ONE. born and raised in the town she's in means she knows a lot of people. it get's k
ind of annoying to her as she knows too many people for her own comfort. she wish
es she could move but money? won't allow it. TWO. if you knew callum during her h
ighschool years you know that a. she used to be very preppy and b. her real name is
n't callum at all. she changed her name after her parents moved away after graduat
ion. don't ask what it is. THREE. her hair used to be very elegant and long but after
an argument with her mother she buzzed it off. hasn't gone back since. kind of neve
r got out of her rebellious phase if we're being honest. FOUR. even though she does
n't have long hair anymore she always has a hair tie on her for some reason. it's just
there. it never leaves. FIVE. she's kind of an adrenaline junkie too. she's gone skydi
ving [even tho her wallet said no] and had the time of her life. she can't seem to ev
er be satisfied SIX. she works at a bookstore [which is way too slow for her but it gi
ves her money so] in the town and is usually there by herself. so she's gotten some
obscure knowledge on random things from books she's read. SEVEN. when it's an esp
ecially slow day she likes to sing and walk around the store. her voice has gotten be
tter as time has gone on and honestly, she can sing pretty well. EIGHT. callum lives i
n a small apartment with her cat meko. the cat is her pride and joy. it's legit is just
a stray cat she adopted. it's a white laperm cat with three legs. NINE. she listens to
records a lot. mostly because she thinks they are cool and doesn't mind spending mo
ney on them. TEN. also has way too many plants for her own good. someone tell her
to save her money instead of spending it. please. she needs to get out of this town..

help kari out as much as possible since she's a single mother. so

Personality: Orren is a well meaning, if not a bit apathetic, person. He's kind, pretty awkward, and sometimes a little on the slow side. He blames the lack of sleep for his dumber moments. Orren has a habit of being a 'go with the flow' kind of guy, and this sometimes turns him into a bit of a doormat. His life of misfortune has slowly made him numb to the idea of resisting fate. Why struggle when it's just going to happen anyway? Why fight the universe? His future was already sealed, and his short life was rapidly approaching an unknown expiration date. He has no intentions of making it any more difficult than it needs to be.

Appearance: Orren looks...sick. He's always been a little on the scrawny side, but since his condition developed, he's lost an unhealthy amount of weight. He's at the bottom rung of a 'normal' BMI, and threatens to fall into the 'underweight' category with each passing day. He has enough bags under his eyes to pack up and move out for a week or two. He always looks tired, exhausted, and maybe on the verge of passing out. He's 5'6", with black, emotionless eyes, and visibly paler than he should be.

Other: He enjoys reading, being outside, and ignoring anything that may be made up by his delusional brain.

History:

Orren's life can be described as a series of unfortunate events, sometimes even reaching comedic levels of misfortune. Some might say he was cursed.

He bounced around in the foster care system for a while, and eventually aged out. He now lives in the cheapest apartments in town he could possibly find. Lots of stuff goes wrong, and his AC is in a perpetual state of "on the fritz". But, Orren managed to find his place. He started working at 24 hour convenient store on main street, which he turned out to be perfect for, in a way that almost no one saw coming.

Not long after graduating high school, Orren began to show signs of insomnia. He would go days without sleeping, then weeks. Finally, he saw a doctor, and was diagnosed with fatal familial insomnia. It is, as the name would imply, terminal. And also incurable. The doctor told him that, eventually, Orren would reach a point where his brain would just forget how to sleep, and his insomnia would be permanent. At that point, his lifespan would drop to that of a fruit fly. Orren reached that point almost a year ago, and is, miraculously, still alive. But not without cost.

After completely losing the ability to sleep, Orren began to face the other side affects of his condition: weight loss, hallucinations, and a deteriorating cognitive function. He will slowly lose his mind, assuming he lives long enough to get there. He's currently living on borrowed time.

For most people, just knowing they had this kind of condition could drive them to insanity. But, Orren takes it in strides. He manages to cope with his rapidly approaching and inevitable demise....surprisingly well. After all, there's nothing he can do about it. And look on the bright side: working the overnight shifts pays better!
