- For as long as anyone can remember, Pokemon and Humans have lived and worked side by side. The development of Pokemon battling began rather early on when two hotheaded kids got their Pokemon involved in their personal matters. The use of Pokemon in a battle-like setting quickly spread over the world like a wildfire, soon becoming one of the most popular sports in history. People would flock hundred and even thousands of miles to visit other regions and watch or participate in what we know today as League Battles or Tournaments. These special battles consisted of battling your way through other skilled trainers until you made it to the "Elite Four". There, you had to battle four Elite Trainers and a Champion, and the trainer who managed to beat all five would become the new Champion until another contestant bested him or her in the next years' tournament.
You and your friends are some of the finest Champions and Members of the Elite Four to ever live. Your battle prowess has been thus far unmatched and you find yourself growing weary of these yearly tournaments, for they no longer pose any sort of real challenge. Year after year, the poor newcomers are bested by one of the Elite or the Champion, and year after year you continue your reign, hoping someone might come along and give you a real workout. That's when you get the letter. On a remote, tropical island in the middle of the Alolan Ocean, a championship is being held. You and your Elite Four are invited to go to this island and participate in a series of battles to prove just which team is the best of the best. The Champion of Champions, if you will. Question is, are you in... or out?
