Getting Started
New to the rescue? Well, in that case, welcome! You're in the right place, just keep on reading!

Of course, one of the main parts of the Cottontails community is obtaining your first bun. This can be exciting,
and I wish you luck! There are different ways that you can get a Cottontail, and they are listed below.

Main Adoption
One of the most straightforward ways to adopt a Cottontail is through a normal adoption!
You simply need to find a rabbit without a home and fill out the provided form. There are
many types of adoptions; naming contests, raffles, and writing challenges to name a few!
On the chosen end date, the artist will pick a winner. No worries if you don't win on your
first try, there's always next time!

Readoption Contests
Sometimes, a user just won't feel a connection to their Cottontail anymore, and they will
choose to host a readoption! They will make a contest much like a normal adoption, and
the winner will become the new owner of the rabbit. The archivist should be messaged by
the new owner to have the archives updated!

Gifting & Trading
These two have been combined into one section as they are very similar. If a user no longer
wants their Cottontail, they can not only readopt it, but they can gift or trade it away too!
Gifting & trading are the same except that gifting is from one user to another, while trading
involves a rabbit being traded for another rabbit, items, or breeding slots. You can compare
this to trading on ChickenSmoothie if you're confused! When a trade or gift takes place, both
users involved should post on the original adoption page(s) of the rabbit(s) and message the
archivist about the trade.

Creating Your Hutch
While it isn't mandatory, creating a hutch is recommended as it unlocks features such as breeding and
trading! It is also useful to keep track of your Cottontails. Read on to find out how to make your hutch!

What is a hutch?
A hutch is basically a storage thread for your Cottontails! While there is some information you do need
listed in your hutch, most of it is up to you. Bare-bone CS threads to elaborite Weebly sites - everything
is welcome! Your limits are your imagination.

First off, you'll want to think of a name! Make sure to check that the name you
are thinking of isn't already taken. Visit the archives to see other users' hutches!

You've got a nice, unique name? Great! Now, you can make the first page/post
of your hutch. You can use this as an introduction to your hutch, a list of all your
bunnies, breeding slot permissions, anything really!

As I said, almost everything is up to you. I encourage you to have fun with it!

Must-Have Information:
Name - the name of your Cottontail
Sex - the given sex at birth, can be either buck/male or doe/female
Number - the number listed on the rabbit's creation page
Adoption Page - a link to the original creation page of the rabbit
Slots - a list of the five breeding slots & if they are used, given away, or unused

When you do create your hutch, remember to add to the list of official hutches!

Traits
There are many special traits that Cottontails can have! The rarity of each trait
affects how often it will pass in breedings. If you believe there is a trait that is
missing from this list, feel free to message a staff member! Thank you!

No Rarity:
•Artist style choices [eyelashes, line highlights, etc]
•Accessories [flower crowns, bow ties, etc]
•Special pupils [stars, slits, etc]
•Custom-lined
Does not pass in breedings.

Standard:
•Unedited lineart [the lineart without any special features]
Will always pass in breedings.

Common:
•Facial expression [closed eyes, frown, etc]
•Heterochromia [different-colored eyes]
•Upward ear edits [ear edits that are still upward]
40% chance for one parent // 80% chance for both parents

Uncommon:
•Lop ears [ears that flop down]
•Fur edits [includes lionhead, angora, rex, etc]
20% chance for one parent // 40% chance for both parents

Rare:
•Helicopter ears [one up & one down -or- both out to the sides]
•Size edits [flemish giants, netherland dwarfs, etc]
10% chance for one parent // 20% chance for both parents

Very Rare:
•Unnatural edits [horns, wings, etc]
•Unnatural colors* [purple, green, etc]
-These only occur in chosen special adopts or events.-
*If unnatural colors are not rolled, the kits will have the original design but natural colors.
3% chance for one parent // 6% chance for both parents

Items
These are items that can be obtained for special effects!

Honeysuckle | Allows two bucks or two does to breed.
Clover | Allows owner to choose one auto-passing trait for the kit
Dandelion | Allows owner to add one or two small accessories to the kit
Parsley | Allows owner to determine sex of kits
Basil | Allows owner to choose eye color of kits
Cilantro | Keeps a kit young permanently
Carrot Cake | Allows owner to choose amount of kits (up to four)
Bunny Loaf | Allows kits to skip the growth period and automatically be grown
Orphan ticket | Allows owner to take in a free randomized kit

*when referring to a special effect on kits, the chosen effect will be applied to the grown version as well.
