TrixiePixie wrote:Okay, so I am going to have a pumpkin carving contest. There are three different categories you can enter to win...

1. drawing/pixeling
This means you draw in any format of your choosing, it can be hand drawn, it can be done in the oekaki or by pixeling, whatever you prefer, a carved pumpkin. Be as creative as you'd like, just so long as there is a pumpkin with a face carved into it in the drawing, it should be fine!

2. writing
for this one you will need to write a story about a pumpkin carving experience. It does not need to be about a real experience you have had, it can be fictional, it just has to be about picking out and carving a pumpkin for Halloween. Must include details of how the carving looks!

3. real life picture
and finally, if you carved an awesome pumpkin yourself this year, you can take a picture of it and submit it in this category. You must prove it is your picture, so you will need to make a sign with your username on it and place it on the ground in front of the pumpkin when you take the picture. Just make sure not to include yourself or anybody else in the picture!

You may enter all 3 categories if you would like, but only once per category and you will only be allowed to win first place in one! There will also be second and third place winners if there are enough entries into each category!

The first place prize will be ten pieces of candy, one of each color plus your choice of one of the Halloween decorations!
second place will be your choice of one entry into a skeleton fish OR 5 pieces of random colored candy!
third place will be your choice of one of the Halloween plants or colored sand!

This will stay open until midnight on the 31st!

Do we post our entries here or PM them to you?

Other: I'm looking for a different species of the Jack O'Lantern fish, simply, or if you want to offer another that's fine too. For the zombie, however, I'll be looking at colors that fit together; the orange and greenish conflict to me in this one uvu
PM or Post: Either.
I have this pumpkin fish I would swap if you are interested...

and these two I would consider swapping either one for the zombie-ish fish if you like...

I'll gladly trade the two pumpkin fish for each other, and Black/Orange for the zombie c:

I want to enter the writing contest!

Here is my entry... (post story below)
As I was taking a walk, admiring the golden rainbow of the autumn leaves, a piece of paper drifted towards me on the breeze. Curious, I picked it up to see what it had to say. It was a flier advertising a pumpkin patch that just so happened to be right down the road from me. I decided that I would continue my walk and pay the place a visit. When I arrived at the address listed, I looked up and, astonishingly, there was an enormous pumpkin patch growing beside a beautiful pond. I must have passed this place a thousand times before, but not only had I never seen the pumpkins. I had also never seen the pond. Hesitantly, I approached, looking for someone to explain. Finally, an old man appeared behind me, seemingly out of nowhere, smiling. "I see you've brought your ticket!" He held out his hand. I looked at him perplexed for a moment before I realized that he meant the flier. I handed it to him, "You know, I've never noticed this place before, and I pass by it nearly every day." He chuckled. "Many people nowadays never notice things that are right beneath their noses. The few who take the time out of their day to look are often greatly rewarded." Before I could further question him and tell him that I was almost certain that I remembered there being an empty field here yesterday, he turned and started walking towards the pond. I followed until we arrived at the edge of the water. The pumpkins seemed to get larger and more perfect as we approached. He looked out over the patch and spread his arms wide. "Pick any one that you would like!" I hesitantly glanced around until my eyes settled on one growing separately, right beside the pond. It was completely symmetrical and bright orange with no blemishes. It looked almost fake. As I approached it, a splashing sound came from the water. I glanced up, stopping dead in my tracks. The pond was filled with dozens of the most gorgeous fish I had ever seen. There were many different colors and shapes, but no one outshined any other. I stood there for a moment just watching them. Wanting to capture the scene in front of me, I decided that the pumpkin would make an appropriate canvas. Excited, I turned to tell the old man, but he had vanished. Not knowing what else to do, I picked the pumpkin and took it home. I got my carving supplies and cut a circular hole in the top. I reached in, pulling out the slimy orange guts and seeds. I sliced into the face of the pumpkin, creating a scene with a fish coming from behind a water plant. The leaves were long and skinny, appearing to be moving in the water. The fish had a large fanned out tail. For some of the details, I didn't cut all the way through the skin, but left a thin enough layer so that the light would still shine dimly through. I must have spent two or three hours trying to make everything perfect. I sat back and looked at my creation. It was my best work yet. I sat it on my porch, placing a lit candle inside. The next morning, I went back to the place where the pumpkin patch had been, but only an empty field was in its place.
