Quick little announcement!!!
I added some new lore to the world focusing on the Maratrel curse (mainly just what happens if one of their vamps turn you) here it is...

The Maratrel curse not only affects the vampires born into the family but the humans that are turned by them. If you are bitten and turned into a vampire by the Maratrels you will gain their curse, of course this will make you lose sight of your previous goal and turn you bloodthirsty and downright insane. No one knows how to break the curse as it is a mystery. The effects are the skin turning a dark stone grey and possibly forgetting who you were.

Haven is actually the name her first and previous master gave her in her past life. Haven is a guardian Angel created with one purpose to protect her chosen master, when she picks a master she gives them a peice of her soul which means she cannot get a near master until her current one dies. If her master is killed unnaturally (like they were stabbed) she cannot go into a nest life until she has avenged them. But if her master dies of natural causes she will be reborn at the same time of her masters death, if she dies before her master she will be given a slow and painful death before being reborn with more rules to help her. In her current life she is only twelve and has come to nightlock in search of a new master to protect, if you count her past life as part of hef age she would be 92 years old. Haven is only visible to her master and anyone she wishes to show herself too, unless someone attacks her master than she becomes visible to anyone around. Her wings are like a doves white and feathery and her hair is white like snow. Her eyes are light red but turn black when she is in rage mode, her powers include knowledge about most plants and weapons to defend and heal her master, the power to turn almost anything into a weapon, and she has improved senses.

@salvation. i was wondering if the symptoms of being turned by a maratrel vampire (except for the thirst, or course) could be lessened? like the skin color, the possible new personality traits, sudden amnesia, etc. somehow? of course, if there is, i won't immediately be like 'oh yeah aria is perfectly fine now lol haha also her and cade have a frickin wedding and viktoria accepts them completely yasss' but it would be nice to know if there was a way or not.

Fun story I went down a rabbit hole for around five hours researching dhampirs, half-human half-vampires, and have sort of consolidated an index of their most consistent traits:

Most consistently occurring things:
- They are day-walkers
- They share vampires thirst for blood, but more as a fuel for their powers not a necessity to survive
- They are largely immune to most vampiric weaknesses
- They can sense other supernatural creatures, but other super natural creatures can't sense them

Other random things that I thought were kinda cool:
- Their blood is drinkable to other vampires, and can also be highly addicting
- They can be much stronger than true vampires
- Most of the time they are vampire hunters
