↬ prompt: the cat most likely to get sick is probably mollybrook - he has really bad luck and it seems like something that would happen to him. not wanting to have him miss out on the festivities the rest of the clan would do their best to try and make him feel better, all while preventing other cats from also getting sick and being bound to the healer's den like he was. if it came down to it, a group of his closest friends would probably risk getting sick just to spend time with him and make sure he doesn't feel left out.

coughs racked his shivering frame.

“shhhh.” snared in the shadows, she drew close, tugging the woven blanket of soft furs over him. her head rested on his shoulder, carefully navigating past the constellations of scars cross-hatching his frame. “it’ll be okay.”

weary eyes met hers, the copper shine dulled.
but gently, his head shifted against hers, a slight bob against her chin.

“that’s the spirit.” the whisper wavered on her lips, but she steadied it. at least… as best as she could.

and she held him. she held him tight, knotting paws into his dark, damp curls, like it was the only thing tethering him to this world. because if she relented, he’d downspiral to the stars, caught in their cosmic orbit. lost in their siren’s song.

she swallowed, lifting a sodden moss to him. “rest, arezo. it’s not time, yet.”

Squashstep curled in on herself, tail flicking as her mother messed around with herbs in the corner. She wasn't very close (read: still isn't close at all) close with her mother growing up, and it was definitely creating some awkward tension between the two as the younger molly sniffled and sneezed, thinking about how she'd much rather be with her mate and friends. But as Ciderstep dropped the medicine in front of her, she also did something unexpected- she gave her a lick on the head and nuzzled her gently.

...maybe they could talk it out.
