≣ 𝚆𝙴𝙽𝙳𝙸𝙶𝙾 ≣name;; Wendigo
gender;; male
age;; 45 mos
rank;; warrior
wanted rank;; warrior
scent;; river water, moss, cedar
orientation;; gay
species;; wolf
personality;; rapidly rising towards second in command in his former pack, Wendigo is a gruff but warm-hearted wolf who values action over indecision and prizes victory over any other ambition; victory means you eat for the week, it means the pups are safe, and it means you were better than what you went head to head against. he has little patience for hemming and hawing or bureaucracy, and would prefer to make the wrong choice and accept the responsibility for it than be tied by inaction. despite his occasionally rough demeanor and cocky attitude, Wendigo at heart loves pack and family above all. his need for victory will always be rooted not in ego, but in knowing he is a wall in front of the elderly and pups of the pack that no intruder can get through.
positive traits;; confident, adaptable, protective
negative traits;; brash, blunt, impatient
appearance;; a large silver-point timber wolf from the far northern forests, his coat ripples like smoke and river foam as he moves, and his eyes are a stark, autumn-bright orange — a darker and more intense pigment to his half-dog brother pup's white and yellow colors. posture confident, he stands tall at the shoulders and bulky throughout with muscle, tail slightly long with a plume that can brush the ground and sweep the snow behind him.
romantic interest;; open
kin;; Lark (half-siblings)
history;; raised in a large pack of northern wolves that held territory near the arctic circle, Wendigo thrived on tundra and in forest alike, rising quickly as a warrior for his birth pack. despite a brash attitude at times, his care for the wellbeing for his fellow wolves and frequent success in downing prey gave him an edge in the competitive nature of wolves, and by the time he discovered the existence of the half-blooded pup his father had sired outside of the pack, Wendigo was being primed to one day take the beta position of second in command. that did not come to pass, however — patrolling a route his father had usually preferred on instinct of his odd behavior, he found a scent trail leading just out of their borders, a poorly made den broken apart by human hands, and in a bed of ferns, a hungry and cold half-dog pup that had been left behind.
no matter the parent, no matter the boundaries, pups have always been sacred. such was the code he'd been raised on, and such led him to carry the undersized white puppy into the pack den, assuming they would do the right thing and care for the now-motherless child. instead, to his surprise and then disgust, he watched as every other wolf let their compassion be overruled by their superiority; they did not want a half-dog runt welped by an aging wolf, and neither should he, they said. put it back and let the humans reclaim their pet. furious, wendigo invited them to enjoy the last sight of his tail, took the pup in a mother's carry by the scruff of the neck, and walked out of his clan's den, never to return. no pack he would lead, as a subordinate or otherwise, would turn aside a hungry child.
life as a lone wolf with a pup is grueling, and outside of the familiar borders, even a large and skilled hunter had to fight to keep himself and his new half-sibling fed. lark, his brother was named, for the tiny warbling cry he would sometimes let out in his sleep, kicking and fussing until wendigo hushed him, licking his face and pelt to soothe him. almost a year passed on the move, never lingering as they searched for a safe place to den - away from humans and heartless former pack alike. it was a spring with the ice still melting off the pines when wendigo finally found what they'd been searching for; a sanctuary, a place of escaped survivors, where dog and wolf alike would stand and protect one another. rank and power meant nothing to him in that moment. without shame or resentment, wendigo submitted to the authority of the dog-born leader and her subordinate, asking for the chance to prove himself and gain a place in the snow pack - not only for himself, but for lark, so the skittish and undersized half-wolf could finally know what it meant to have a home.
