Pelipa stood beside her sister as the little group of cubs watched their new 'friend'. It appeared that Chepi's question of more clarity went right over this thing's head and, instead, it seemed to just continue on as if all it had said was completely and utterly understood. Which... it really wasn't. The whole group still looked confused from the earlier communications, and all they could really do was try to compute what it had said while it also seemed to wander ahead, looking under rocks and... eating them? That was weird. Pelipa was about to inform their new 'friend' that rocks weren't really for eating but she stopped herself. It appeared the thing enjoyed them, so she thought it best to leave it be.
As it spoke of finding these Uuk'oks again, Pelipa only continued to frown, along with the rest of the group, it seemed. However, once it seemed to begin hacking, only to hack up a glowing green and red ball, the cubs immediately squealed in disgust and hid their faces. Even Chayton was a bit grossed out by it, but Pelipa could hear the deep chuckle that came from their elder at the sound of the group's disgust and fright.
Pelipa peaked out from her paws to see the creature move the ball, only to see that the red remained almost stationary, pointing in the same direction despite movement, and it caused her to blink in surprise.
"Is that how we find the Uuk'oks?" She begged shyly, soon watching as the creature just spoke of it's home... and, apparently, what had happened to it's home.
The sound of it was quite sad, and Pelipa could sense the atmosphere change as it spoke so few words of what happened. The group easily understood, although it was hard to picture something eating a home... but nevertheless, it caused Pelipa and Chepi, along with Molimo and Haiwee, to wander over to their new friend and settle a bit closer to it, showing that they wanted to help in some way. Zitkala, on the other paw, remained behind, standing next to Chayton who just watched them as he had done thus far.
It was only now that Pelipa realized how small the creature was. Sure, it was mimicking a cub, but it was even smaller than Haiwee. It was... it was probably the size of a newborn cub, and yet had the features of, either, and adolescent or adult, looking back at it. Of course, such features were hard to distinguish with how it appeared to look at the current moment. That face still gave Pelipa the jitters.
The group remained in silence for some time before the creature apparently spoke of it's 'hide friend' and ultimately looked to Haiwee, who seemed to blink in confusion before finally understanding.
"Oh! Uh... What do you mean, how?" The little cub begged, only to watch with wide eyes as the creature's pelt began to shift into varying colors, changing quickly and yet allowing Haiwee to pick whichever she wanted.
The whole group ooed and awed about the entire spectacle. Even Chayton and Zitkala were impressed and they just watched as colors and pelt markings and designs went flashing before their eyes.
Haiwee watched for quite some time before perking upon something she liked in particular. "There! That one!" She'd squeak happily, watching with astonishment as the little creature stopped in it's changing of colors, the pelt it had picked something reminiscent to a mix of the entire group's pelts.
It had Chayton's gray face and Zitkala's unique markings, with Molimo's spots and Chepi and Pelipa's odd streak markings. Last but not least, it had Haiwee's eyes.
The group could only look upon the creature's appearance for some time longer before they all agreed it was quite nice, and it definitely blended in. It was small enough to be a cub, and yet looked nothing like a single one of them. It could just pass as a cub within the rest of the cub group. This was perfect!
But then the group recollected the strange creature they were looking for; the Uuk'oks. Pelipa could only frown as she thought more and more of it. What were these creatures, and what did they look like? Were they like their little friend, here? Or something entirely different? And how would they be able to find them if they didn't know what they looked like?
There were so many questions going through that little head of hers, and she was fairly certain that the rest of the group had just as many, if not more, questions than she did, herself. And yet no one asked... because, unfortunate as it was, chances were likely that they weren't going to get a discernible answer. And even if they did get such an answer, they weren't really guaranteed an answer that would make all that much sense.
Pelipa, then, looked to her superior, frowning slightly.
"What are we going to do about the Uuk'oks? Are they going to eat our home, too?" She begged sadly.
That question caused all of the cubs to fall silent, if they weren't already, wide-eyed as they looked to the makisa. Fear danced in each and every one of their eyes, for fear of loosing their homes, their friends.... their families. They didn't want to lose them, and such a statement was obvious with just the look in their eyes.
Chayton frowned upon seeing all of them so disheartened, and soon he breathed out a sigh. "They won't eat our home... we'll have to stop the Uuk'oks." He'd murmur. "Somehow..."
"We got the glowing ball thing," Chepi commented, soon opting to point a paw at it.
"And we have our new friend to help, too!" Molimo added with a small, tired grin.
It caused Chayton to huff a little, soon glancing to the creature-cub before looking to the glowing ball, then back to the cubs.
"Alright... Then let's go find those Uuk'oks."
"Yay!" Exclaimed Haiwee, "We're going to save the world!" (1,007 wc)
