After Stormi and Slither's little accident, the two found themselves in the company of Admiral and Azure. Once the two had made sure that neither of them were gravely injured, they were patched up and sent on their merry way - back to Razz's little shack in the Land of Nod. They returned later than usual, immediately being greeted by a very worried Skittles the second they went through the front door.
Slither felt terrible. He was ashamed he's been unable to protect Stormi, despite how many times it reassured him that it was fine. He lowered his head to Skittles, fins drooping. "I'm deeply sorry, sir - I should've been more careful. I never wanted any harm to come to Stormi." He spoke quietly, avoiding all eye contact with the pegasus.
"Sheesh, kid - I'm so glad the both of ya are okay!" Skittles brought them both in for a hug, his wings enveloping them both. Stormi began laughing, commenting on how ticklish his feathers were.
Skittles' response surprised Slither. He thought for sure that he'd be upset with him, due to his inability to keep Stormi safe. After a bit of hesitance, he accepted the hug, resting his head against Skittles' shoulder.
"Both o' ya are lucky Admiral 'n Azure found you. You have got t'be more careful. Ya know what- that's it. I'm comin' with ya."
Just as the last sentence left his mouth, Razz stepped into the room, their eyes widening. "Absolutely not, Skittles! You're still hurt from the last two times you got attacked. You need to rest."
He shook his head, pulling away from both Stormi and Slither. "Ain't no way. I'm goin' to make sure they're safe."
What a stubborn bird. Razz let out a huff and stomped their hoof, tiny wings spread. "Fine. But if you all come back hurt, I'm forcing you all to be home-bound."
And that was that. The four of them settled down for the night, only after Skittles thoroughly checked both Stormi and Slither's injuries. Stormi, of course, was excited for the next day - nothing could turn them away from an adventure. But Slither stayed up, gazing out the window as his thoughts ran wild. He glanced at Skittles, who was completely zonked already, hat askew on the top of his head. He quickly looked away again, his skin - or scales? - beginning to feel hot. It would be better if he just slept for now.
