hailing from ula'ula island's very own po town, it's easy to see that
from an early age, masato was influenced by team skull's presence.
he sees them as a second family of sorts, seeing as his own parents
never really seemed to give him much attention. masato, however,
was enamored with the island challenges. he spent plenty of hours
powering up his pokémon, alongside reeking havoc with his team
skull members. like a bull in a china shop, masato doesn't care what
he tramples on to win the day. aloof and rough around the edges,
the kahuna doesn't exactly endear himself to strangers, but beneath
his abrasive manner beats a big sloppy heart of gold- (well; maybe silver).
sturdy and loyal, once you earn this guy's trust and respect, there's
nothing he wouldn't do to support you. doesn't sport a well functioning
moral-compass, and can say brash things if he's not watching his tongue.
can get riled up easily, and is always one for a good competition.

─ at one point, he wanted to become a graffiti artist,
managing to tag most of the islands of alola with his name.
─ usually wears dark purple jackets to match with his dark
purple coded team! it's all about the edgy aesthetic.
─ kinda astonished he got accepted into this matchmaking
service. to be completely fair, masato did it to appease
his team skull buddies who want him to find a partner.
─ tough guy exterior™ in daily activities, but would fight
anybody who hurts any of the kids in the island challenges.
─ a little on the shorter side, five foot eleven, but swears
he's six foot. trust him on this. pretty muscular too.

rex, his usual partner pokémon, is a reminder of his youth.
masato caught him as a young nidoran, and hasn't let him leave his side since.
as fearsome as they come, and is the last pokémon trial goers have to face.
tucker, a large hulking scolipede, is nothing short of a powerhouse
when it comes to battle. despite his scary appearance, tucker is a quiet and
well-behaved pokémon who wants nothing more than a good nap and snack.
akane, a spitfire of a crobat, is eager to impress any child who
attempts the trial challenge. she was caught when masato was young and
deathly afraid of caves. so, he managed to bond with a sweet zubat.
known very well in the community for being a prankster and even
finding ways to steal shiny objects they like, teru is very popular amongst
the kids for being a rebellious pokémon, who'll do anything for fun.
raku is a fearsome alolan muk, who simply just wants attention from
others, but can't seem to find anyone to want to get too close to him
without the fear of being poisoned. luckily, masato is there to help.
poi, is the strange new pokémon that found its way in
an ultra wormhole and wound up with masato. he doesn't know much
about the ultra beast, but loves them, anyways. just a little creature.

they're both spitfires who are willing
to do pretty much anything for a good
time, no matter the risk. masato enjoys
being her friend, even if they're trouble
when together. one of his best buds.

assistant professor . a cinnamon roll. protect.
he's seen rosalba before, having studied
poipole a bit before this whole 'matchmaking'
thing. masato know's she's a big sweetie,
which he thinks is a bit naive, but
whatever floats her boat, he supposes.

himself . woah, toxic loser.
he's accustomed to not really having people
around, what with the parents not caring much.
so, he acts tough and smiles like a villain
because it's the narrative he wants to
construct. because it's easier that way.

hoenn champion . real sad boy hours
masato's not exactly too keen with koji,
and probably has caught him crying twice
so far. maybe he's a bit tough on the
champion, that alakazam could kill him.
but, for now, he keeps his distance.

magma admin . all work n' no play.
team magma really lucked out with this
guy, seeing as nishiki always working. of
course, masato is willing to be the person
who brings him out of his shell. who knows?
maybe the guy can do mean graffiti w/ him.

one of the few people that can not only
deal with his gruff behaviors, but also
snap back at him? a legend... masato
thinks this girl's got guts, and that's

shi's a bit of a rubix cube to figure out,
not that masato sees that as a bad thing.
he's utterly captivated by her mysterious ways
and wants to get to know her better. she's
v pretty too, which is always nice.

━━ hitomi is twenty two years old, born on january
twelfth. cisfemale, demisexual panromantic, no lean.
━━ based on a first impression, hitomi is rather snar
ky, without a filter. she says her mind without thinki
ng of the consequences- not that hitomi really cares.
━━ she wont let anyone step on her. she isn't a pus
hover and doesn''t care for anyone that tries to push.
━━ though she may appear stone cold, hitomi quick
ly warms up and becomes sweet and affectionate to
those she trusts. rarely opens up to strangers- it take
a while for her to trust, but once u have it u have it.

a professional glassblower and a mineralogist mother, as the eldest among three children
-- as a kid he spent a lot of time on route 113 collecting soot for his dad's work (healthy!)
-- he had always dreamed big, even as a kid: his childhood dream was to be a gym leader
-- as a naive teenager, he wound up getting involved with team magma because he thoug
ht they seemed important and powerful. he was v. desperate to make a name for himself
-- nishiki's mellowed out as he got older, less impulsive and more focused on the big idea
-- that said, he's still an act first, think later person at heart. he's got quick reflexes, and
is very grateful for them when he spends so much time trying to not like die in volcanoes
-- he's always been a hard worker, because he likes the idea of contributing to something
bigger than himself, but ever since he got promoted to admin 2 years ago it's like he just
straight up lost the off switch for work mode.... he'll often train or work until he crashes
-- he does a lot of field work, collecting samples of local terrain & pokemon to figure out
how the area can best be utilized for both human and for pokemon needs in the long run
