Pretty sure I'm one of the people to blame for this...and I apologize to everyone it has affected.
I do want to say, though, that I feel like the price is a tiny bit extreme. DA points wise this is almost the price of a T1 custom.
My point is that not a lot of people can afford the prices that have been set. I am not complaining for myself, I will happily pay it when needed. (I still have two 'owed breedings' that I will be paying this price for, actually. v.v;)
I also feel it is unfair to those who have never bred their Viscets with certain traits before.
I'm sure this will not exactly help the issue at hand, but I propose a sort of 'increase' of payment each time a certain viscet is bred.
Say the starter price is 8CS, the second time I breed the same viscet for the tail mouth trait it becomes 16CS, and after that it becomes 32, so on and so forth.
At least this way someone can get at least one breeding from the viscet they own before paying an arm and a leg for another baby. There are people who have Tailmouth's, or other event rares that have never bred their's before (I'm sorry, again v.v;)
I already see an issue with 'well, they will breed one and give it to a friend, who will breed that one, then breed that one...and all for the single breeding price of 8CS.'
Maybe make the tail mouth (or any event rare), only to pass on one or two generations? This is kept up with easily enough as you already have to post family on a batch. Maybe the trait 'dissolves' after a generation or two?
This just means we have to think more deeply on who we want to breed our viscets with and not wastefully breed with anyone.
I don't know, I'm really just trying to help a situation that I feel I created. I, again, apologize for this.
(I will remove this if you want me to.)
It took many people to get to this point, Razors, so I assure you it's not solely you. This motion has been made because there are 31 (soon to be 35) tailmouths in total. Considering most of the other event rares stagger at 10 or under in all of existence. The Tailmouths more than double that number. As it stands and with the influx there is a high probability at this point that there will be no more tailmouths released in events for a least 1 year. If the influx worsens then likely we may never release them at an event again. This is a major problem. I know a lot of people want to have these but it is getting extremely out of hand.
Simply making the price "8 c$" and doubling each time is bred solves the issue of continuous breeders (but those who have money, like you and many others) won't be swayed to cut back on these breedings. And "new" users who receive the babies can pay the minimum amount and receive a new babe. Breeding that tailmouth beginning at the "cheapest" price, and their baby and so on and so on.
There is no way to make tapering off the trait okay either. Because imagine readopts, it's a 2nd gen readopt but it can't pass down that trait whatsoever? How's that anymore fair that jacking up the price to deter people from breeding? There are so many things we've considered and this is the best option as it stands. As it stands we have been hoping this tailmouth fad would sort of subside on it's own, but it's only persisted in becoming more and more apparent over time. There were 4 tailmouth nursery batches purchased within less than a full 24 hours shortly after the nursery had opened. The sad thing is, is if this influx doesn't calm or subside then likely I'll have to nix the tailmouth as a purchaseable mutation all together. And it may come to that.
I'll go through and edit my post here in a moment to give better feedback.
but the dA point pricing has been off for a long time which is back when people thought 25 pts = 1c$.
this was before I did the math to determine exactly the USD equivalent of C$ and whatnot.
I have adjusted the prices of the dA points after we (the staff) figured out a fair equivalent.
However: if adjusting the prices as they are now still does not calm down the influx on the tailmouths (because at this point they are less rare than a lot of our rare traits & a couple of our uncommon traits) then I will adjust the points per c$ ratio to be a bit higher.
