Kalons being used;; AdelineQuest response;;▶ Stay and help the lad
▷ Leave him and return to your party
Adeline can't help but give a little roll of her eyes- the poor bloke. "I suppose," she starts, rubbing her face with a sigh, "I suppose I could stick around and help you." Her voice, despite her efforts, carries a regretful and somewhat irritated tone.
"Thank you," breathes the innkeeper, his gaze locked on the handsome stranger only a few paces away. He sighs dreamily and fingers the bare spot on his finger where the ring once was. "There's some honey in the back, if you think it'll help you catch that pesky thing," he adds quietly. "And hurry! There's no telling when they're going to leave!" He seems incredibly flustered.
Adeline ignores the last bit and contemplates the effectiveness of honey on a weasel. Aren't they carnivores?
▷ Head to grab some honey anyway
▶ Ignore the innkeeper's suggestion and follow where the weasel went
The bar itself is dimly lit, with a thick shroud of cigar smoke immersing everything in sight. Adeline stifles a cough as a wave of rancid alcohol pervades her senses. She grows dizzy with the fumes, but only for a moment, and quickly gets ahold of herself.
God, she thinks.
Keep it together, Adeline.Suddenly, she notices a flash of brown along a shelf, loaded with bottles of gin. It waves through the glass, its image distorted as it slips between curves of amber and green. It then launches itself into a gap in the floor, presumably where a few floorboards had rotted away.
▷ Run over there!
▶ Investigate, but slowly.
Adeline's eyes narrow with concentration as she makes her way over to the hole. She crouches, noticing a distinctly musty scent, and slithers closer and closer to the weasel's home.
Then, ah, she was there. Peering right over the lip of the chasm, gagging over the smell.
What on earth has he dragged in there?Adeline pauses, on the edge of its hole, pondering on how she could lure out the creature. She drums her hands thoughtfully on the wood.
Suddenly - an idea! Adeline tugs off an earring and sets it down by the weasel's hole. She then scuttles back a few feet and proceeds to wait.
And wait...
and wait.
Until Adeline seriously considers defeat to be a reality. She stands, disappointed in her lack of ability, and goes to retrieve the earring when-
the creature pops up out of the hole and proceeds to hastily grab the earring.
▶ Grab the weasel!
▷ Attempt to reason with it.
The weasel tries to leap away, but unfortunately for it, is not fast enough. Adeline shouts triumphantly, and then in pain, as the wriggly little thing had just bitten her. She notices the innkeeper's ring slipped onto its tail and promptly collects it. She bends down to grab her earring, as well, and once both objects were secured, she plops the weasel back on the ground.
It gives her a menacing, angry hiss and moments later, disappears into the ground. So much for making a new friend.
She fiddles with the innkeeper's ring for a moment, wondering if it was real gold.
▶ Return the ring
▷ Steal it!
Adeline brushes the thought away and plods over to the counter. She drops the ring onto the varnished surface, much to the innkeeper's immediate delight. "Thank you!" he says, slipping the ring back onto a pale finger. "I was so worried for a moment, there!"
"It was no problem, mate," Adeline replies, shrugging half-heartedly. She offers up a hand and stares mischeviously at him. "I do believe you promised me some gems, though."
