hadyn doesn't have a lot of impulse control. he often acts on his
feelings without thinking much of the consequences. these
outbursts are often pretty violent. this has caused a countless
amount of trouble throughout his childhood, and he's trying
to learn how to better control it in addition to his powers.

he's very good at talking to crowds of people, although he
doesn't particularly enjoy it very much. his flow of words
and his voice makes it very easy for others to understand
what he is saying, which is a pretty good quality to have
when you're in a place of power. he's also pays a lot of
attention to detail, and he often sees things that others
might overlook. because of these traits, he's commonly
chosen to go over the plans for battles or royal gatherings.

hadyn rarely protests when given an order, even if he has
no desire to do what he's being told to do. this earns him
a lot of respect from his parents and other people of
higher authority. however, he never really shows much
enthusiasm for what he's doing; he mostly just does it
for the sake of doing it, unless he's in a really good mood
or it's something that actually interests him.

he keeps to himself a lot, too. he tends to bottle up his feelings
and thoughts, and he rarely, if ever, opens up to another person.
his impulses sort of feed off of the negativity he keeps inside and
eventually can lead to a lot of trouble. one of the biggest issues
he has is that he has a lot of resentment towards his title, 'prince.'
he's aware that he is in no way cut out to be a good leader, and
he never got a choice in the matter. he was born into it. because
of all this, he made a few attempts to run away when he was
younger, but they were never successful. he hopes that maybe,
one day, he'll try again and succeed so he does not have to deal
with the forthcoming burden of taking his father's place as king.

\\ description //
hadyn is able to create and manipulate fire. while using
his powers, he cannot touch water, otherwise he'll get
hurt. his body also warms up from overuse, so if he does
it for too long he can get himself burnt.

the strength of these powers depends on his emotions.
if hadyn is feeling angry, his powers will be at their
strongest potential. they're the weakest when he's
happy. basically, the more negative and violent the
feeling, the stronger his powers get. sometimes he
gets too out of hand, so he ends up locking himself
in a specially made room with fire-proof walls and
candles lined up around the perimeter of the floor.
when he's in there, he lights all the candles and sits
in the center of the room and either focuses on his
breathing or he messes with the intensity of the
candles' flames. he's found that the latter is actually
pretty calming, and he does it occasionally for fun.

\\ when he discovered it //
hayden was 7 when he first discovered his powers. he was
aware that he would have some sort of power, due to it
being part of the bloodline and all, but he didn't really
expect it to be like this. it came about when he had gotten
really upset because he had messed up a poem he had been
writing with ink so it couldn't be erased. fire started to form
around his paws and he ended up burning the paper to ashes.
at first, he had no idea what had happened, but when he
looked down, he saw smoke rising from his body. he immediately
began to panic, frantically trying to find out what was causing it.
eventually, he calmed down and began to experiment with
it. part of him hoped he had just been imagining it, but, of
course, it turned out to be more than that.

\\ how he dealt/deals with it //
at first, hadyn didn't want to tell anyone else about his
powers, but he finally decided that he needed to tell
someone so he could get the proper training to learn to
handle it. he went to his mother first, and they talked it
over before going to his father. once both his parents
knew, they scheduled two periods throughout the day
where they could dedicate their time to learning how his
powers worked and to master certain tricks. as time went
by, these sessions were eventually cut to one a day.

currently, hadyn only has one session every other day, and
the main focus now is to figure out if it's possible to separate
his powers from his feelings so things don't get quite as
intense when he's upset.

\\ relationship with parents //
hadyn really loves and respects his parents, especially
his mother. they're very supportive of one another, and
they have a few common interests such as writing and
sometimes painting. they're also known to team up to
pull harmless pranks on his father, much to his dismay.

his father is a bit different. because he's the king, he's
always been a bit stern and emotionless, so hadyn can't
really get a lot of support and sympathy from him. there
is also a bit of blame that hadyn puts on him because, well,
he's the king and that puts hadyn in line for being the next
one. despite this, though, there have been times where
they open up and genuinely have a good time together.

\\ fav childhood memory //
hadyn's favorite memory from his childhood is when his
mother first took him through her garden. his father was
with them, too, and it was just a really nice experience
of unspoken bonding between the three of them. the
garden became one of hadyn's favorite places to be
because of that, and it's just a really pretty and peaceful
place to be in general.
