Cocoa had never been fond of other cats' 'accessories' when he was younger. Especially those that they wore around their necks; it reminded him of housecats and their silly little collars that scared off prey and seemed to summon humans with their jingling. Not to mention what the things represented.

But as he grew, they came to realize that things were never really that simple. Their sister - who had always hung onto her bandana she'd kept from their housecat days - grew apart from them, finding a new path. One that they didn't feel they could follow.

Her bandana evidently wasn't allowed to follow either, and she gifted it to them to remember her by before going off to join the group of cats that called themselves a 'clan'. Now, they wouldn't dream of going without it. It represented something much too important.
