rome's most valuable items are gems,
rare rocks that can only be found on the planet's surface.
the interstellar organization pays a hefty sum for gems,
and as such they serve as this planet's currency.

faq: why is there a currency?
gems are basically how this semi-rpg game is played.
gems are used to buy romeras or items from the shop.
though romeras are sometimes available for free,
you're more likely to flat sales and auctions
where gems are the required currency.

the requirement of the currency also makes it
so that only people who truly wish to participate
are able to join in on romera adopts;
ai: you shouldn't find anyone hoarding romeras
and leaving them undeveloped and/or abadoned

there are a few methods of getting gems for free:

𝚎𝚡𝚙𝚕𝚘𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗
the official minigame, playable daily, and scaling with level,
it can net you a hefty sum of gems if you're lucky.

𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚒𝚙𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚒𝚗 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚞𝚗𝚒𝚝𝚢
unlike other species, romera allows for trading of gems between people;
as such, it's perfectly fine to make art for someone for gems,
or even to trade items or a romera for gems.

𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚊𝚍𝚘𝚙𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜
entering in adoptions where honorable mentions can be earned-
such as during free adoptions, special adoptions, and auctions-
scoring well can net you a few gems as a consolation prize.

occasionally, official events, competitions, and raffles may occur:
with prizes ranging from romeras, to gems, to items.
there is no set schedule for these things,
so keep an eye out on the main thread.
