Peri didn't believe in ghosts at first. He had never experienced anything like creepy shadows or monsters under the bed. It just didn't seem real to him. Then one day, his friends Miami and Tampa came to school with an incredible story. They had visited a supposedly haunted forest and been attacked by a ghost. It had even stolen their camera! Peri decided that he had to check this out. At the very least, he could try and get their camera back.
The forest was dark, and the trees loomed over him as though watching his every move. But Peri wasn't afraid. After all, he was certain that ghosts weren't real. Eventually he made it to the clearing that the two Kalon brothers had been talking about. The wind suddenly picked up, and Peri's coat flapped against his small frame. He shuddered, narrowing his eyes and perking his ears as he looked around. He could hear... something. Was it some kind of voice?
"...get out..."
It was a voice.
"...get out!"
And it was getting angrier.
"Get out get out get out get OUT!"
The voice was all around him all at once. Peri was terrified. Forgetting all about the camera he had come for, he turned tail and fled. The only thing he could think about was getting as far away from the forest as he could. He only stopped running once the trees of the forest looked like tiny bushes behind him.
From that day on, Peri didn't doubt any ghost stories he heard.
