    Welcome to Version 2 of the Ryuk Wolf Information Center! Here you can learn all there is to know about Ryuk wolves, a species created by Perocore in 2012 (seems so long ago now)! Please do not post here. If you have questions you can PM me.

    Ryuk Wolves are an ancient species of canine that, at one point, were nearly hunted to extinction for the ivory of their horns, the thick fur of their pelts, and the special oils that they secrete to keep their fur from getting wet or freezing in the cold. Now they are making a slow recovery in various protected areas of National Parks.

    The Ryuk wolf is a formidable beast- very similar in build and appearance to a grey wolf but about 1 1/2 times the size. Their fur is very dense and plush, great for cold climates but not so much for warmer climates. Both males and females have moderately sized horns curving back from their heads and looping to meet their checks, similar in fashion to a ram's horns. Ryuk also have a pair of small, feathered wings that are used for keeping them afloat in the water and giving added speed while running. The wings are too small to allow for flight, but can increase leaping distance and height by a slight percent.

    Color wise, Ryuks tend to vary quite a bit. The base coat is always a shade of brown (from coffee to dust to brick), grey, or, very rarely, diluted blue. Only albino Ryuks have pure white fur, though some are very light in color. The markings over the base coat can be of any hue except for neon. White spotting is not uncommon, and many have been seen with stripes, blazes, and socks. The eyes come in nearly any shade, but only albinos have red/pink eyes, and none have solid color eyes, the pupil and eye white are always very defined. Shades of gray are rare, but have been known to naturally occur. The nose is always black if the base is dark, or pinkish orange if the base is light. Albinos have pink noses. Paw pads are the same color as the nose. Horns are usually dark brown, or black, and are never a lighter shade than the body. Albinos usually have pale cream or light silvery colored horns. Tongues, tear ducts, and and flesh is all naturally colored (comparable to a wolve's).

    Unlike gray wolves, Ryuk Wolves have black bone. Because of this many ancient tribes believed Ryuk wolf bones to have medicinal properties and would hunt them for their bones. This has since been outlawed.

    A pack of Ryuk wolves will usually have hunting parties of about about 4 to 6 experienced males that are in charge of providing the pack with food. The number of separate hunting parties depends upon the size of the pack, the larger the pack, the more hunting parties.
    The party will track down large prey such as caribou, elk, reindeer, moose, and deer. They then will circle off a single member of the prey and the leading Hunter will give the signal for the party to attack. Most of the ryuk will usually run the prey down, snapping at it and goading it towards the lead hunter, while another will usually cling to the back of the prey, doing as much damage as it can, and holding on for dear life. The lead hunter will wait for the rest of the party to chase the prey to it's hiding spot, then the lead hunter will ram into the prey and deliver the killing blow. Then all of the party will divide the prey into pieces and carry the pieces back to the rest of the pack, after eating the next party will go out.
    The lead hunter always plans the attack and gives the signals, it will also choose which animal to take down, and generally directs which way the animal will go. The lead hunter is always a more dominant, well respected Ryuk.

Still on the way;
Social behavior, reproduction, habitat and range, interaction with humans, and more!
