Do you have a concept for a legendary design already? yea!! She’s kind of like a Mother Nature type kiddo-probably goes by they/she. They have long, twisty antlers, laced with like Spanish moss, or perhaps baby’s breath- something elegant. The legendary edit would be some super elegant moth wings kinda like these, with a pair of feathered wings as well. They’d have long, draping hair. Basically uses powers to try to heal the earth, because the earth being sick = them being sick, and they’re slowly dying with it. She’s kinda grumpy, due to always being in immense pain, since people are killing her being, and pretty much hates most kalons, keeping to herself.
She was once worshipped, and cherished, before the populations forsook her, and began to trash the earth. Because of this, she often reminisces on ancient times, and can be quite antiquated at times.
She’d definitely have reverse munch (seven foot tall gal living it up in the forest), horns, six limbs, and four eyes, as well as a legendary wings edit. I’d probably give her a halo of some sort as well, though I haven’t quite thought through that yet.

Who will be making the myo? I’d definitely pay someone talented to make this design for me if I won because I’ve been wanting it so long. If I could catch hound when they’re open for comms I’d probably get them to do it for me cause I love the way they design c: Or perhaps I could get naumachy to do it, although they’re inactive on cs.

How do you usually develop your kalons? oh gosh, I just start writing, honestly. The words just flow out and just write it all down in their bio. I just get a character idea, and go with it, really! I also love doing lots of doodles to help me connect with the character c:

Tell me something about your favorite kalon: Maua is my absolute favorite kalon. She was the first kalon I won from like a non raffle competition, and I think that’s why I’m so attached to her, because I just poured so much development into her! I just love her character- sort of a sassy, snarky babe, with a huge soft spot underneath it all. I’ve doodled her so much throughout the years, and just grown to love her so much! Honestly, I think another part of it is because she’s a relatable character- I sometimes shut myself off from others, because I’m afraid of getting hurt. It’s for different reasons than Maua, who does it because she’s an assassin of course, but it’s the same feeling, ya know?

What is something you like about the community? I love how there are so many different people, with different talents and backgrounds, that all convene together in one place. Do you have a concept for a legendary design already? [ 200 words ]

i've always really wanted to have a sort of plant spirit kal! the elemental aspect of plant growth is what the design would mostly be based off of -- maple leaves and/or bamboo. i haven't quite decided what i want yet, but some colours i'd go with would be different shades of red and green. i'm gunning for more of a loose ancient chinese/oriental/xianxia themed design, so fur and hair would most likely be on the longer and flowy-er side of things, regardless of gender. i'll want to play with different hair styles and hair ornaments, ranging from ribbons to chopsticks to,, anything else that's there, i suppose! i feel like this song describes my idea pretty well.
i don't have a concrete role for the kalon yet, but they'd most likely be a protector of a mountain! they'd spend their days wandering around the mountainside, reinforcing the barriers that were previously set and escorting mortals off the mountain. the mountain is a place where other ghosts and spirits rest, and living kalons don't fare well there. however, they weren't always a spirit; perhaps this song could be a basis for their past.

if i'm allowed to make it off oekaki, then i'll definitely try to do it myself first! if not/if i need any help with the design or possible edits, i'll see if i can get any help? if i were to commission anyone, hiraeth + hound (if and when they're open), sentimental_android and saturnus would be my top choices qq w qq. everything is pretty tentative right now though, and i'll definitely figure out things as i go along.

How do you usually develop your kalons? [ 200 words ]

i've owned my 2 current kalons for less than a month at the moment, and when i'm on summer vacation, i plan to develop and characterize them more! with my other characters, however, i tend to like bouncing ideas off my friends and writing short one-shots to grasp a better feel of what their personalities are like. i tend to draw some inspiration for my characters from various media that i enjoy, and although i don't usually write anything down if i'm not writing a one-shot/story, i like talking about my characters with other people if i can first,, get past that awkward anxious stage. sometimes i'll attempt to draw my characters as well! i'm not very good with expressions or poses so characterization from that viewpoint is a little more difficult for me to do, but it's still nice to create art of my characters and polish up my skills at the same time.
i primarily write and draw my characters as humans, regardless if they're actually human or not. to me, they're easier to develop that way. however, sometimes there are certain scenes/themes that i'll do in their feral form because it makes more sense.

Tell me something about your favorite kalon: [ 300 words ]

this is kind of difficult because i only have 2 kalons, but my favourite at the moment would have to be nikolai! i haven't had the chance to draw or write much because of exams, but he's a tired ghost hunter who hates his job. he would've quit his job to find a new one if it wasn't for the fact that the ghosts never leave him alone, now that they know that he can see them. it really isn't as bad as nikolai makes it out to be; his pay is good, and although the ghosts can be annoying, he has his ways of suppressing them. however, he does drink alcohol a little too much to be healthy, and he blames it all on his job of course. he's tired and grumpy and wants the ghosts to heck off but they never do.
i don't have his history and past figured out yet, but nikolai does hate it when people call him "yuliy", which is his birth name. perhaps he had a falling out of some sort with his parents? a friend? a sibling? regardless of what happened, his birth name carries painful memories for nikolai, and he's the type of person to avoid all his problems until they become, well, unavoidable.
i'm uncertain as to how nikolai would be able to see ghosts when the mass majority can't, but it could be linked to an incident in his childhood. maybe a run-in with a malicious spirit that wanted to break up families and thought that nikolai was a perfect victim? anything really goes, i'm just rambling at this point. nothing is particularly set in stone at the moment because of the lack of time i've had, but i'll think about nikolai more when i do have more time.

What is something you like about the community? [ 81 words ]

i've only just rejoined the community, and from what i can see, the kalon community is relatively close-knit and everyone is kind to each other. there are so many talented people here, and seeing them create for their kalons inspires me to work hard too. because of the sheer size of the community, interacting with others does make me very a little nervous, but because everyone seems so welcoming, i feel like i don't have much to be afraid of.

Do you have a concept for a legendary design already? I do! i love pastel kiddos! and goth kids so I really want a pastel goth kid that has 1 angel wing and 1 demon wing. Basically, half of it is pastel goth and the other half is pastel light. It would be split in half and it would have some extra limbs since more the better!

Who will be making the myo? Im not the most confident in myself tho, i think ill sketch it for someone then they will line and color it

How do you usually develop your kalons? I dont have a kalon tho if I ever develop one, I like to sometime create stories so I will include them in a story.

Tell me something about your favorite kalon: I dont have a favorite kalon but what im looking in a kalon is a kalon that looks like it truly had been loved by the artist. Nobody wants a kalon that the artist didnt like or put no love on it.

Do you have a concept for a legendary design already? I have a very light concept around a mermaid (so a merkal) or an angel (kal with wings). I've always been obsessed with mermaids, and I come up with imaginative stories for them. I already have a kalon that's the angel of death, so I would make them the leader of angels. Either way, they would be put in a mermaid AU or an angel AU. I've also thought about making a demigod AU where they could be the son/daughter of the god/goddess of the ocean or the heavens.

Who will be making the MYO? I might try to make it at first, but if I'm not happy with the design I'll come up with a concept sketch and commission someone.

How do you usually develop your Kalons? I usually look at something within their design and spark information from it. If not, I usually generate job ideas and try to stem from there. Personality also comes easily to me. I usually jot down random notes on their oekaki page or toyhouse and continue on. Once the ideas start flowing, they're easy to continue.

Tell me something about your favorite kalon: My favorite kalon is Guija. I won her in a readopt, and I've loved her since. She was the first rare kalon I got, and I enjoyed developing her. I headcannoned her with Suamoe, who used to belong to someone else until they took a break from kalons. Now I'm developing them together and coming up with stories for them. I have yet to breed them together, but it would be interesting to develop their relationship and see how their children could live with them.

How many Kalons do you own? I own nineteen kalons and one unmade MYO.

Do you have a legendary kalon already? I do not own a legendary kalon.

What is something you like about the community? I love the people and how they interact! On the Kalon Discord, I've only ever gotten kindness and good comments. Everyone is so sweet, and I love talking to them.

I do! I’d like a kalon based on the spirit in the piece “Eternal Memoir - Saga of the Lucky Dragon” - I really adore the story and the piece itself stuck with me. I think that a kal embodying the spirit of something lost and yet found is a really fun concept to work with... Music is very important to me, and I feel like adding small nods to pieces I've played or heard both becomes a fun easter egg for me and a push to create something from what inspires me :)

I prefer to develop them through art, or talk it out with friends!! I don’t tend to develop my kalons very publicly, as I don’t often get a story down on paper... Honestly, I have so many little facts and ideas about my kals that never get farther than my brain, even if I have full intention of drawing them out haha.

Honestly? My kal Dontaye is my absolute favorite. I remember winning him and being so excited - especially since my story was a rather short one off sort of thing. Now he’s my most developed kalon and probably has the most art of all my kalons! I went back to read his story a couple months ago and it honestly gave me chills.. I adore this kal so much and his story has gained so many new faces, every time I get to build on what i’ve made I get so excited haha. After a good while of searching I've found him a partner, and it really opens up my universe to more possibilities. Though not much of it is on paper, he has the most development of all my kals for sure, and I couldn't trade him for the world!

I came upon thsi community by chance, actually! I was hesitant to get super involved but I have gotten so much more development in both my writing and art as I've enjoyed my time here. Kalons are something I can come to at the end of teh day and truly enjoy, I don't have to stress about anything and I know that I'm welcome and loved. I'm really glad to be a part of the community and to have reached out to others - I hope I can hang around for a good while!

Do you have a concept for a legendary design already? yep! i'd love to draw it from irish mythology, or irish culture - parts of my inspiriation are from poems by seamus heaney such as 'bogland' and 'the tolland man'. in this case, it would be based heavily on the actual supernatural life itself in ireland, such as banshees or the fair folk, perhaps selkies though they're more ocean-dependant so they're only a possibility.
the other choice i would draw from would be irish dancing! the costumes are wonderful and though i never did excel too well at it, I still love it and would love to base a kalon on it as well :>

Who will be making the myo? i'd attempt to design the concepts and all myself though i'd probably commission the final product. from who, i don't know.

How do you usually develop your kalons? my kalons are/would all be developed in a way that their lives and stories intermingle with each other. i start with the history and how they'd know each other, and then move on to personalities - it makes it easier to actually get into their personal lives at current if my characters history and relationships are established before everything else.

Tell me something about your favorite kalon: hyperion is my only kalon and still very new, so i haven't had a major chance to develop him with anyone else, but i have big plans for him! despite the fact he isn't the protagonist of my AU, he's probably the most important character to the AU. hyperion works as a social worker and his role would be that he's the original one to initiate the plotline and holds all the crucial knowledge, the why's and what's, about the protagonist and her siblings childhood. he both brings the story into existance and is the one to close it. part of his current story is that he is an avid watcher of a TV show that focuses on the decisions of an individual and how those choices influence both the character and the people around the character - his whole arc is about how one small case he worked on years ago, a case that meant nothing to him other than another job just like the one he'd worked on the day before, the decisions he made on that case, affected and completely changed the life of four other kalons so drastically that it both destroyed their lives and also more than likely saved them. i'm just!! so excited to start developing the AU when i have kalons to fill the roles so sorry for rambling, haha

What is something you like about the community? i really love how interactive it is! there's quieter people who stick to themselves, sure, but i see so many people reaching out to each other to develop their characters together, to do art or roleplay and it just amazes me that kalons have brought people together so strongly that strangers can become best friends because they decided to talk about how their kalons kinda look like sisters, we should make an AU about this! it's absolutely wonderful!

Do you have a concept for a legendary design already? Yes i do!
He's name will be Ezekiel, he'll have warm colors (mostly browns and reds) to create a bit of a friendly look. He'll be placed on my main kalons au, which is a medieval/fantasy au, where i plan to place him right at the beggining of the au story.
Ezekiel is the second child of the first king to have ever ruled. He'll be the first dragon rider to have ever lived and he will be the one to forge the most powerful weapon from the au called the "castle burner".
Ezekiel is extremily smart, what he lacks on brute strenght he gains on intelligence, Ezekiel believes in the future, he thinks that the future generations will save the realm, so much so he ends up leaving hints and clues in all the places to help the future generations.

Who will be making the myo? Oh man i suck when it comes to working with the kal lines so i would probrably end up saving up to comission someone else to do it.

How do you usually develop your kalons? I usually just brainstorm some ideas, maybe something about the kal designs gives me a certain idea for story or personallity. After that i'll just think where i can place them on the au, where would he fit well and contribute to the story, being a main character or not, at this part is where i usually like to place in some relations, i really love developming kals together. Once i'm done with all that important stuff i usually go to find some music that i think suits them well so i can figure out more about their character, personallity and motivations. Once i'm done with all of that i just like to think of some important events on the kals life, i usually really like this part just bcuz i start drawing these events with some concept art, sometimes i even finish the concepts and turn it into full pieces, which honestly it's just a blast.

Tell me something about your favorite kalon: It's my babe Aeryn, the first kalon that i started to develop on what would become my main au, i think that's just 99% of the reason to why she's my favorite? She just plays such an important part on the au and if i never got her, this au that i love so goddam much would have never existed. I also think that i can connect with her character really well, to me, Aeryn is one of my most well developed characters and i could go on for hours talking about all of her journey as a character. I lover how she acts with other characters, her strong personallity, her leadership, how her bad decisions affected not only her but the entire au. I just love her so much and everytime i just refer to her as "the Queen", her familly is by far the most intresting bloodline from the au, her children are my absolute life and so are her grandchildren. Plus, i absolutely love her design, her long hair, bushy tail, her palette.
She has this reference where she's wearing her cape, but someday i would love to comission someone to add her crown. Not to mention has been with me for a long time, i grew alongside her character, my art improved with her [ 1 2 3 4 5 ]
I love her character, from her first moments to her downfall, she just left a massive impact on the au and on me as well! <3

What is something you like about the community? Well the people of course, if it weren't for the kal community i wouldn't have met so many people that i completly love, and i can't see me without them. Plus, if it weren't for the kal community my art wouldn't have improved, i wouldn't have the biggest au i have ever developed, i would never have these characters i care so deeply about. I'm so thankful for everything the kal community ever gave me !!

Do you have a concept for a legendary design already?
Yeah, two character concepts. One is a goddess of lies, named maybe Oma, mother of one of my kal Kokichi, who around 3000 years ago gave him away and lied that she didn't care, and as time passed she realized her own lie and began to look for her son, going absolutely ballistic on the surrounding area, prompting several local towns to put out rewards for anyone who could slay her. She DOES find Chi, but he has two new dads (and a half dad) and he really doesn't want to go with her.
The other would be funnily enough, Kokichi's actual dad. A god of light who was already slain, and now his most loyal follower and angel and kinda his son, Erik, is looking to avenge, but Erik only finds the god's son, Chi and tries to get him to follow his dad's path of light and stuff.
The god ended up reincarnaing in other dimension and is trying to find a way to get Erik to stop.

Who will be making the myo? I would do it myself, tho ngl I'd love to do some commissions for $ to commission an artist, so possibly Schnuffel Bunny or hiraeth + hound or you, if you do myo commissions in that case (or some other wonderful artist bc dand there's so many great ppl out there)

How do you usually develop your kalons? All of it its on my head- tho I sometimes write some bits down on notes or th or when I'm telling someone-. I just think about them a lot, and honestly, I get very inspired by music and some bits of my kal's development reflect some of my favorite songs. I also doddle and draw my kals a lot, tho mostly on paper.

Tell me something about your favorite kalon:
I try to say I don't have favorites oops but really, Estelle is dumbly special to me? To begin with, back when the comp was still up, two people pm'ed me to tell me they hoped I winned and that meant so much to me?? I still have their pms and I'm really happy I did won and didn't let them down. Plus, the day I won her, september 15th, is the Independence holiday in the country I grew up and live in.
The art I made for her, I'm still very proud of it to this day. As well as the love letter that was part of the contest. I got motivated to enter for her because once my best friend at the time told me I was very romantic so I went for it! Now, that friend is my boyfriend and everytime I draw Estelle I remember how he motivated me skjdhj and not lying, I might have gotten inspired by how I felt about him to write the letter I'm just a mess. And Estelle's original character of being a cosplayer was also inspired by my bf who yea he cosplays so. I think Estelle makes me think of my bf and that's why I like her so much o o p S.

What is something you like about the community? People? There's a lot of nice people around. They make me want to interact and be nice too, just like they have been kind to me. Seeing everyone hang out and develop their characters motivates me to do the same too ^^. Plus, I really have drawn much more for kalon comps and for people on the kalon discord, it's been a huge help to improve my art and to be distracted at bad times and get over art blocks.

How do you usually develop your kalons? at first, i see if i can relate my own kalons to them. due to most of them having their own characters and worlds already, this helps me world build more with my own kalons but also allow for a more in depth way to flesh them out. afterwards, i headcanon with others and find more things to add about them along the way. i love headcanons with people especially as they usually help me figure out more concepts and understand my kal's char better as they develop because after i flesh them out, i don't know how to explain this but once i make a character, they start to have their own 'mysteries' i can't solve about their personalities so hcs help me realize why they act the way they act etc

What is something you like about the community? the people! whether it be staff or community members, i feel like i get along well with everyone and am able to talk casually with anyone in chats. it's always very welcoming to me so i love how easy it is to interact with people. i like how everyone's always actively reaching out to one another for headcanons, relationships, roleplays etc as well!
