katerina was born on what we call today march 29 in the year 1018 making her one of the eldest vampires in her coven, if not the eldest. she was born to a viking leaders marko and adelina. she was the third of 6 children and the only daughter, she took her mothers gift, much like elijah and ivan had, all three being witches/warlocks, powers inherited by their mother. her brothers, elijah, aleksandar, bodjar, daniel and ivan. elijah and alek were the closest together, only 12 months between them, katerina was born two years after alek and was a twin to bodjar, it was a hard birth and bodjar was nearly lost, being a son, he was far more important to their father, he did not see much use in women other than well, you get the idea. he saw no reason in teaching katerina how to fend for herself, instead she asked for her oldest brothers help, elijah was noble and kind, and protected his sister where their father did not, he taught her to fight, he taught her to hunt. as she grew older she became very powerful like her mother, but only used her magic for good, she loved nature almost as much as she loved her family. cut to seventeen years after her birth about three months after what they then didn't celebrate as her birthday, she had gone on a small hunt with elijah and bodjar when they came across a small neighbouring town that had been torn apart. in a matter of seconds her brother bodjar had gone from a big and strong man standing beside her, to laying on the ground dead. her brother elijah grabbed her arm and ran. katerina was no stranger to these demons, and neither was her family, they heard such stories of the night walkers and of those who were slaves the moon. they ran for a few hundred meters before elijah turned to defend, ordering that she ran. in fear she did, her twin brother was dead, her older brother was telling her to run, why would she defy?

katerina was never much of a tracker, that was always elijah, and so she found herself in a small dark cave that night praying he would come around the corner at any moment. unable to find home for about four days, she found herself a little delirious but had managed to keep herself hydrated and fed on a few berries. a week went by and elijah had finally come to her rescue, something was off about him, he seemed darker somehow. but he was still her caring brother despite all that. on their trip home katerina suffered a near fatal fall, resulting in several injuries. it was that night elijah turned her. he had only been turned himself the day he forced his sister to run, and had his own sire not showed him he could help his sister, he would have killed her. she suffered a broken neck when her brothers sire took her life after elijah gave her his blood. making him her sire.

katerina despised her brother for taking away her magic, she could no longer communicate with the earth and the plants and relished in being a night walker for nearly 400 years, she went decades where she pretended she was human, it was hard not being able to walk in the day for about 300 years, she met emily in 1382 and became great friends with her, emily was a witch, and her blood line was great. she was one of the original witches who created the day light jewellery. emily spelled a simple silver necklace which allowed katerina to walk in the day. it didn't last long when she was nearly burnt to death after having someone rip it from her neck barley a year later. emily's knew spell was one and only, not many vampires had this spell upon their jewellery a simple silver ring with a small sapphire embedded in, tiny diamonds around the edging of the sapphire, spelled so she could walk in the day, but also spelled so only katerina or emily herself including anyone in her future blood line could remove the ring. katerina's friendship with emily ended not long after the ring when a promise was broken, banned from emily's home katerina saught out refuge for about 452 years. more or less at least, refuge wasn't exactly something she needed, but she liked to play on the innocent, she settled in with a family in west virginia in 1870 where she introduced herself for the first time as katherine konstance, a brother, his sister, father and mother, now the brother wasn't hard to seduce, a few balls and dances and she had his heart in her hand, she played with it for a year or two, until she turned him. in 1893 he was put down by a vampire hunter after she left him to keep herself alive.

in 1930 katherine met henri phillipe de clairmont, she wasn't exaclty a fan of him at the time, however she didn't hate him either. while they both know katherine could snap him like a twig and do her nails at the same time, they both know katherine has no need or desire for leadership, she is usually seen off on her own, only really coming into contact with her coven when it's threatened, but really? who's going to threaten a viking vampire? i mean really

katherine can be self centered, rude and is almost impossibly stubborn, she has a lot of pride, and hates when someone tries to put her down, not that many try, it's not worth it. despite being one of the fastest, strongest, and the eldest vampire, other than henri, most of the coven, if not all of them, believe she's only a couple centuries old making people believe she's still a young vampire.

underneath the cold exterior, katherine can be kind and loving, she's incredibly protective and will do anything in her power to protect those she loves, make a mistake however, and she'll protect herself before she thinks about you.

katherine has been sipping vervain since 1801 after nearly being killed by it, while it still burns, and a massive dose may knock her out, a simple normal dose that one would usually inject into a vampire to knock them out is not enough, and the person who dares to do the deed may find themselves dead.

hayley is one of those people who you just don't muck around with, she was born into a small pack to an alpha pair, but were considered royalty, well, at least they used to be in their old pack back home, her parents were on the run and left australia and arrived in north carolina where her mother annie, gave birth a few months later. hayley was raised a warrior, she didn't find out about her parents royalty until she was sixteen, by that time her mother had been killed by a vampire (later killed by her father) and her father had turned to the bottle. from the age of 3 she was taught the warrior way, she knew how to fight, how to defend herself, and how to put someone down, at 17 she sparred with the best warrior in the pack, he'd been the best for nearly ten years, he was strong and it was no suprise. it took her time, but soon enough she had him on the ground and beat the packs best warrior. hayley became the lead warrior not long after that, thinking it fluke she sparred with wyatt several more times, beating him each time, but faster every time, her last spar, she had him down in under a minute. when she turned twenty, wyatt came to resent hayley and plotted hayley's removal. no fool to wyatt, hayley took it upon herself to take leave. she met june not too long after her leave and joined her pack, it did not take june long to see what an asset hayley was to the pack, she protected fiercely, without thinking, her pack came first, there had not been a single threat that hayley hadn't protected the pack from.

- positive - katherine doesn't really have anything against henri, she doesn't really if ever listen to him, and so far has not had an issue with that, and doesn't plan to, she decides what she wants when she wants, if he has a problem he's free to take it up with the viking ex witch vampire that she is. but they've never had an issue, in fact she almost considers henri a friend.

- neutral - she thinks that the ripper of saint augustus is the last person who should be second in command, his inability to control his inner thirst and basically being a toddler vampire to her she doesn't usually listen to him. as far as she's concerned, he can go do it himself. she's not his baby sitter, although she seems to have been since he joined, she never wanted leadership which was why she won't take it, she doesn't want henri's job, and she doesn't want ben's but, neither of them can ever control katherine, she's a lot stronger than any of them thing or are. that said, ben probably only thinks her a couple hundred years older than he, think again darling.

- positive - april is probably the closest thing to a daughter to her, not so much as in she's 'over protective mother material' but if she had to protect anyone in the clan over herself it would be april. katherine helped her alot through the first decade or so. katherine is however protective enough over april that should any harm come to her she will rain down on them. don't mess with april, then you don't have to deal with a viking ex witch vampire.
