the dog will be adopted to the person who drew or wrote about the dog. If multiple people have drawn or written about a dog then the dog will be awarded to one of them based on staff judgment of the art/writing.

Form Explanation:
Username: Your username
Name and ID# of Dog: The name and ID# of the dog you want to adopt
New Name (optional): If you want to rename the dog, write their new name here
Choice Rank (ie 1st, 2nd, 3rd): If you have more than one entry this week, please choose which dog you want the most (1st), which dog you want the second most (2nd), and which dog you want the least (3rd). If you win more than one dog we will use these ranks to give you the highest ranked dog you want, and have the other dogs go to other adopters.
Art and/or writing (optional): This is an option to boost your entry's chances of winning a popular pound dog. If there are multiple entries for a dog you can edit your form to include art or writing about the dog you are trying to adopt. Art may be commissioned, colored in lines someone else made, and/or something you drew on your own! Writing may be commissioned or something you write yourself.

Dropping off a dog:
There is no fee to drop off a dog at the pound.
There are no limits to the number of dogs you drop off at the pound.
Once dropped off you may not re-adopt that dog. You have no say over what the new owner does with their dog once adopted.
Dogs without a name and gender will have a name and gender chosen at random.
If your brand new (not yet designed) lost dog does not fit in well with your kennel, you may drop it off at the pound to go to a pet home. They will not be designed, but you will get 25 SAR points for getting them off the mountain and into a good home. You have 3 days from winning your lost dog to drop them off at the pound, after that they will be designed and you will not get any SAR points for dropping them off at the pound.
