TODAYS PROMPT
Today's dog show theme is picked by a student that loves rainbows and will judge the show based on how colorful the dogs are. Countershading (slight lightening of a dog’s undersides and/or slight darkening of a dog's back not associated with a marking) does not count towards the number of colors. Merle does count (2-4 depending on herding harlequin and white markings). Vitiligo counts for 1 if the dog does not have any other white markings. Example of a dog with dramatic countershading on the saddle (only 4 distinct shades of color from cream, white, diluted liver, and liver), example of dog with shaded sable (only 3 distinct shades of color from black masking/thylacine brindle/sable, tan, and white), example of roaned dog (only three distinct shades of color from black masking, red, and roaned white), example of albino dog (1 color - white, pink accents do not count), example of countershading (2 colors - isabella and white), and example of merle (4 colors - white, liver, diluted liver, and cream).
