realm where spirits dwell and where humans, qunari, and elves visit
when they dream. For non-mages, entering the Fade while dreaming
is a fleeting and inconsequential experience but mages have a
greater awareness of their dreams. Generally, only those who use
lyrium to enter the Fade are able to separate their dreams from
reality. The act of drawing power from the Fade can draw the
attention of the spiritual beings on the other side of the Veil,
leading to an increased risk of demonic possession if the mages are
not vigilant enough. A possessed mage becomes a distortion of their
former self, a twisted monster known as an abomination. It is for this
reason that a mage must have enough willpower to master their
magic so they can resist demons while they are "awake" in the Fade.
Additionally, mages must have the good sense to block the whispering
temptations of demons whenever mages are in communication with
them. There are also limitations to the application of magic. Just as
a man has the strength to lift only so much weight and no more, a
mage cannot work more magic at one time than his mana
allows. If he wishes to work magic that would be beyond his strength,
a mage must bolster his mana with lyrium. Without lyrium, it is
possible for the reckless to expend their own life-force in the
working of magic.

🐉 Personality: The years have been far from kind to Hawke
and more often than not his charming and humorous self that he is
well known for takes a back seat. Nowadays he is much more tired
and serious with a burned out sarcastic kind of humor. He can be
kind of a jerk at the end of the day, no longer caring if his harsh
humor hurts anyone along the way. He still extremely reckless,
leaping straight into the jaws of death with little regard to how he
will make it out. Deep down inside he has the best of intentions and
is trying his hardest with the cards he has been dealt. His loyalty
knows no bounds and will stop at nothing to help someone he cares
about.

Leandra in small village near Amaranthine. In 9:11 Dragon
Bethany and Carver are born and the five live a fairly happy life
until at the age of 9 Bethany's magic manifested and they were
forced to flee to Lothering. In 9:30 Dragon the fifth blight began
and Garrett and Carver were recruited into Cailain's army as it
attempted to stop the blight before it could begin. Unfortunately
they failed and Carver and Hawke returned to Lothering to flee
to Kirkwall with Leandra and Bethany. Tragedy struck when
Bethany was killed by an orc before they could get to safety.
It took a year before Hawke and Carver could make it into the
city where he meet his life long friend Varic. In pursuit of money
to reclaim their home Carver and Hawke followed Varic into the
Deep roads on an expedition. An expedition that ultimately
claimed Carvers life. A mere three years later and Leandra was
killed. Over the course of the ten years that Hawke spent in
Kirkwall the tensions between the mages and templars kept
rising until it came to a boiling point in the form of one of Hawkes
associates Anders blowing up the chantry. The city became a
battle field and Hawke chose to defend the mages. The Champion
and his allies escape Kirkwall before templar reinforcements
arrive. Hawke's name became a rallying cry for oppressed mages
everywhere. Hawke went into hiding, only contacting Alastair to
research the red lyrium. After Corypheus' identity as the Elder
One is revealed, Hawke is contacted by Varric, who introduces
them to the Inquisitor. After answering the Inquisitor's questions
about Corypheus they meet up with Alastair in a smuggler's cave
in Crestwood to see what his investigation uncovered. it is
uncovered that every Grey Warden in Orlais began to hear the
Calling, the Warden contact suspected that Coreypheus was the
cause. Believing that their end is near, Warden-Commander Clarel
planned on using a blood magic ritual that would end all Blights
before they all perished. Hawked joined forces with the Inquisition
and stood by their side as they lay siege to Adamant Fortress. They
confront Erimond and Clarel about the truth of the demon binding
ritual and attempt to sway the Wardens against Erimond. When
Erimond summons Corypheus' dragon to deal with the Inquisition.
After a long battle the group found themselves physically inside the
fade after Inquisitor Lavellan opened a rift to save them. Dogged by
the Nightmare demon the party only made it out alive after Hawke
stayed behind to distract the Nightmare. The last thing he can recall
is dragging himself away from the Nightmare.
