Some mutations are more rare than others. Follow this guide for information on types of mutations, rarity, and rates of passing on through breeding.

Currently this page is a work in progress so please do not post. For the time being, everyone can refer to this and eventually I'll get around to getting some pictures and better formating.

Mutations

Postby conversett » Sun Aug 20, 2017 12:38 am

Common, also known as standard or regular, cows are what you generally see in this adopt. They have no mutations.

It's uncommon for a cow to have any type of edit to the eyes, mutated ears, mutated horns, or a changed expression. Edits to a cow's eyes can be anything from colored sclera, and heterochromia, to shaped pupils, or any sort of line edit. Mutated ears and horns are anything that is not the standard cow's ears and horns. Recently it's found that snaggleteeth are also uncommon. These types of mutations have roughly a 20% passing rate from parent to calf, although this does vary between cows. You will probably see these types of cows on occasion. Although there is so many different uncommon traits among the Buttermilk bovines, it is rare to see more than 3 on one cow. In the event this occurs, all the uncommon mutations will be treated like a rare for breeding purposes.

It's rare for a cow to have a mutated hair growth, or having no horns at all. A mutated hair growth could be anything from a cow having a hairstyle like a humans, to a cow having a longer switch. A switch is the hair at the end of the tail. This does not make the tail longer and only affects the hair at the end. Having no horns would be when the small horn lines are completely erased and non-exist on the cow. These types of mutations have roughly a 15% passing rate from parent to calf, although this does vary between cows. You will not see these types of cows often.

It's very rare for a cow to have a structural change in their body, an abundance of mutated hair growth, and glowing eyes or markings. A structural change in a cows body would slightly change the make up of their body, this could be something like a pointed rump, a difference in the shape of the neck, a shorter length tail, or even the cows weight to be fat or skinny. An abundance of mutated hair growth would be a full on floofy cow. These types of mutation have roughly 10% passing rate from parent to calf, although this does vary between cows. A very rare cow usually appears on special occasions and at events, though once in a blue moon they can show up on a normal day.

Specially marked grains in the store can help you achieve these mutations outside of regular adopts. See the store for more information on the grains.

Accessories

Common, also known as standard or regular, cows are what you generally see in this adopt. They have no accessories.

It's uncommon for a cow to be seen with small articles of clothing, or carrying a small singular flower. Clothing can range anywheres from armbands, and bandannas, to little bows. As for flowers, there is no limit on what types or variety, but there can only be a small selective amount. They can be place anywheres on the cow.

It's rare for a cow to be seen wearing jewelry, or having a make over. Jewelry has no limits on what types can be seen, and has no limits on how much jewelry a cow can have. Feel free to think outside the box, though it is recommended that we can still see the cow through all the jewelry. Make overs includes, hair dye, body paint, glitter, and hoof polish. These are all different types of make overs, and when all four types of make overs are used on one cow it is called a full make over. Make overs can be seen on any type of cow, although some of them have restrictions. All types of make overs cannot be placed on a cow's eyes, nose, or horns. Hair dye can only be specifically used on the switch or on any mutated hair growths, as well as only appear in streaks. Body paint and glitter may only be used on the cows body and face, and must not cover the whole cow. Hoof polish can only be used on the hooves, and this acts like nail polish but instead permanently changes the cows hoof color. All types of make overs can be any colour, natural or artificial, and there is no limit to have any colours may be included in one make over. It's also considered very rare when I cow has a full make over, or something close to it.

It's very rare for a cow to be seen wearing large or medium sized articles of clothing. These can be things such as a blanket, harness, robe, or anything you can think of. There is no limitations of where they can be placed or what colors can be used.

Only accessible on Buttermilks made after the ownership transfer and can only be found through adopts, events, and the store. See store for prices.
