ยป๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ณ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: Lureneโs quirk is a bit of an interesting one. While the idea of it is common, the quirk he has is different from most other water-based quirks. It mutated over the generations as it was passed down through the family line. Other people with different quirks obviously married in and had children with the hydrokinetic quirk carriers, but somehow when a child was born, they would either be quirkless or have some twisted version of the quirk. In Lureneโs case, his mother had the quirk and his father was quirkless, leaving him with a quirk that mutated in such a way it was weakened.
Ignoring the weaknesses he was born with that no one else in the family ever had he as a decently powerful quirk. He is able to pull water molecules straight from the air and the world around him. Because his quirk works at such a molecular level, he is able to change the speed at which they vibrate, allowing him to alter the temperature of each individual molecule. This gives him the ability to create ice, water, and vapor. There is a limit to how hot or cold he can make water/ice/vapor. His quirk doesnโt work all that well when it reaches a couple of degrees above boiling, and the same thing with below freezing. It is possible for him to create snow, but itโs not a skill he ever worked on and therefore is quite terrible at it. With being able to alter temperature, Lurene is also able to move and manipulate the element however he pleases. He can form it into shapes, move it around, basically what one would think of when they hear water manipulation. He can move it through the air, or if it is in liquid form, even along the ground.
As for the downsides/weaknesses for his quirk, theyโre not things like passing out or nosebleeds/ears bleeding. Instead, theyโre from having a quirkless parent and past generations, as well as what could only be assumed is a dormant gene from his dadโs side that activated since Lurene has a quirk. It used to be for the typical wielder of this quirk, that they could use their abilities at will, not requiring anything special except their mind and using showy movements because why not. His dad being quirkless removes that ability from Lurene. He is only able to use his quirk under certain conditions. The palms of his hands must me mostly exposed at all times to be able to do anything. This also leads to him requiring to use his hands and therefore his arms at all times to make his quirk work. Flashy movements arenโt necessarily for show in his case, theyโre genuinely what he needs to do. Now, later on, he may work on genuine flashy movements to better push his career as a Pro Hero, but itโs iffy. Basically, his quirk is useless if his hands are covered by anything from a piece of paper to gloves to literally anything, even a thin sheet of plastic. The weakness of his believes to be from a dormant gene is something that actually makes sense for his quirk. Since water is a major conductor of electricity, so much so itโs advised against being near water during thunderstorms or from touching water with electricity in it, he has a weakness towards it. Now it doesnโt make complete sense, because why would someone whoโs biology is the same as every other person with bodies unaltered by quirks be weaker towards such a common thing? There isnโt much of an answer, and the doctors they went to oddly kept things under wraps, not even telling the family whatโs going on. Despite knowing the doctors were keeping secrets from them, Lurene followed their advice of steering clearness of anything more powerful than static electricity. They warned that it is entirely possible that he could die from so much as touching an electric fence for a split second. The one thing this didnโt keep him away from was going outside in thunderstorms as they are one of the things that calm him down.
His quirk also comes with a more instinctual side to it, being one of the few things unchanged from his quirk being dimmed down in power. He is able to breathe underwater from some sort of miracle piece of his quirk, but only for a short period of time. He can typically breathe for 30 seconds underwater on average, but he can sometimes push a whole minute. The longer he pushes himself though, the more likely he'll strain himself to the point he has a chance to start blacking out and therefore possibly even drown. Ironic.
** If he took the time to further develop and strengthen his quirk, his mother had told him he could hold power over the weather itself. This he knew for a fact was not true, as someone being able to make it rain at their own will, or even flood, would be far too powerful to even exist. She had also told him if he grew stronger, moving around vapor in the air could create gusts of wind so powerful, it would be like he had a wind-based quirk. This too he sees as impossible and refuses to strive for such power with his quirk because he knows that if someone could control the weather itself, people would see them at possibly a god-like status. Something no human should ever have.
A random side to his quirk is that he can access water within biological forms if there is some sort of opening that leads into their bodies such as ears, noses, and even eyes. This is something he would also never use, once again going against his morals. ** See Extra for more info about italicized section.
TLDR: Read the description c:
ยป๐ฟ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ข: When it comes down to it, Lurene isn't all that bad of a guy. He enjoys the company of other people on the daily, as well as spending time with people he cares about. He prefers face to face interactions over those on the phone, and absolutely loves physical affection whether it is friendly or out of true affection, though he isn't one to admit it. In general, he is more of a happy-go-lucky sort of guy, typically showing a happier side, yet not really energetic. A lot of the time, such as sitting in class and such, he's much more neutral. He doesn't talk that much to people in class that he doesn't know, and typically puts up a small facade of being uninterested or uses slight sarcasm to hopefully get them to stop talking to him. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't and he starts to warm up to the other person, the facade drops entirely. The only problem that comes with his liking of people, is he trusts way too easily. He tends to take peoples word for fact and believes what they have to say. If someone does something to break his trust, he brushes it off and keeps trusting that person anyways.
Lurene is also pretty athletic, having been on the swim team since he was younger and before he moved to Japan. He enjoys participating in sports and similar things, loving the rush he feels every time. On his downtime, he'd either do something active or sit around and play games, both of them being on the top of the list of things he likes to do.
His morals tend to keep him from using aspects of his quirk that people would often point out he should use. He doesn't like the idea of having to harm someone with his quirk, let alone kill someone, but he's willing to do it if it is necessary. He never trained with his quirk to really be used to full kill someone, but he taught himself ways to be able to somewhat use it in battle, albeit he's rusty with it. Lurene tends to shy away from having to battle someone when it's not a genuine battle, so when it comes to the Sports Festival, he will not be all that happy. He'd still put all of his effort into it, but it would take a lot for him to keep calm and not let his morals fully get to him and stop him.
Occasionally his mom, or even his sister, would call him a depressed kitten because of how he acts around people he doesn't know. They've experienced his happy and cheerful side for as long as he has had it, so whenever they get wind of how he acts at school, or they notice he's sulky/being snarky because of lack of sleep, they call him it. They even tended to call him it when he was being curious, as he is a very curious person. He would often eavesdrop on conversations around him if they interested him, or constantly ask questions about a topic that piqued his curiosity. It had grown to stick, his family occasionally calling him Kitten from time to time over the years whenever they need something from him, and even getting to the point that as of currently, he is only called Lurene if he is in trouble of some sort. The only issue he'd have with the nickname is if people outside of his family start calling him that. He wouldn't mind entirely but he would try to ask them to stop. It's not all that unlikely that someone finds out about his nickname, whether it's via social media or overhearing his sister or parents.
One of his favorite things to do that tops both activity and video games, is reading, especially sappy romances and fantasy books. He can pick up a book one day and not dare set it down by his own will for hours. Once he begins reading and gets sucked into a story, it's hard to get him to set it down, no matter the time or urgency -- unless, of course, something major was going on. Lurene is almost always carrying a book around with him at all times if he has a bag on and even tends to finish quite a few per month.
ยป๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐ข: Lurene was born and raised in a small-ish town in the UK called Knaresborough. It was a nice place with a decent population, and he lived there all of his life until he turned 15. Once he turned 15, his family had moved from Knaresborough out to Japan, not that far away from UA itself. The family had enrolled him long before they moved in preparation for their arrival, giving him more time to prepare himself for the school.
The family had known for years that they would be moving to Japan, long enough that they were able to teach Lurene and Mia Japanese for years before they moved. Both of them learned enough to be able to read and write Japanese, as well as understand what people were saying. They could speak the language as well, but it's a bit rusty since it is their second language after all. As well as learning the language, they also had to learn about customs and culture as it grew and twisted in the modern age. After living in Japan for a short while before the new school year, Lurene managed to get a better grasp at Japanese culture with their Pro Heros and absolute love of quirks. Everything that has to do with Pro Heros and such is entirely new to Lurene, as where he was from, the sort of thing wasn't all that popular at all. Yeah, they had people with quirks running around to take care of bad guys and such, but they were never as famous or flashy as Pro Heros. Hell, they didn't even need licenses like the heroes in Japan did, they just did stuff on a whim and either got praised or called vigilantes, but only in local news stations.

ยป๐ด๐ก๐๐๐: ** I mean it for a fact when I say these abilities are never going to be used. While they come with the quirk I developed for him, they are way too OP for any sort of RP. The only way I'd even consider doing something with biological forms is if Toon_Link allows it. Plus, when it comes to the weather and wind sort of thing, they were stories he was told about his quirk when he was younger. As for being able to control the hydration of people, it's because he can often sense the water within their bodies. Of course, he can tell the difference between that and everything else, and so he's never once in his life done anything to harm anyone in such a way. Though he will drown people because that's not using the water in their bodies :kappa: **
There are also some little random facts about Lurene that really don't fit in anywhere else.
With his quirk having some bizarre instinctual things, one of them is the fact that when he is flustered or embarrassed, AKA blushing, he steams. It's not that evident, but if you pay close attention, you can see the vapor radiating off of him. He's pretty self-conscious about it, but the fact he gets embarrassed by it just tends to make it much worse.
He also happens to have a pet gecko named Kiwi c:
