[With a quick word to the salesgoon, they take out a handful of the boosters they had briefly mentioned when you were first browsing. The goon explains that each bottle is guaranteed to increase your ability to perform in the chosen area, and they absolutely do work, don't listen to what her competitors say. Just because they don't pick up strange bottles of liquid in the wilds doesn't mean the boosters aren't safe. At the moment, she has three types in stock. The first will make the user more resilient, able to withstand more damage and put forward more effort before becoming exhausted; she calls this an endurance booster. The next improves the ability to think, giving them an advantage in situations where they need to know more information and the wisdom to make better choices. This she calls a mind booster. The last, the salesgoon assures you, is just as important even though it might not seem like it in the wilds. She swears by it, insisting that it is better than any beauty product and will make subtle changes to your presence from your speech patterns to the ratio and distribution of fat and muscle on your body. She has no idea how it works, she admits, but in her experience it makes all kinds of social situations easier and makes the user stand out more. She calls it the charm booster.

There are plenty of options, but the goon grins devilishly and holds up a clawed digit. "But wait, there's more!" Into the bargain, since you are a first time customer, she offers a promotional product. "These boosters are long-term investments. They add up and don't fade with time. Unfortunately, they're not very strong. Today, though, I happen to have one very special kind of booster. It'll only work for one day, but it is potent enough to immediately notice the effects! It'll give you a taste of what you're paying for next time, and I'll give it to you as a sort of free sample. I won't even tell you what it does, so you'll know how powerful it is once you try it by how obvious the effects are! What do you say?"]

[Against the suggestion of reason with a wild beast charging in your direction, you decide this must be the eagerness of a new friend, perhaps planning to greet you with a tackling hug. When the heavy weight of a chubby furry bird lands upon you, it occurs to you that you are woefully unprepared for such a hug. There is an unexpected delight to being buried in soft downy feathers, though. After some shuffling and nudging, you are relieved to catch a breath of air and find yourself staring down a large, sharp beak, into adorably wide eyes. The bird-beast chirps at you.]

[After your first adventure, it was nice to have the offer of help and a friendly ear, so as the other two wander off with their goods, the remaining goon stays behind and the two of you get to chatting. You get to hear about life as a goon and in turn share some of your insights from back home, and by time you're done you've collected not only as much fruit as you can carry, but a new companion for future travels.]

Choose one: [Dandelion Fields]

[The wilds are dangerous, so it's best not to wander when there are clear paths to the areas of interest to most goons. The dandelion fields are a wonderful place to go to relax and find useful plants for medicines and other concoctions, but sometimes you can find other surprises, too. Sadly, as the warmest season winds down the flowers here are beginning to wilt, and the bright yellows above no longer leave a pleasant glow all along the ground. Instead, the soft shadows left by the remaining puffs waiver in the wind as the last few seeds that are able make their escape.

You may not be a healer, but you can tell none of these plants are right for harvesting now. You hear the trickle of water in the distance, a reassuring sound in the summer but not as much when the weather begins to turn. Nearer is the sound of buzzing insects, often useful creatures to keep an eye on.]

a strange being is walking about the town, obviously dazed and confused. they have slime-like skin, or rather, they were a slime, yet they looked like a human. they were wearing a jacket, jeans and boots, with the hood of their jacket over their head. they looked like they were new around here. they attempt to walk over to a select number of random goons, asking the same question, which was..

[You approach the first creature you find at the gate, and are surprised despite your question when it is able to answer you in a language you understand! “Oh? I’m a guard, so I need to stay here at the gate. I could probably find someone to give you a tour, though. Hang on, there’s a group just passing now. Hey there! You three! We have a guest that would like a look around. Is one of you free?”

The three the guard calls upon seem to have been in heated discussion, but after being summoned they set aside whatever the matter is to investigate. It seems they don't get many visitors. One of the more energetic goons nudges the one next to him as they get close and grins, saying something you can't quite hear to the others and laughing at their own joke. It seems lighthearted enough, since the other two titter along and roll their eyes. They are the first to speak as they close in and greet you. "Hey! We're free. What's going on? Is it a new human? There are a lot of them lately, huh? Is it your migration season or something?" More suppressed chuckles from the other two goons make the joking nature of the words clear, but you're not quite sure which part is meant to be funny. His golden pattern sort of reminds you of normal pets from back home, though, and the familiarity is a nice change of pace with all of these weird new creatures and surroundings.

The next goon scoffs at the first, rolling their eyes as if conspiring with the last. This goon is black and decked out in piercings, with a pattern like a vibrant purple coat and a tuft of soft green hair atop their head. What would have been unnatural in animals back home doesn't seem too rare in the ones you've seen around here, if this goon is anything to go by. "There haven't been that many. It's just that having anything new in any numbers around here seems like a rush."

The last goon is red with streaks of black and red, and seems to be a balance between the other two. They have an easy confidence like the first and a cool head like the second, but when they speak they reveal a sharp tongue hidden beneath the facade. "Who cares why, they're here and they need us or they wouldn't have called. What is it?"

The guard grunts an affirmative to the last, displeased with their manner but repeating his request. "This person is new here. You should help them look around if you can. Make them feel welcome."

"Oh! Why didn't you just say so?" The joker pipes up again, already pressing close as if to lead you away. "Come on, I know the best places. We can hang out in the guild hall and grab some free food!"

"Ugh, what is it with you and food. Get some culture. You can start in the artisan's guild if we're going anyway." The coated goon huffs, keeping a more modest distance and demeanor.

"Let them make their own choice, there are plenty of guilds at the hall to look into." The red goon bristles, as if it was them instead of you being steered by the others.

Luckily they all seem to want to go to the same place. Which would you like to go with?]
