Name: Nero
Age: 27 as of DMC5
Fandom: Devil May Cry
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Unique Attributes: Left-handed and technically an amputee (it's complicated)
Weaknesses: Has a tendency to let his emotions get the better of him
Powers / Abilities / Equipment:Demonic Hybrid Physiology: As the son of half-demon Vergil and a human woman, Nero has several innate abilities. He has superhuman strength, speed, and endurance. He also has naturally accelerated healing, although not nearly as fast as his Devil Trigger forms. He has been known to take several swords to the chest and keep on punching. He was able to regenerate his entire arm, although it was when he unlocked his Sin DT and after months of living with no arm. He is also able to manipulate demonic energy, channeling it into his guns for extra powerful shots or into his legs to achieve higher jumps. He is also able to convert his regenerated arm back into a spectral form in order to use Devil Breakers.
Devil Bringer: This is Nero's spectral arm. With it, he is able to utilize Devil Breakers, toss enemies about, grapple, or absorb items for storage. No one knows where these items disappear to and no one asks.
Devil Trigger: When Nero Triggers, he gains accelerated healing. He also is able to manifest a blue spectral demon behind him which follows his movements. His features change, with his eyes turning red and his skin glowing a blue aura. He is also able to fire Summoned Swords, a circle of conjured blue swords that he can fire at his opponents. His strength and speed are also increased.
Sin Devil Trigger: This is Nero's true demonic form. He heals slightly faster than regular DT and is also slightly stronger and faster. Rather than manifesting a spectral demon, Nero himself transforms into a full demon with spectral arms that can double as wings. Whenever Nero attacks, these spectral arms will follow his actions. He is also able to create swords out of demonic energy.
Devil Breakers: These are specially made prosthetic arms, each with their own unique ability and purpose. There are eight, but Nero is only able to use one at a time and excessive use will break them. Overture, which electrocutes targets; Gerbera, which releases shockwaves that can be converted into a single energy beam; Punch Line, which is basically just a jet-propelled fist that flies around and punches enemies until it breaks and can occasionally be ridden; Helter Skelter, which can be used as a drill; Tomboy, which can be linked to a weapon to amp up its power; Buster Arm, which can toss enemies "with devastating force"; Rawhide, which can be used as a whip to grapple enemies; and finally Ragtime, which can create force fields where time is slowed.
Red Queen: Nero's trusty sword with a throttle in its handle which allows Nero to enhance his techniques when used.
Blue Rose: Nero's trusty double-barreled revolver which oddly never runs out of bullets.
Limits: Nero cannot use his DT's back to back and each one takes a significant amount of energy, meaning that he cannot use them if he is severely weakened or exhausted.
Personality: Nero can be antisocial and is a lot more serious than his uncle, though nowhere near the levels of his father. That being said, whereas both Sparda brothers tend to keep their emotions closer to their chest, Nero is the kind of person who wears his heart on his sleeve. Unfortunately, this also means that his emotions have a tendency to get the better of him, particularly anger over a loved one being hurt. He's gotten better at handling emotions and is a far cry from the hotheaded teen he once was. He can still be impulsive and a little short-tempered, but he has matured, likely thanks to looking after the orphans of Fortuna for the last decade or so. Nero is still fairly rebellious and doesn't like to follow orders, usually butting heads with his uncle. This is partly why he tends to work alone even though he is a member of Devil May Cry. That being said, Nero is very loyal to his teammates and partners. While he can be sarcastic and sometimes arrogant and cocky, Nero is also a bit of a softie at heart, particularly when it comes to his girlfriend, Kyrie, or the kids. Like his uncle, Nero is well-known for taunting his enemies. However, despite his cocky attitude, Nero tends to sometimes doubt himself and his abilities. He takes comments about himself and his abilities to heart; he still hasn't completely gotten over the 'dead-weight' comment from his uncle. Nero can also be very crude, swearing often and colorfully while also flipping people and enemies off indiscriminately.
History: Nero was found as an abandoned infant on the island of Fortuna and taken in by the city. He was bullied as a child because everyone believed his mother was a prostitute. Fortuna was run by a cult known as the Order of the Sword, which worshipped the dark knight Sparda as a god and hunted demons in his name. When he was a teenager, his right arm was damaged in a demon attack and slowly began to turn into a demonic limb. He hid the arm in a sling until Dante showed up and shot Sanctus, the leader of the Order and Fortuna, supposedly killing him. Nero fought Dante and in doing so revealed his demonic limb. As Nero tried to hunt down Dante, he began to discover that the Order was experimenting with demons rather than killing them, steadily building up a demonic army with the goal of taking over the world. While fighting the Order's head Alchemist, Agnus, the man who explained what was happening, Nero was killed. However, as he was dying, Nero's demonic powers were awakened, resulting in his first Devil Trigger. It is here, after defeating Agnus, that Nero gained the devil sword known as Yamato. Nero then confronts Credo, Kyrie's older brother, and a commander in the Order, resulting in the two fighting and Nero defeating Credo. Unfortunately, Kyrie witnessed this fight and the display of Nero's demonic abilities. This was because Agnus had brought her in an attempt to turn her against Nero. He then proceeded to kidnap Kyrie much to Credo's anger. The two men departed, with Nero going after Kyrie. He later ran into Dante again with the older man asking him to hand over the Yamato as it "belonged in the family". Nero, overcome with anger at Kyrie being kidnapped and being lied to, refused and the two fought with Dante beating Nero. Instead of taking the sword, he instead told Nero to keep it now that he was calmed down. After a long fight with Sanctus and aided by Dante, Nero went to return the sword only to have Dante tell him to keep it. Over the next several years, while trying to rebuild Fortuna, Nero became a professional Devil Hunter and a member of Devil May Cry, partnering up with a weaponsmith named Nico, the biological daughter of the now-deceased Agnus. Eventually, they were called in by Dante to help defeat a new demon king known as Urizen, only to later discover that Urizen was the result of Dante's twin brother, Vergil, using the Yamato to split his demonic and human halves. He had stolen the Yamato months earlier from Nero, resulting in the loss of the young hunter's demonic limb. Eventually, the two halves were joined together and Vergil was restored. Dante went after him, ordering Nero to stay behind and finally revealing to Nero that Vergil was the younger man's father. Knowing that Dante and Vergil likely intended to kill each other in this fight and desperate to not lose the family he had discovered, Nero was able to activate his Sin Devil Trigger, interrupting the brothers' fight. He then proceeded to defeat his father. With Vergil defeated but alive, their next goal was to close the portal to the Underworld that Vergil had opened as Urizen. The only problem was that this could only be done from within the Underworld. Despite his attempts to stop them, Dante and Vergil descended into the Underworld to close the portal, with Vergil promising Nero a rematch when he returned. As of yet, they haven't returned.
