Personality; Katra may be the most powerful human mage in existence, and the leader of her species to boot, but if you were to pass her on the street it would be hard not to mistake her for somebody's grandmother. She's kind, caring, and has that special brand of old lady crazy. Despite her status, she always has time to sit down and chat, her door is open to everyone. From the lowliest farmer to the most lofty noble, she'll be there, with a tray of fresh-baked honeycakes and a jug of cool mint tea. Of course, she's still the Archmage, and woe to anyone who forgets it. Beneath her wrinkly smile lies a maelstrom of arcane power, along with a devastating intellect and keen wit. She may look and act like a kindly grandma, but she's still a force to be reckoned with. She has no illusions about how the other races view humanity, and while she doesn't condone discrimination of any kind, she also understands that humankind's position at the top is a precarious one.
History; Katra came from nothing. Her parents were poor farmers, and when they passed she was a poor orphan. At the time, the orphanages of the human realm weren't funded by the Magocracy, so her childhood was a hard one, full of hard work, little food, and sleepless nights. On the eve of her sixteenth birthday, she left for the Void of Stars. She was well past the age for adoption, and death was far preferable to another day in the orphanage. What happened to her in the mysterious abyss she refuses to say, but she came back with incredible power. She swifly worked her way up in the Magocracy, and was one of the youngest Archmages ever appointed. After a sweeping series of social and economic reforms, she also became one of the most popular.
