Virus was dragging his backpack up a hill.... why? Because Pine convinced him that going camping was a good idea. When they reached their camping spot, Virus collapsed onto the ground. "Finally! We arrived!" he says panting as he was out of breath from the climb. He looked over and Pine seemed to not even break a sweat. "I told you to pack light" Pine scolded him. "But I couldn't leave my computer! You already convinced me to leave my coding kit and the usb port already" Virus complains back. He noticed Pine rolling his eyes when he though he wasn't looking. "Hey! It may come in handy!" He protests. Pine sighs, "Come help me pitch the tent then" It was Virus' time to sigh, "fiiiiiiiiiiine" he stumbles over and the two began to unfold the tent. Around halfway through, Virus somehow ended up underneath the tent instead of in it. "Help?" He calls out from under the tent. He say pine shake his head and then a paw came under the tent and grab him and drag him out from underneath the tent. Virius collapses onto the ground once more. "This is too hard, I need technology" he complains. "You barely did any work!" Pine points out. "Well.... uh..." Pine smirks at Virius' inability to form words. Virius then starts tickling Pine, "okay, okay! I admit you did hammer in one peg! It was just one though!" And the two tumble around pointing paws at each other and trying to get the other to admit they didn't do things. (282 words)

Addie is the dictionary definition of a dog. She's loyal, knows a few basic commands, and will help "clean" the dishes after you've finished your meal. She enjoys the more simple things in life, like walks around the neighborhood and trips to the dog park. But don't be fooled! Addie has a secret skill that no other dog in her pack shares. She can escape from anywhere, any time. It doesn't matter what the trainers do to try and contain her; Addie always finds a way to get out and go on some fun adventure.

Marek and werepickle come to an open stretch of trail with no trees. A very strong wind is blowing up the exposed mountainside, so strong that you struggle to keep your balance and Marek turns around. You wait until the wind dies down, but it takes the rest of the morning and afternoon. Unfortunately you've failed to progress up the mountain today.
You gain 40 feet from community participation and 130 feet and 20 SAR points from your sweet story about Marek enjoying the autumn flavors and leaf piles!

As you climb up a stretch of rocky trail, you come up to a narrow passageway between two rock walls. A strong wind is blowing through the rocks, so you and Chocolate Puff take advantage of the wind to take a break and cool off. You've progressed 319 feet up the mountain!
You also gain 49 feet from community participation and 50 feet and 10 SAR points from your short story about Pine and Virius going camping!

Ghost and Delta Dawn got distracted by a stream and followed it up the mountainside to a small waterfall and pool, how nice! The water is clear and cool, and Ghost hops in for a quick swim. You've progressed 306 feet up the mountain!

While hiking Linus starts whining and their fur starts to bristle before they firmly plant their feet in place, refusing to move. shortstop looks around, trying to figure out why Linus isn’t moving just as the wind changes. You start smelling smoke and up ahead you can see flames flickering between tree trunks. You grab Linus and immediately run towards the ranger station you passed earlier to inform them of the fire. Unfortunately you've failed to progress up the mountain today.
You gain 40 feet from your list of Addie's likes and dislikes and writing about her personality!

While hiking Sei and Frisco come across a rather large turkey standing in the middle of the trail. You make sure to keep Sei away from the bird as you take a few pictures and wait for it to cross the trail. You've progressed 341 feet up the mountain!
You also gain 35 feet for community participation and 38 feet and 6 SAR points for your headshot of Novel, 76 feet and 10 SAR points for your headshots of Sei and Wizard, as well as 63 feet and 10 SAR points from your fullbody of Nox! You did a great job coloring these in and I love seeing the variety of lines you've been using!

Delgado and Julius525 set a hard pace but have to stop short when they reach a scree field. While carefully following the trail across a marked and (supposedly) safe section, Delgado scrapes their paw and you have to carry them across the rest of the rocks. You stop for the evening to tend to their paw. Unfortunately you've failed to progress up the mountain today.

Things were focused and serious today. Linus kept his eyes on the trail ahead, instead of being distracted by the rest of the mountain that existed outside of the trail. They had heard that other dog teams had managed to make it to the peak of the mountain. Linus and the trainer desperately wanted to be included in that number. They were tantalizingly close at this point. Linus was determined to make it up there.
The start of the day was going well. They'd both eaten a hearty breakfast, and hadn't managed to come across any obstacles on the trail. Linus didn't even see any wildlife as they walked. It all seemed just a little too perfect, but Linus didn't think much of it. If this kept up then they'd be at the peak in no time. Then something in the air changed, and Linus froze where he stood.
There was a smell in the air that frightened Linus to his very core. He wasn't super familiar with the smell of smoke, but he knew what it meant if smoke was present. There was a fire close by. If the fire was out on the mountain, then it probably wasn't contained at all. As the trainer turned around to see what was going on, a low growl rose up in Linus' throat.
They needed to get out of here. Now.
The trainer caught on to the situation quickly, and Linus watched as all of the colour drained from their face. There was a moment of understanding between trainer and dog, and then the two of them bolted back down the trail. They'd passed a forest ranger's station on the way, so they headed back that way. Would they make it in time to get the fire under control?
