Guilla looks out onto the Wastelands, combing the dusty hills for any signs of movement. They're lost in a memory...

“What--? What are you doing?!” The Fetch kicks his hindpaws and spits. “You’re lee-əə-eetting it get away! You’re ruining everything!”

Guilla blinks. The Fetch is right—the other werm is missing. They scan the horizon and find a little white streak, there. It disappears into the howling winds of the wasteland.

“You idiot! Let me go! You promised! I did my part, you said you’d help me--!”

“I changed my mind.” The merchant opens his hand, unceremoniously dropping the other werm on the dirt. “And now you’ve blown our ‘ole operation. How do you like that?”

The Fetch just sits there and looks up at him like an outraged mockingbird. He doesn’t know what to say to that.

Guilla stands stunned, even more confused than before. They didn't think that was possible. The streak of light disappears into the sand and takes with it the ruckus. The Fetch & their charge seem to be simmering in irritation, glowering up at the hefty werm who stopped them.

They fidget their paws, reaching to fiddle with the tooth necklace hanging over their chest. Suddenly, they missed their friends very badly. Guilla realized just how alone they were in the sweeping wastelands, and gently began to shuffle out from under the merchant's grip. Their rattling leaves and timid side-steps seemed to rouse the other trio from their glare duel--two heads turned towards Guilla in an instant.

"Um. Nice meeting you?"
