⫷ American Azteca Information Guide ⫸

═══════════════════════════════════

Derived from the Azteca of modern Mexico, this breed is hardy and sure footed but agile and quick-minded when at work.
They are colored more vibrantly than their founders after being crossed with Quarter Horses, Appaloosa and Paint types.
Though they tend to be hot headed when left to themselves, these horses are very willing once training begins and are known for
their athleticism in and out of the show ring. They excel in the Western division, with most being used for ranch work on an
everyday basis, but others have proven their worth in the Dressage and Polo fields.

⫷ Breed Information ⫸

Postby HowlingHooves » Thu Jan 02, 2020 3:45 pm

Image
═══════════════════════════════════

One characteristic of the breed is the ever present Dorsal Stripe. While Dun types are very common within the breed, nearly all American Aztecas carry a dorsal stripe regardless of leg barring or other dun factors. It is thought that any American Azteca that lacks a dorsal stripe will bring bad luck, and so those that do not sport one are often sold at market for much less than those that show. It does not, however, indicate any less ability when showing.
95% of Aztecas express a dorsal stripe, but breeding two with the stripe does not guarantee offspring to carry.

Another characteristic of the American Azteca is the Netting gene; these horses are surprisingly resistant to fungal infections related to rain rot, as the marking was once thought to be lacing until tested. The marking presents itself much like the Sooty gene, but the color is a light brown to off-white shade; dapples are most commonly associated with this marking type just as with Sooty, and it has been noted as Nt on the genetic scale. Both heterozygous and homozygous dominance is found, with the degree of effect the same as with most other genes.

An odd development of the breed is the lack of Appaloosa and Paint cross colors. There is no known reason found, as of yet, as to why a Paint carrier and an Appaloosa carrier do not produce a Pintaloosa. Any offspring born of both types only shows one or the other marking; offspring that have been tested have shown they can carry both genetic markers, but the mystery as to why they do not show both is still being investigated. As such, Cat Track types are highly sought after by color breeders.
Distsal Spots and Cat Tracks are always seen in Pintaloosa types; one or both can be present, regardless of which gene presents on the offspring. Carriers also express opposing type identifiers, such as a Tobiano with stripped hooves or mottled skin, or heterochromic eyes with an Appaloosa. Heterochromia is only found in those with paint genes!

    Identifying a Pintaloosa carrier;
Cat Tracks and/or Distal Spots present with opposing marking.
Heterochromic eyes present with Appaloosa types.
Striped hooves and/or mottled skin present with Paint types.

⫷ Stats ⫸

Postby HowlingHooves » Thu Jan 02, 2020 3:45 pm

Image
══════════

Each horse has five individual stats that determine their showing capability, which will always be displayed on
the adopt page; it is recommended that stats be placed on their stable page by the owner as well.
Founders will never have stats higher than a 3, but their specialty boosts will always be the two highest.
Adopts will always have a number between 1 and 4. The number should always be randomized before posted.
A horse with stats nearer to 6 will do better in competitions, whereas a horse with stats nearer to 1 will do more poorly.
Occasionally a random event will make a horse’s performance better or worse, regardless of the present stats.
All stats are randomly generated between 1 and 6.

    Traits:
    Strength
Determines the power the horse has.
    Stamina
Determines how long the horse can work.
    Speed
Determines how fast and agile the horse is.
    Intelligence
Determines how quick the horse is able to learn.
    Trainability
Determines how well the horse is able to learn.

All founders begin with a Trainability of 1, but a usable item may be used to randomly increase this stat.
Horses with a 3 or higher have a chance to be able to be trained in two specialties, with the chances
rising for each number; horses with a 6 have a 75% chance to specialize twice.
Offspring of two founders will always have a 2.

All stat numbers will take a randomized number between the sire and dam.
This number will always include one higher than the largest number.
ex. Trainability of 2 and 3 will include 2, 3 and 4 to roll.
    Stamina of 2 and 5 will include 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Image
═════════════════

In-hand show winners, first through third place, are awarded via a RNG entry list.
All In-hand shows will cost less to enter than regular shows, regardless of show level.
In-Hand shows can be entered alongside other shows, but a horse may only enter one specialty per run week.
Those entered into multiple will be ignored when show results are posted, regardless of whether they are specialized in two disciplines.

Prices per level;
In-Hand
Local - 25 credits
Regional - 50 credits
National - 100 credits
International - 150 credits
Championship - 250 credits

Specialties
Local - 50 credits
Regional - 125 credits
National - 200 credits
International - 350 credits
Championship - 500 credits

Shows will run on a Sunday to Saturday schedule.
Rolls will, ideally, be done Saturday night and posted before rollover by a member of staff.
Not all shows will be available to enter at all times, some will cycle out one week and return the next.

Horses are not required to enter for their chosen discipline!
However, if they are entered in a show that is not their specialty, will receive a negative random encounter.
Such random encounters may result in minor to moderate injury, possibly requiring medical care, or forced retirement.

Image
═════════════════════════════════════════

When a horse encounters a forced retirement event, the horse has been shown in a discipline that was not it's chosen specialty and has encountered a career-ending injury. No details are ever given, but you will receive both a message on the results page as well as a message in your inbox.
All horses who are forcibly retired receive a compensation of 2,500 SS for veterinary care done by competition staff.

Results notice:
Something went wrong when (horses name) was competing! A veterinarian has been called.
An update will be sent regarding (horses name) soon.

PM notice:
(username),
Unfortunately (horses name) sustained very serious injury while competing.
They were not suited for the work, it seems. Further competing may result in more grievous injury
and so it is best this horse is fully retired before anything else can befall them.

I'm sorry for your loss, but (horses name) has been barred from competitions henceforth.
You have been compensated 2,500 for all veterinary care.

Regards,
Dr. Show-vet

Forced retirement has a 2% chance of occurring with every non-specialty entered horse!
All random encounters are fixed to a specific set of numbers on a 1-100 scale.
Forced retirement will always be located on numbers 99-100 for the above situation. This will never change.

⫷ Breeding ⫸

Postby HowlingHooves » Thu Jan 02, 2020 3:47 pm

═════════════════════

All horses have a monthly limit when breeding, but overall there are no slots for active horses that need to be kept track of.
When breeding, it is a wise choice to keep a list of offspring under the parent's information in your stable, so you may trace
back lineages, keep track of stat improvements, and have a helpful way to look back in case of the monthly limitations.
All breedings will have a cost per the member ordering the breeding; if using a stallion or mare that is not their own, they may
also pay a fee to the owner of the other horse(s) in compensation for services rendered.

All breedings will cost 500 SS.
Only Mare x Stallion breeding are permitted for active horses.
This will only change upon retirement, when same sex breedings are permitted.

Occasional weekends (Friday-Sunday) will offer Free Breeding Weekends!
These will be at random, and may or may not occur in one months time.
There will never be information given out regarding Free Breeding Weekends, they will simply be announced upon opening.

Stallions may breed 5 times per month.
Mares mare breed 3 times per month.
Geldings and Sterile Mares may not breed.

Twins have a 4% rate of occurrence in each breeding.
Chimerics have a 1 in 6 chance of occurring in each Twin breeding.
Chimeric Aztecas may not be seen outside of breedings, or an approved artists' birthday custom!
If requested with an import, your order will be sent back asking for corrections and a reminder sent with it.

When a horse has retired, slots do come into play.
This is in place so no one has the upper-hand in breeding, regardless of whether they wish to play the RPG aspects or not.
Even if you do not choose to play the RPG, breedings will cost SS.

Retired Stallions have 4 final slots.
Retired Mares have 2 final slots.

If retired horses are used without open slots, the resulting horse will be placed up for adoption, auction or flat sale.
They will be treated as a founder horse, with a trainability at 1 and no lineage mentioned.
It is your job as the owner to be sure of all remaining slots after retirement!
Please be aware that users who continually abuse this slot usage will be placed on a breeding probationary period.

Overo horses are an oddity in the breeding world.
It is advised that two Overo horses not be bred, due to the chance for Lethal White Syndrome.
Here you may breed two Overo horses together, however there will be a 25% chance that any offspring will be LWS.
This will result in the death of the foal, but a message from the vet.
Dear user,
Unfortunately your breeding resulted in LWS for the foal.
To help ease the passing, we are offering a discounted breeding fee.

The same pair must be used to receive the discounted fee!
Please note you will still be utilizing the same breeding, you will not be using a second, in the case that one or both horses are not your own. You will not need to request a second permission quote from another user in the event of Active and Retired horses.

If you are using Eggs and Straws, this does use up your inventory!
You may not request a second breeding done with the same egg and straw, as it will no longer be in your inventory.

Image
══════════════════════════

All horses are able to go through a process of sterilization.
This process will cost 500 credits per horse, regardless of gender.

Stallions become Geldings.
Mares become Sterile Mares.

These horses will gain a slight advantage in competitions.
A boost of +3 points will apply to all Geldings and Sterile Mares.

For an added fee, all horses may be harvested for Straws or Eggs at the time of sterilization.
You may request 1, 2, or 3 Straws/Eggs, which will be listed under your item bank.
These may be used at any time, with any horse that is not the one that was sterilized.
They may not, however, be used with the same type of material; Eggs must be used with Straws or Stallions!

Prices:
1 Straw or Egg - 200 SS
2 Straws or Eggs - 400 SS
3 Straws or Eggs - 500 SS

⫷ Retirement & Beyond ⫸

Postby HowlingHooves » Thu Jan 02, 2020 3:47 pm

════════════════════════

Retirement in American Aztecas can come at any point, and is entirely up to the owner of the Azteca.
If you do not wish to participate in the RPG portion of the adopt, retiring your horses is your best bet at adopting more horses.

Stallions who have been retired are limited to four breeding slots until they can no longer be bred.
Mares who have been retired are limited to two breeding slots until they can no longer be bred.
This limitation only counts after the horse has been requested to be retired on the Retirement page.
Any offspring created before retirement do not count toward the final slots.

There are no bonuses received for retiring any horse early.
Retired horses cannot be altered in any manner once they have been retired.
But, once it has been noted on their page by a staff member, these horses no longer count toward your stall usage.
They must still be listed under your stable page, but essentially they become ornaments or mascots, and you may adopt,
breed or purchase another Azteca to place in the stall they previously held.

There will be, in the future, events where retired horses can be used to obtain items and Silver Spurs
such as jobs, games and retiree-shows specifically geared toward those who would rather not play competitively.

⫷ American Azteca Events ⫸

Postby HowlingHooves » Sat Jan 18, 2020 5:14 am

Image
════════════════

Every so often, American Aztecas will host events.
These events will include specific themes, and will usually have one singular competition type such as raffles.
A minimum of two Aztecas will be auctioned off as the final leg of each event. These auctions may be in Silver Spurs or c$ that will be put toward furthering the adopt. (a log of c$ for the adopt is in the works!)
These events may be small or large, and will last anywhere between two days, to an entire month of fun.

Only registered community members may participate in events!
This means you must have posted under the Registry board with your stable and bank.
You are not required to have a founder, nor are you required to participate fully in any events.

With smaller events, the competition type will usually be restricted to raffles.
Only one Azteca may be won via raffle by an individual in these instances.
Auctions may be won by anyone, regardless of raffle winners, but they may not both be won by the same person in the same event.
In small events there will be Bonus Competition content, where those interested may participate in art and/or writing form to compete for various prizes.
First, second and third place winners will receive a reward; judging will be done by non-competing staff, or by an outside source if all staff are competing or otherwise unable to judge.
Judging will be done as part of the final leg of the event, alongside the minimum of two auctions that are posted.

Included in the prize bundles will be a Semi-Custom Import Voucher.
First place will always receive a Rare type, second place an Uncommon type, and third place a Common type.

Semi-Customs will only ever be available as Bonus Content prizes!
These cannot be purchased, from the shop or another user.
Once it has been awarded, the item cannot be traded, sold or given away to another user until the horse is created.

All Semi-Custom vouchers have strict guidelines for use.
You may only choose the following for such items;;
♦ Eye Color
♦ Gender
♦ Primary Base Coat of either Black [Ee aa] or Chestnut [ee aa]

One gene within the same tier may be asked to be rolled for twice for a positive chance.
Agouti can be requested to be rolled twice with any Semi-Custom voucher.
One gene may be asked to be removed from your genome entirely.
This will be asked for if streaming, or requested upon posting the finished roll.

Common - Grey, Dun, Cream, Silver (black only)
Uncommon - Double Cream, Flaxen, Pangare (chestnut only)
Rare - Champagne, Pearl, Mushroom

Common types cannot ask for a Rare tier modifier to be rolled for, and vice versa!
You may only request one within your tier type.
However, with Uncommon and Rare vouchers the possibility for a gene bomb is present.
All genes available are rolled at a dominance ratio of Heterozugous/Homozygous/Not Present.
Random.org will be used to determine all genomes.
With the double chance, it will alter to a Yes/Yes/No formula, followed by a Heterozygous/Homozygous roll.

I, HowlingHooves, will roll all Semi-Custom vouchers and post the results on the customs page.
You may, however, ask another artist to create your voucher.
Please be aware that they have the right to decline.
These rolls will be made via public streaming or in the presence of at least one other staff member.
You may choose to hold onto your voucher for any length of time, but no other staff member is permitted to roll.
Once your results have been rolled, you cannot have the voucher rolled a second time; the genes posted are final.

═══════════════════════

A list of events, both past and future planning, will be listed here as time permits.
All current or past events will be linked.

Have an idea for an event theme?
Send HowlingHooves a pm on CS, or a DM on discord!
You may also post on the server, or the main page. ♥
Please note, at this time we will not be doing crossovers with other adopts.
Harsh environment rescues, or emergency veterinary care instances are not acceptable due to the nature of the theme and trying to keep in line with CS regulations; this is a site where younger minds can see and read, keep this in mind.
