Autumnstar gazes on their familiar faces with a calm cyan gaze, she seems so sure, and Aldertail almost chuckles to himself. Autumnfrost, always the calm in times of chaos. If anyone could sort this out, it's her. That's what they are thinking, but Aldertail knows better. They discussed this before the meeting was called, as the rogue group advanced on their land. She has no idea what to do.

Autumnstar looks down at the clan she leads, she has to will herself to be calm and reliable for them. It's part of leadership. She feels the reassuring gaze of her deputy Aldertail not far away, and closes her eyes for a moment to center herself in gravity. Suddenly, she remembers something important- she called this meeting because they have to do something. In the face of fear, her family has to come to some decision. She looks to Aldertail for support and his eyes hold nothing but pride and assurance for her. Of course, this meeting wasn't for her to demand action, it was a place to discuss actions they could take together.
Autumnstar releases an audible breath, looking out over her clan, "I'm sorry." She says at first, "I must admit to you that I don't have the answers you want. Or an easy solution to your anticipations," The looks of surprise or worry don't surprise her, she almost finds comfort in them, "The most I can do is call out to the stars and hope they have some wisdom for me that I don't have myself, and in the meantime I need your help." As if reading some cue, Aldertail steps forward, speaking out to the clan with a clear voice, "Together, we will determine a path."

Cedarpond watches on, worry in her voice as she calls out, "Are they hostile? What if they attack those around our borders?" Her thoughts go to Wickerpaw, her son who visits her. She feels sick to her stomach, "What if someone gets hurt..." Aldertail's voice is calm as his gaze settles on her, "Hold on, we don't know they mean harm,"

"They're stealing from us!" Seastorm shouts as he leaps to his paws. "That's harm enough!" He looks to those around him, murmuring either in agreement or in indignation at his interruption. "We can't afford for these cats to take our prey!" Autumnstar steps towards him, and he can't help but to feel she's challenging him, "And perhaps if they are desperate?" She speaks defensively, "We don't know why they're here."

Poppyfrost amends quietly from where he sits just within the shade of the tree trunk, Aldertail sitting not a taillength from him atop it, "They have clearly acknowledged that we are here, and have made a point of marking their borders as they move further into our land." A tortiouseshell molly next to him calls out in support to his claim, "Sacred land, even! They can't take that from us!"

"Come now, if we treat them as enemies already, we're going against our code." There is a moment of quiet as unease spreads through the crowd, Emeraldgaze dipping her head in anxiety. Autumnstar comes to her rescue, as she often does, "Sitting here in question isn't the right solution."

"We should confront them, like Morningclan!" Seastorm shouts, and is met with the surprise, "If we send a large enough patrol, they may be intimidated. Maybe we can get answers."

Murmurs of concern and agreement meet him, and Aldertail nods, "Yes, Autumnstar, I think the only way we can get answers is if we truly try to reach out."

Ketsrelstar watches her clan mill about in the clearing beneath her, the tension present palpable like electricity in the air. They had been watching the rival group move ever closer the past few turns of the moon, stealing prey and territory alike. They seemed slowed by their lack of acquaintance with the land, but she knew with time this would pass, and they would surge faster into the mountainous area. For now, they had time to decide; it would not remain this way.

When she sees that everyone is gathered, she raises to her paws, calling for quiet. As everyone settled she raked her gaze across the clearing, letting it settle on Rosecloud. The deputy gave her a slight nod, tipping her head towards the clan as an invitation to begin. Returning the nod, Kestrelstar drew herself up to her full height and turned to address her clan.

"I know the group of cats that have moved in past the river has ruffled feathers. It isn't ideal, but they've yet to attack us, so we can't lose hope yet for a peaceful resolution." Her gaze slipped over to Emberheart as the bright she-cat stood. The young ginger tabby was still full of youthful fire, ready to take on the world.

"We can't let them walk all over us if it comes to a fight. We can hope it doesn't, but we should be prepared for one nonetheless." It's surprisingly wise considering who's it's coming from, and Kestrelstar can only blink for a moment before smiling, still proud of the advancements her old apprentice makes.

The tabby nods, edging closer to the edge of her perch. "We will try the route of peaceful outreach first. It has always been our nature to do so. We are warriors, though, just the same. If it comes down to no other option we won't be pushed aside like an old kill. We have lived in these mountains for generations, we protect these forest and hills, no group of rogues will come in and force us out." She looks around, taking in the bright faces of her clanmates.

"This land belongs to us! If peace is not an option we will fight tooth and claw to keep it!" Yowls go up from the crowd, cats eager to prove their loyalty to the land by fighting for it. She quiets them with a flick of her tail. "Peace is our way, but if they bring it to a fight so be it. We will be ready for them."
