How will this cat/group fit into your Clan?: Willowroot’s muteness leads her to have difficulty communicating with SuburbClan. In the beginning, she has a friend and fellow warrior translate for her. But soon, she and her friend start standardizing their communication system and teaching it to their Clanmates, becoming the inventors of SuburbClan’s sign language. Initially, the sign language is only used for communicating with Willowroot and for communicating silently on patrols. However, a deaf cat eventually comes into the Clan who needs a mentor. Willowroot takes on this cat as her apprentice, teaching them sign language in addition to normal Clan duties. The two work very well together, and the deaf apprentice becomes a warrior with minimal disability-related delays. Throughout her life, Willowroot takes on teaching roles, helping her Clanmates to learn sign language so that every cat can communicate well.

How will this cat/group fit into your Clan?: When Sundae ran away from his housefolk, he expected wild living to be smooth sailing. Instead, he struggled to hunt for himself, and nearly starved to death. When a SuburbClan border patrol ran into the skinny young tom, they offered to feed and shelter him for as long as he needed. He gladly accepted, and made himself at home with the kittypet-warriors. While living with the Clan, he told them his story. Sundae’s housefolk babied him, always doing things like putting him in cutesy outfits and carrying him around when his legs worked just fine. He figured life on his own would be better, but now he realized that he needed his housefolk, and that all their annoying quirks were just their ways of showing their love. Angelstar told Sundae he was welcome to return to his home, but he could be a SuburbClan warrior at the same time if he wanted. He accepted, and took on the name Sundaewhisker. In the end, he chose to live the double life of a SuburbClan warrior – warrior by day, kittypet by night. SuburbClan taught him how to better stand up for himself against his housefolk, and he was shocked when they responded by babying him less. In SuburbClan, because of the sorry state he first met them in, he often feels like he has something to prove, even though the Clan’s accepted him as a full warrior able to hunt and fight by himself.
