Sunbeam Shadow and Sunbeam Light

Postby legolas the elf » Sat Jul 06, 2019 5:58 am

Sunbeam Shadow and Light:

Description:
sunbeam shadow and light causes circular markings around the eyes of the horse, a ring around the top of the hoof, and a dorsal stripe. sunbeam shadow makes these markings darker than the base color and sunbeam light makes these markings lighter than the base coloring. there is no difference between hetero and homo. no markings cover sunbeam shadow and light, though other markings may blend in to shadow and light.

Artistic Liberty Markings

Postby legolas the elf » Sat Jul 06, 2019 6:08 am

Artistic Liberty Markings:

Description:
artistic liberty markings are actually a gene, and can appear in different shapes on sunbeams. there is always three rings above the hoof, a dorsal stripe, and a marking under the eye. if the gene is homozygous, there is a fourth ring above the hoof, sometimes a second marking under the eye, and the dorsal stripe gets thicker. artistic liverty markings are covered by nothing save sunbeam shadow and light. they are called artistic liberty markings because they tend to look like an artist drew them onto the sunbeam.

Neapolitan Pintos:

Description:
the neapolitan gene only appears in sunbeams with tobiano or overo. for a neapolitan gene to appear, the horse must have tobiano, overo, or tovero markings. the neapolitan genes add paler tobiano/overo/tovero markings as well as darker tobiano/overo/tovero markings, make a three colored pinto pattern like the neapolitan ice cream.

Mooning

Postby legolas the elf » Sat Jul 06, 2019 6:22 am

Mooning:

Description:
mooning is a marking that causes what looks like brindle at first glance but with a few differences. mooning has a tendency to be thinner than brindle, the markings curve like crescent moves, and wherever mooning markings touch the mane and tail, the mane and tail turn the color of the markings. mooning can only be covered by pinto patterns, kits genes, artistic liberty, and light and shadow markings.

Gull Syndrome

Postby legolas the elf » Sat Jul 06, 2019 6:33 am

Zebra Syndrome:

Description:
while it's not a gene, zebra syndrome isn't quite a marking either. zebra syndrome causes the horse's mane and tail to turn entirely white, as well as it's body, save for zebra-like stripes on the body, which can be stripes revealing the horses real color or blacks stripes. some forms of zebra syndrome can simply turn the body white with clear stripes, stripes diluted black, and oure black stripes. wherever a stripe hits the mane, the mane regains it's original color. it...can get confusing. don't think about it too hard. the skin also turns grey.
