Note: I would like to note that while I have done considerable research for time era, historical figures, and duties of various roles, this is a work of fiction. Events that never happened in reality will transpire for the sake of plot.
___________
The year is 1890, and things are beginning to get a little more heated than is ideal for anyone. It’s towards the end of the age in which privateers, and pirates are majorly active, and yet, somehow, it doesn’t look like the action is in any way slowing down.
Although their journey started in England, the privateers sent out to stop enemy merchant ships and pirates plundering the area of their homeland have wound up travelling from far and wide, well beyond the small section assigned to them, in hopes of catching the enemy before more damage can be done. Some go even further, and turn to piracy themselves, even after receiving their Letter of Marque from the Queen Victoria.
It’s well known that the enemy has been planning an invasion. News has finally reached the Queen herself. It was 2 years after news first arrived, when the first ship showed up on their territory, that Queen Victoria hired a band of privateers to carry out duties, blocking or stealing supplies from the enemy to cut them off, sinking enemy ships, taking prisoners for trial, should they find themselves under attack, and to receive a cut of the money from the captures, and to hold on to the majority of any loot they may take hold of.
However, not all is as it seems, as several privateers have in fact turned to piracy, becoming more and more active in the area. Now it’s the job of privateers to assist the Royal Navy in taking them down, should they come across traitors or pirates on the high seas. Life certainly is busy nowadays, never a moment to rest! Sometimes, privateers have been falsely accused of piracy, and face a hefty— and sometimes even fatal— trial and punishment for crimes they did not commit, as it’s quite common that privateer activity may look like piracy, although legal. It’ll be worth it I’m the end though if one can be successful, as the folks working for the Queen have been promised a handsome reward upon their success and return. The question is, is the risk worth it?.

RULES
1. Be nice to other players. That means no insulting, no cruel jokes, no harassment. If you have issues with someone, bring it to me, and I will find a way to deal with the problem.
2. There will be ZERO tolerance for any kind of harassment whatsoever, this means instant ban for prejudice, be it sexism, racism, sexual-orientation related etc.
3. On the note of sexual orientation, please remember that this was 1800s. Very few people were out if they’re in the LGBTQ+ community, as there’s little support, and in several places, things relating to LGBTQ+ were deemed unacceptable, illegal, or frowned upon. I will not say in the rules it’s banned. Just be aware people are generally closeted, largely out of fear.
4. Mod's word is final.
5. Mods control timeskips/weather/time etc.
6. Questions and suggestions are always welcome!
7. You may have as many characters as you can actively play. Queen Victoria will be mentioned, but not a player character.
8. Characters of any gender may become privateers/pirates/Navy officers. I’m aware this is a change from history, but I dislike leaving people out, and don’t want to limit numbers. However, expect that women in the roles of Navy officers or privateers may be treated differently than men. This does not permit hateful commentary. I understand characters treating them differently, or occasionally throwing a comment out, but this should not in any way, shape or form, be the focus of a scene, and engaging in such activity will result in an immediate and permanent ban.
9. Romance is encouraged and permitted, but should not be a character's sole driving point. This is very much plot based.
10. Do not seriously harm or kill another person's character without their permission.
11. Don't get too graphic in depictions of battles/romantic scenes etc.
12. All CS rules apply at all times.
13. If a mod or your RP partner asks you to stop/slow down, please listen.
14. This is not a 1/1. There should be no more than 3 pages until everyone's had a chance to post.
15. Please no superpowers!
16. Plot ideas are to be run past a mod BEFORE being put into play, but please! Pitch ideas all you wish!
17. No super OP or "perfect" characters. Characters with seemingly no flaws will not be accepted.
18. NO godmodding or powerplaying except in the case that’s it’s agreed to by both players.
19. Please write at LEAST 3-4 sentences, give an RP partner something to work off of. The more, the better, but that’s the minimum requirement.
20. Please use the form provided. Adding is fine, but we need all the required information to be included.
21. Reservations last a week.
22. No playing your own love interest, it limits interaction.
23. Wait to be approved BEFORE RPing.
24. Keep chat and all in the chat thread, NOT the sign-ups! I don’t want to have to sort through 20+ pages to find 10 characters.
25. I reserve the right to change the rules, and such rules will be announced.
26. These rules are enforced. Failure to follow through will first result in a warning. A second offence calls for a 3 day ban. A third offence means a permanent ban from the RP.
27. You may play members of your own crew (for pirates and privateers) but I would certainly like to see mixes of RPers on one crew at some point.
28. Feel free to join a currently existing crew, or found your own.
29. In the Navy, Admirals and Fleet Admiral are in charge of promotions, rather than the mod (presuming mods are not in those roles) but please run it past the mods just so we’re aware, and there must be considerable REASON for said promotions.
30. Once you’ve signed up, or are interested, mark the discussion thread, or hop into the Discord.
31. No one under age 15 may join the Royal Navy. Someone becomes a Navy Seaman Recruit at age 18 automatically, until then, they serve as cabin boys/girls, and assist wherever needed, doing odd jobs on the ship. No one under 18 may become a privateer, and pirates, age does not matter.
32. Please no plot centred primarily around young children. Children are not banned, but plot should not centre largely around them.
33. Please no animals on board ships/in the Navy. For civilians, keeping pets is permitted.
34. If you’ve read and accepted these rules, put your favourite smiley in the sign-ups.
