Ravenna grew up in an orphanage in western Durham, a small town in northeast
England. Apparently her mother passed away, leaving her as an orphan with no
family to claim her, she was two years old and spent the next sixteen years in
the system. With clear talents from a young age the orphanage director did
his best to get her a good education, but without much money it was up to her
to do most of the heavy lifting. As soon as she was old enough she was working,
trying to earn money to pay herself into college. With scholarships aiding her
efforts she was able to attend a community college. It wasn't what she wanted
but it was a good starting point. Earning impressive acclaim soon after she
entered, she was taken under the wing of a well known professor at Oxford and
continued her schooling there. She earned several degrees in subjects of science
and biology. She was the spearhead of many scientific discoveries. But she was
easily envied by her colleagues, and despite her innovations her theory's were
often questioned, and even shot down. She found herself frequently frustrated
by the restraints of those in charge of her, and even many of the ethics issues
amidst the scientific community. When the Zodiac League came knocking, she
was extremely hesitant to take their offer. She had heard things about their
organization, things that put her on edge. Eventually she was persuaded. But
she has never spoken of exactly why she decided to join the team. Through
much trial and error she was able to replicate the superhuman serum, but the
limited success made her grow frustrated, and ambitious at the same time.
