duke is serious, sarcastic and bitter. he's not a bad guy, he just doesn't find life a funny thing. he's impatient and stubborn, but extremely loyal. and more sensitive then he'd ever admit. duke is compassionate and brave, though others will always see him as a grump.

duke was abandoned as a pup, for his family was all white, and he was black. they were sure he was a curse. they attempted to drown him, and when that didn't succeed, they threw him out. even coyotes treated him like scum. he found a way to a pack. not that that helped. he fended for himself, but had to fight for the pack and tend to the alpha. he couldn't leave or he'd be hunted for food. duke was betrayed over and over until he closed up his heart and threw out the key. however, when that horrid pack went to ruins, a kind, welcoming pack took him in. they slowly opened his heart for trust once more. but he never regained the half of himself he lost in his horrid youth. duke decided to leave the pack and travel. he stumbled upon Jasper Forest, and stayed.
