Short story: Dognapped
featuring Omen & Seven (owned by me) [363 words]

It had been days since Seven began investigating the case of the stolen dogs at the Blue Ridge Club competition grounds. He had questioned several canines—mostly those who had vanished from their homes and were now accompanied by unfamiliar humans, but also those who had arrived with their actual owners. He gathered details about the circumstances under which they had been taken and sniffed around the cars they arrived in. The scents on the tires told him one thing clearly: the dogs had come from all over the place. Only a few remained to question. Once he had identified all the victims, he’d need to take matters into his own paws and somehow alert the event organizers that there were criminals among them. That would be the hardest part. Maybe he could get someone’s help… but definitely not his current handler—they probably wouldn’t understand.

Seven was abruptly pulled from his thoughts. He spotted something familiar in the crowd of colorful furs.
“Omen?” he said aloud, watching as one of the dog’s brightly colored ears twitched at the sound of his voice—soon followed by a pair of mismatched eyes turning his way.

“Seven!” the dog barked excitedly and bounded over. “What’s up? Wait, I know, bet you’re on the case of the stolen dogs. Being the best police dog in the universe and all that.” Omen poked him with a paw teasingly.

Seven scoffed. “I wouldn’t know about that. I came here for the competitions, but once I heard about the thefts, I couldn’t sit idly by.” Seven observed Omen for a moment with a calculating stare. “Don’t tell me you’ve been stolen as well. How?” he added with disbelief in his tone. Omen was a very intelligent and a little mischevious dog. It was hard to imagine him getting tricked by a stranger.

“Well, you know how it goes…” Omen said, scratching himself behind an ear. He seemed to be avoiding Seven’s eyes. “One moment you’re chewing on a bone, the next you’re being kidnapped. Okay fine, I might have helped a little bit.”

Seven rolled his eyes and Omen looked at him apologetically.

“I’ve never been kidnapped before. It seemed like fun.”

Seven reminds me of a black jaguar, in particular he reminds me of a male named Neron. Neron has a dark black coat rosettes outlined in a dark brownish color that peak through his coat and gleam in the sunlight, similar to how Seven's red fur peaks through the black of his agouti coat.

like a penguin or an owl! i think its the markings thats remind me so much of a penguin and the brindle on the neck/face that make me think of an owl!
