- Equines had lived alongside humans for thousands of years. They were first domesticated 6,000 years ago, in fact. Ever since they’ve lived and worked with humans. But the wild was still in their blood, the itch to run in a herd, to feel the wind coasting through their mane like gentle fingers. This is the way it had always been. That is, untill the humans disappeared. They’d slowly fallen ill one by one, and the rank stench of death was pungent in the air. Many of the domesticated horses didn’t know what to do, as they depended on the humans for food and shelter. They began to escape- save for those who weren’t quite so fortunate. The horses populated the wild quickly, and as generations past they learned more and more about their surroundings- it was rare to find a living horse who even remembered seeing a human before. Humans had become nothing but a myth, told to young foals to frighten them. Tales of horses being tamed and ridden- yes, ridden. And so the equines were left to fend for themselves- would they survive, with harsh conditions, and predators, ones they’d never encountered before, roaming the same land as them?
