Writing: Personality development for Empress A-0100 [310 words]

When you have a large amount of dogs all living in the same place, there's gotta be someone to lead them right? Well, that's the job that Empress took. The other dogs jokingly call her "The Overseer", though sometimes it really does seem like she's somehow looking at what everyone's doing, even if they're not in the same room as her she always knows what they're up to or what they've already done, which tends to freak the others out a bit. She was the one to establish house rules so the peace can be kept and so their home continues being at least semi-clean, rule-breaking is dealt with accordingly. She's a fair judge, so breaking the rules by mistake or due to necessity is understood by her and will have no consequences, she also encourages everyone to challenge her authority if they feel like something hasn't been done correctly, it was unfair of her to do it or they have a better suggestion. Being the wisest dog in their owner's home leads to the others going to her so they can have their problems solved, and while she may give a quick solution, most times she tells them vague answers, metaphors or riddles if she feels like the issue needs to be taken care of by the other dog on their own. While it may bother them in the moment, it always ends up helping later on. She's constantly found near water, whether that's next to a window when it's raining and thunderstorming, outside next to the garden's pond or even beside her water bowl, her favorite "treat" that still baffles everyone is... Ice cubes, they all suspect that it's because she loves water so much but they don't get it and she doesn't give them any explanation either, she just shrugs and winks whenever she's questioned about it.

Quick heads up that I need to be switching the result posts to the evening rather than the morning - I don't think I'll have enough time in the mornings before work to get everything squared away and I don't want to leave you hanging. I will be editing this post with results today in ~4ish hours as a transition before posting tomorrow's results in the evening.

Atlas and Frisco found a small path off the trail to follow, could this be a shortcut? It's a hard, steep hike but when you come out of the bushes (and check for ticks) you find you've made some serious progress up the mountainside. You've progressed 279 feet up the mountain!
You also get 26 feet from community participation, 25 feet from personality development, 15 feet from likes & dislikes, 50 feet and 7 SAR points from a shaded halfbody (colored lines), and 125 feet and 18 SAR points for two shaded fullbodies (colored lines)! You did a fantastic job coloring Frog, Miss, and Sherifax in and good thing you didn't get a salmon treat as a reward last round!

Linus and shortstop follow what you think is the trail to a busy highway. With cars flying past it's definitely not safe to cross, so you turn around and try to find another route. Unfortunately you've failed to progress up the mountain today.

Marek and werepickle come across a 'Do Not Enter' sign and a fence - this area is blocked off to protect a wetland with endangered plant species. You spend a significant chunk of your day trying to find a way around the fence to continue up the mountain. Unfortunately you've failed to progress up the mountain today.

Cinnamon and ►Athena◄ set a hard pace but have to stop short when they reach a scree field. You carefully follow the trail across a marked and (supposedly) safe section without issue. You've progressed 311 feet up the mountain!

Chester has spotted something in the trees and is acting very suspicious of it - sniffing the air, fur bristling, and circling around whatever the object is. As Gasparluna844 gets closer they see that it’s a rather large white bathtub in a small clearing - how the heck did that get there? You take a picture because you know no one will believe your story before continuing up the mountain. You've progressed 357 feet up the mountain!
You also gain 25 feet from personality development plus 82 feet and 15 SAR points for the additional word count, and 150 feet and 10 SAR points for your spooky drawing of Empress - I love how her eyes are glowing!

While hiking Delgado and Julius525 come across a rustling bush. Before you can do anything Delgado has dived headfirst into the bush, only to backpedal quickly and run to your side. A moment later the smell hits you - they've been skunked! You spend the rest of the day trying (and failing) to get the awful smell out of their fur. Unfortunately you've failed to progress up the mountain today.

Ghost and Delta Dawn got an early start today, so early in fact that the sky was still a little dark and the stars were still out when you packed up camp and started hiking. Ghost is a little tired but does a good job keeping pace. You've progressed 346 feet up the mountain!

Writing: Story regarding the event featuring #A-0005 SM's Read Between the Lines//Linus [307 words]

Linus couldn't quite put his paw on it, but something about the hike had changed. The trainer was doing a lot of mumbling under their breath, and they kept referencing some kind of map that they'd been given. Linus decided to stick close and offer some reassurance. He also started paying a little more attention to what was going on around him. It was hard, though. Especially when they passed a small herd of deer.
The terrain started to change again, but this time it seemed as though the forest was getting thicker again. Linus was confused, but he trusted the trainer as they kept walking along the trail. The noise of the forest also started to change. The calls of birds and insects started to fade away, replaced by a sound that seemed oddly familiar. Were those...cars? Linus' head tilted, and he stole a glance at the trainer. Were they still going up the mountain?
The noise got louder, and Linus began to get a little nervous. His fears were confirmed when the two of them broke through the tree line. They were met with a busy highway, cars rushing by them at crazy speeds. The trainer cursed under their breath and quickly grabbed Linus by the collar. The dog would never have run out into traffic like that, but he appreciated that the trainer cared so much about his safety. The two of them quickly turned around and retreated back into the forest.
Once they were safely away from the road, the trainer found a tree stump and sat down. The map was pulled out again, and Linus looked over the trainer's shoulder to see it. The dog couldn't read a map, but it was pretty neat to look at. Linus was sure that they could still make it to the peak of the mountain.
